General Discussion / Re: Chester
« on: October 13, 2019, 10:59:09 AM »
Just when I thought the football on the Walks could not get much better, we were served up a treat yesterday. Superb entertainment. There were 2 Chester fans sitting behind me and they agreed that was the best match they had seen this season. It was remarkable because the ref did his best to spoil it, with some shocking decisions on both sides. I felt for Smith, he has been unlucky with injuries because he looks a more than capable defender, but lets give credit to Burrows who looked like he was born to play in the centre of defence. It was hard to tell who were the full timers because at the end  Lynn looked the fitter. Well done both teams, but shame on you ref.

Its not easy, and as already stated if a replay, we go to Kidderminster the following Saturday. But also remember that Lemington will have to come to us on a Tuesday night now. Unless we both get free Saturdays, which is unlikely. It is swings and whatever!

Lets not get to despondent, only our 2nd defeat this season, and I don't think we are punching above our weight, we are 3rd on merit, and there is no reason for us to think we will not be in the top half come the end of the season. Lets go to Leek and make it to the 4th qualifying round, and then who knows. If some of you want to watch York again (why should you?) they are 10 miles down the road at Buxton.  With reference to Gash, IMO he should not have played, it could have and may have made his injury worse.

Lynn fans love a cup run, last time was 2006, as well as making money it also puts the club on the map, with business and more fans will come out of the woodwork, 6500+ is not to be sniffed at, ask SC.

In reply to Mallards question, York are full time. I also watched them at lunch time on the BBC red button. They did not look anything special, against what looked a very poor side.

Another three great points!!!!!

Curzon Ashton at home Saturday, I don't think segregation is needed , only average around 400. Farsley Celtic away, now if Leeds are not playing they may turn out big time. I would be interested to know what that cost Lynn security wise for the Hereford game. Anybody know?

Superb yesterday, even the ref was decent, Jarvis and Henderson were the glue yesterday, but nobody had a poor game.  Can anybody confirm that we are at Telford next Saturday? The Non League paper is saying we are at home to Curzon Ashton.

This is sad news indeed, over the years GC and friends have raised thousands and not just through Double G, I remember the new years eve disco, which went for 3 or 4 years, and would be sold out by August! Also the end of season events in the tent, Friday night dinner with a guest speaker etc, the next night a soul band and DJ, and on the Sunday lunch time the players awards.
It wasn't always about sponsorship deals and boards around the ground, it was about people caring about the club and putting the time and effort in to get the results. Gordon is one such person.

General Discussion / Re: Bob Edwards
« on: June 03, 2019, 08:40:00 PM »
I  remember him, a good player in the sixties, the thing I remember most was the 1st round of the cup against Shrewsbury, we were losing 1-0 , the ball came into the box and Bob headed it in the corner, only for the ref to say he hand balled it, I was behind that goal and it went in off his shoulder, after it had touched his head, good player with a good team. Did he have a milk round in Lynn?

Agree about the back 4, its up to the midfield to give them protection when needed, and move the ball quickly when in possession .We need a very strong midfield. I don't think Clunan is that type of player, where Jarvis is older but stronger. Richards is going to be a very good player. improved under IC a lot last season.

General Discussion / Re: Ground Development Fund (GDF) Update
« on: May 31, 2019, 08:05:22 PM »
I see my post on costs to see a game have been repeated. if you don't like it then do not go.   But an idea that worked well many years ago was that any ground work that was done , was done for free on condition that a board was put up  advertising that company, one item stands out was the disabled area I believe was donated by Dawson windows and doors. Everyone's a winner.

All the moaning, all the ideas, Its the same at the end of every season, do this ,do that. The price is to much, the beer is to much, the food is rubbish.   If you don't like it , then DONT GO!

Well here we go, I'm glad we have radio coverage, unable to get a ticket, their press is saying its a sell out anyway.
I am going for a 2-1 Lynn win in extra time. We must take our chances as I think they have the best defence in the Non League step 3.
We can do this, lets remember early October and how things have changed. Come on Lynn!
