General Discussion / Chairmanís new podcast.
« on: January 17, 2023, 09:06:57 AM »
Stephen has put up a new podcast.   Some interesting thoughts, facts etc.

He deals with the monies made from the Stevenage game £100k plus.  Well done all.  How heís not happy with what he sees as how the new streaming deal will
Play out.   Covers the Chelsea buy out.  Other bits and pieces.

The main part of the Podcast is with the Altrincham Co Chair who does a great Norman Collier impression all the way through.  Maybe need to check the quality Mr Chairman.

General Discussion / Peterborough Sports at Home.
« on: January 10, 2023, 06:37:35 PM »
Saturday is becoming more and more exciting.

Local Derby that sees 3 Ex Linnets returning in Fryatt, Fox and Gash.  Also a win will see us return to the top of tree with both Brackley and Darlington not in League action.

Big questions over who will be fit to be included in the match squad and  who will start.   Will Tommy have managed to get any new bodies over the line to bolster the squad, or will he try and Ďmuddleí through with what he has at his disposal ?

Letís hope for a decent gate.

General Discussion / Saturday at home to Buxton
« on: December 16, 2022, 10:02:05 AM »
I take it the game Saturday is still on at the moment?  Have seen little to no coverage on the build up to the game.

To me it just seems the Club is waiting for Saturday morning to come and a local Ref called in in to get the game off.  I do. Wonder what attempts are being made or indeed could be made to get the game on.  As I understand it the pitch covers that the supporters purchased are no longer there ( waste of good money that was).

Looking at the bigger picture with games being called off this will put greater strain on the clubs finances as in cash flow and indeed squad numbers needing to be built up to cover the backlog of fixtures.

Letís hope the Boston game on NYD survives as thatís a big money spinner.

General Discussion / Psst. Game on Saturday at home to Kiddie.
« on: November 10, 2022, 12:34:26 PM »
While we are all wrapped up in FA Cup football with a TV date we have the little matter of 3 points being up for grabs at the weekend.

Whose fit and who isnít ?  Decent gate hopefully.   Plus we really need a win in this one to keep us on the coat tails of other clubs who have jumped ahead of us.

General Discussion / Sat Gloucester away
« on: October 27, 2022, 08:44:14 AM »
How do we see this one playing out ?

Gloucester seem to be a free scoring as ourselves at home having notched 16 goals on their home patch.   However they have been turned over twice there.

Will TW go for the same starting 11 or Ďreleaseí Gold into the game after having him sat on the bench for two games ?

With Tommy you can never tell what line up he will go with.  Maybe a surprise or two in the starting 11.

Iím going for a decent point with a 2-2 result

General Discussion / New signing ?
« on: October 23, 2022, 10:30:29 AM »
On yesterday post match interview TW speaks about 3 players who have gone out on loan and indicates this has freed up the budget to bring one in.  ( 3 for 1. Must be a stellar signing).  So where do we need strengthening ?

Maybe a Gold back-up or player to challenge Scott for the left sided position.

Thoughts ?

General Discussion / The little matter of Darlo at home
« on: October 20, 2022, 09:29:08 AM »
Amongst all this FA Cup fever we have the little matter of 1st v 2nd at The Walks in a little over 48 hours.

Darlington under  Alan Armstrong are making a strong push for promotion this season.   So letís hope for a big crowd and the right result for Lynn.   I do wonder what formation/line up TW will go with.  Seems now we have more than one string to our bow.   I have a feeling he will go for the very attack minded line up that will include Barrett, Stephens and Pot-a-Jelly.

2-2 in front of 2k for me

General Discussion / Physio Carol Holland

Strong rumour has it that Carol has left us to link back up with Ian Culverhouse at Boston.

Sorry to hear this if it is confirmed

General Discussion / Chorley at home Saturday
« on: October 04, 2022, 06:15:05 PM »
Maybe a better team that their current League position suggests.

Unbeaten at home, 1 win with 5 draws.  On the road two wins and two loses.  One of the wins was 4-1 at Boston.

As for Lynn maybe a tricky one to try and 2nd guess which way TW will go.  The opposition must be scratching their head trying to work it out.

Will he stick with the three strikers while also fitting Barrett  or revert back to the formula that has seen us achieve top spot in the League ?

Iím going for a 2-1 home win.  Gate ?  888

General Discussion / Stephen Cleeve Podcast
« on: September 30, 2022, 11:19:13 AM »
The chairman has finally put up a new podcast after 6 months.

Guest is the Gateshead Chairman who comes across very well in the interview and gives a good insight into the runnings of a Club of that size.  Average gate of 900 when winning the NLN last season.  Said it cost 7 figures to run a club like theirs.   They have a Supporters Trust who own 25% of the Club along with 4 other main shareholders.  Each have to pay their way and make up the shortfall, each season.

SC also stated he was now looking for outside investment and was in talks with various people both home and abroad.  We canít keep punching above our weight with low crowds and we need more through the gate.

Plenty of other snippets in the Podcast.  Give it a listen

Interesting developments there with their Manager resigning.

General Discussion / Curzon Ashton away Saturday
« on: September 21, 2022, 06:07:23 PM »
This looks another winnable game to keep Tommy and the boys unbeaten run going.

Tommy saying he has selection problems but nice problems to have.

What system will he go with ?    McFadden or Denton at the back.  If McFadden then Denton or Scott on the left ?
Midfield does he bring back Clunan after illness or stick with Barrett ?  Up top who does he pair with Gold ?

All in all a nice few problems to address for Tommy.

Iíd take a 1-1 draw on the road to keep the run going.

General Discussion / Live Streaming
« on: September 18, 2022, 09:05:50 AM »
Live streaming is coming to the National League for the 2nd half of this season.  Seems like it will be all Saturday games in the National League.  North and South will be phased in.   All 72 Clubs will benefit for funds coming from the one pot of money with the breakdown spilt to be decided.

Thoughts anyone ?

General Discussion / Bedford at home FA Cup (Setchís return)
« on: September 15, 2022, 08:24:45 AM »
Must be some interesting thoughts from people on this one.

Just listened to Setchís thoughts on the game.

1.  Happy cos itís only 10 mins from his home to the ground.
2.  Free hit for Bedford.
3.  Need to keep the crowd quiet early doors, as if Lynn get one early the crowd will be well up for it and could be a tough afternoon.
4.  If Bedford can stay in the game Lynn fans will turn on the team which will help Bedford.
5. Expecting a few comments, songs etc mentioning pies.
6.  Four figure gate.
7.  Very complimentary about the quality of the Lynn team and Manager

Get the feeling he is well up for it.
