General Discussion / Leamington away
« on: March 02, 2020, 03:43:04 PM »
Two tough away games coming up this week.   Squad should be well rested and nearly upped to full numbers ( not sure where Clunan and Fryatt are at).

Would take 3 points from the 2 games.  York also at home tomorrow night to Hereford.

Great piece on the Club with Stephen Cleeve giving his thoughts on how far we have come, Ian Culverhouse,  Full/part time IF we gain promotion.   Ground upgrades  done, and still to be done.  All kinds of stuff.

Well worth a read(page 7)

Also there is an almost full page on Wroxham’s 2-0 win over Stowmarket in the FA Vase, with a crowd of over 1,000.   Wroxham go into Monday’s Quarter Final draw.

Wroxham have been draw at Home to Bitton (whenever that is).  Game to be played at the end of the month.

General Discussion / Well, who saw that coming.

Bad day at the office without a doubt.  We were poor from the first minute.  Never strung anything together.  At half time IC could have permed any 3 from about 8 to take off.  We looked lethargic, almost disinterested.

Having said all of that the season these players have given us then we can accept one off day.  York winning has made it all that much closer at the top.  Next Saturday we need our good friends and rivals to do us a big favour.

Then Chester follow that with a trip to York next Saturday.

We have a job to do against Kidderminster next weekend.

I seem to remember certain fans were gagging for this guy to take over the Club

General Discussion / A few thoughts from the York game.
« on: January 19, 2020, 10:43:33 AM »
1.  Fantastic crowd of over 4,000.  The 3rd biggest in Non League Football.

2.  Car parking, rumours are that cars were being towed away from Tennyson Ave and parking tickets being handed out like confetti.   I seem to remember for the Oldham game the Club hired the parking at St James School. Surely if we had done this and also the same at the Hospital it would have got a few hundred cars out of the equation.  At a fiver a pop the club should have had some up sell there on the game.    Missed a trick there Mark.  Something that might need thinking about for the future.

3.  During York’s warm up balls were being loaded into Tennyson Road and cars being struck.  Would it make sense for some kind of high fence netting to be installed to prevent this ?

4. Toilets. There were long queues for the these on the main stand side, with males using the females and disabled facilities, and of course they were in a disgusting state.

Just a few things we can improve on, going forward.

General Discussion / The Forgotten Man/team
« on: January 06, 2020, 06:32:28 PM »
It seems like Neil and the Reserves have become the forgotten at the Club.   Is there a future for the Reserves ?   Not been a great season for them so far and I see they had a disappointing 4-0 defeat at bottom of the League Wisbech St Mary at the weekend.

General Discussion / Stats

Last season Stockport Co won the National League Northern with 82 points.  Lynn are currently sitting on 54points ( 28 points short of that 82 point total).  We have 18 games left (54 points up for grabs).

Time to start really believing ?

General Discussion / Spennymoor at home
« on: January 04, 2020, 12:05:30 PM »
Big game today and feel it’s gonna be a toughie.  Jarv will be a big miss, but Richards being in spanking form should cover.  Carey in for Kelly looks almost like for like.  Can see there only being 1 goal in it either way.  Going for us 2-1 with a crowd of 1300 plus.

York have a what looks difficult trip to Southport and Chester also won’t find it easy at Guiseley.  Interesting day ahead

General Discussion / New General/Commercial Manager appointment
« on: January 02, 2020, 10:43:44 AM »
Congratulations to Mark Hearle on his full time appointment with the Club.    A job that certainly needed creating.

I’m sure Mark as all the contacts and connections to pull in the much needed revenue to help the Clubs ambitions.

Will Mark be continuing with his media duties as well or will
The club look to promote a new person from within ?

Big section today looking back at 2019.   Plenty of plaudits in there for Ian Culverhouse.   Also decent mentions for Adam Marriott and Micheal Gash.

Only 1500 odd there for this one tonight.

With 80 mins on the clock it’s Hereford 2-1 York City

General Discussion / FA Cup Boston Utd
« on: December 02, 2019, 07:27:32 PM »
Newcastle at home for Boston if they beat Rochdale in the York Street replay.   What an occasion that would be, not to mention a money spinner.

AFC Fylde ( who knocked out Nantwich) go to Sheff Utd.  Decent pay day that one.

Think the Newcastle game ( if they win the replay). Will follow the Our New Years Day trip to Boston.  What a send off for the old York Street ground that would be.
