General Discussion / Re: FA Cup - home to Cheshunt
« on: September 08, 2024, 08:19:17 PM »
Was only a week or so back AL was complaining about the heavy schedule.   Maybe he is under strict instructions from above that a Cup run is imperative for the budget going forward.  So cannot afford any mistakes.

We performed well enough at home to Warrington with Gold up top on his lonesome as Margetts was suspended.  Gold notched twice that day I seem to recall

I feel the Media are very much behind the increase in numbers for home games.  They have really put the Club on the front foot.

Will be interesting to see the gate for this Saturday’s FA Cup tie.   Also AL saying he’s going with a full strength line up rather than get minutes into squad members.   So much for a punishing schedule.   The Manager can’t have it both ways.

Maybe after 8 games we should look to re-asses things.

Last season we were a bottom 6 team so is a step up to Play-offs to much of ask in one season?  We could well end up a mid table team and anything higher is a bonus.   For us to be challenging might need SC and in particular Joe to dig a lot deeper to get us up there challenging.   We shouldn’t forget we are competing against some massive Clubs for this level.  Scunny, Hereford, Chester Darlo to name just a few.

I’ve listened to AL’s post match.  Ok the ref wasn’t what he would hope for but he didn’t deny us drawing a blank in terms of us finding the net.  I must say i preferred the forthright and tell it how it is Adam of last season than the one this season where he seems to be scratching around looking for excuses as to why he feels we underperformed

On a positive note last season they beat us 4-0 at The Walks.

Maybe Julie ( being North based) does the away games ?  I’m sure they must have an official there to deal with  Match Day  stuff

Who is the Secretary these days, still the lady based in the North ?  I have little idea on who fills what Roles these days.    Do we have a new H&S officer yet ?  And did the overseas Commercial Director role ever get filled ?

Thanks WLM but seems strange that Clubs under the same umbrella are playing to different rules.  Maybe some Clubs don’t have big enough dugouts to hold 7 subs plus all the backroom staff they seem to have these day  :laughcry:

Going off thread … Does anyone know why in NLN AND NLS you can name 5 subs and use 5 subs.  Yet in the NL you can name 7 subs and use any 5 of them.

Just asking as it looks like in our opening 5 games we went with a 2nd keeper on the bench but in the last two games he’s been omitted.  Not sure why

Would take draw but can see us maybe suffering an odd goal defeat.  Free hit this one.  The same as Sports had when they came to us Bank Holiday Monday.   However a win tonight would balance off thr home defeat

News of former Linnets / Re: Alex Street

Think it was a one off Rod as Setch was struggling for a keeper yesterday and called in a favour.  Pedro must have quit or got the sack as Wisbech Manager.

Watched the highlights of the game on You Tube earlier.  Have to say it was a very controlled performance.  Two excellent Margetts goals.  Should have had another as well.  Poor goal we gave away from a corner, guy had a free header.

Overall thought 2-1 flattered them.
