General Discussion / Opening game of the season.« on: August 05, 2024, 10:15:37 AM »
Nothing better ( in Football terms) than a home game on the opening day of the season.
Hopefully there will be a 1000 plus crowd in as AL has brought in a new feel good factor to the playing side. He is spoilt for choice with options for a starting 11, though Margetts will be a big miss. Think we have the depth to cover this though. A new midfield player should be in today so gives AL even more choice. Wonder if it’s a loaner from Fleetwood, the Manager seems to have a good connection there. I’m thinking we are going to send out a huge message to the League on Saturday and hand a 3-0 beating. Though I’d take a scrappy 1-0. What are others thinking ? 3

General Discussion / Questions« on: May 30, 2024, 03:31:32 PM »
1. When will we see news on new signings?
2. Season Ticket prices released ? 3. Pre-season Friendlies lined up ? 4. Fixture release date ? 5. How are things progressing with the getting AL a decent surface to play on. 6. The new World wide commercial Director appointment ? 7. Anything from the Chairman about what’s happening at the Club ? 7
General Discussion / Season tickets« on: May 08, 2024, 02:35:25 PM »
Just looking through the various Clubs who have got season tickets on sale.
Southport are offering an early bird deal of £169 for an adult. That works out at just over £7 a game (7.35 ). How do Clubs afford to offer such attractive prices ? 8
General Discussion / New signings« on: April 27, 2024, 04:10:25 PM »
Thought we should have a new thread for players either coming to the Club, rumoured to be coming to the Club or players we would like to see coming to Club.
Just to kick things off. How’s about Central midfielder, currently at Peterborough Sports. …. Josh McCammon. He falls into at least one of those three categories. 9
General Discussion / Adam Lakeland Interview« on: April 15, 2024, 12:38:44 PM »
Just watched AL 15min interview after the Sports game. Interesting insight into what the hopes are for next season. Has a hit list drawn up for who he wants in for next season.
Puts a bit more meat on the bone to the mess inherited when he entered the building earlier in the season. Was very critical Of the standard recruitments last summer. I guess the likes of Bartley, Clifford,Oke, Smith, Spence etc could fall into that category. Who was actually behind last summer’s new signings ? To me the one glaring mistake in recruitment terms was Mark Hughes being appointment by Stephen Cleeve. The rest followed behind that. 10

Nothing to do with The Linnets but what a fantastic result for Maidstone yesterday, winning 2-1 at Ipswich. Maidstone, like ourselves are a step 2 side and this result should well set them up for future seasons. Fingers crossed for them that they next a massive game in the 5th round.
On the subject of the magic that only seems to happen to the FA Cup. Huge shout out for Newport today v Man Utd. A Club where the fans came together to rescue a club from virtual extinction. Another truly remarkable story. Who says the FA Cup is dying with stories like this. 14
General Discussion / Is it not about time ?« on: January 24, 2024, 12:21:21 PM »
With the new investors(owners) having come onboard is it not about time we were hearing from them and what plans they have, going forward ?
It has all gone very quiet since the low key announcement. Are they happy with the way things are happening and pleased with how their investment is being spent. Good opportunity for SC to do one of his infamous ( overdue) podcasts with the new guy involved. 15
General Discussion / Game tomorrow« on: January 19, 2024, 10:51:45 AM »
Hereford away tomorrow. Would take a point before the game but can always hope for 3.
Will AL go with basically the same squad ot has he players coming back from injury etc. Still think we will be busy before the Jan transfer window closes. Can see a few coming in much sooner than later. |
