General Discussion / Fixture list
« on: November 18, 2015, 09:47:59 AM »
With our last League home (Slough) on Nov 7th it now looks as though we won't have another home game until Dec 12th.  How can the fixture list be that unbalanced.

Some clubs with no gate revenue for all that time would find it a struggle.

At least the Reserves should see some benefit with the football starved public.

Maybe Setch is looking at bigger prizes and doesnt want to overload his squad with extra games, that In fairness dont mean to much.  I would suggest the Norfolk Senior Cup ranks about the same level as The League KO Cup.

Also it gives The reserve team players the opportunity  to test themselves aganist higher level oppostion if they progress.  All part of the development.  Then come the end of the season if we were to reach the Semi Final, nothing to stop loading the team full of first teamers and then hopefully giving them a run out at Carrow Road.

Sometimes you earn your own luck.  Hilliard not going to America, Robbie Back seeing the potenial in Dylan Edge and progressing him on into a first team player.  Even Robbie back wanting the job as Reserve Team manager, when some people close to that set-up were, lets be kind, and say unsure about him. Even Buster becoming the head man in British Speedway.  Good Luck, fate, call it what you will.

Setch deserves every bit of luck that falls his way.

Straight talking from Setch, as always.    One little point Lynn have shipped 5 or more goals on a good few   occassions inder Setch, as I recall.  Cambridge at Home, In the Trophy.  Just last season  Ashton and Buxton.  Also didnt Skelmesdale beat us by 5 or 6 at The Walks ?

Tazzy, I think it is a little unfair to compare young Dylan with Jack, two totally different players.  One who had potential and delivered. The other a Young lad who Setch is nuturing along who will hopefully deliver in the future.  Lets give the lad some space and time and let him develop.  No Point in heaping terms like the next Jack Defty on his shoulder.  How about Just the first Dylan Edge ?

So all in all would you say that exciting times ahead  Tazz ?  But lets not forget at some point these exciting times in the future have to be delivered.

Good post TDA... With a young Inexpereinced squad we have to expect the  highs and Lows while these boys adapt to this level of Football.  We are going to get the odd thrashing ( In terms of result) that is something that will happen, from time to time.  I would expect us to start reaping the benefits from this toal change in policy ( forced or otherwise)  In a couple of seasons time.   One of the big things in Football now is time, or rather the lack of it, given too a manager to develop a squad, system and with it the results that will follow.  It seems like everyone wants success, and wants it Yesterday.  So what is a manager to do ?  He needs to hit the ground running, no time to build a squad as reuslts are what is now demanded.  I understand the guy at Stamford only could  8 weeks, and was gone.

The beauty of The set up at Lynn is Setch is now is own man, no one breathing down his neck if results dont come straight away, he can relax in his job, Knowing he is secure in his postion.  Also he should have the cashm sitting there waiting to spend IF he needs to bring that one player in who can help in the develiopment of these Youngsters.  I cannot believe that the money being spent on this years team is anywhere near the amount that was being spent last season.

The one thing is though at some point this team/Squad has to deliver.... You cannot be work in progress year after year.

To be fair to Setch he has built his team to play in the Southern Divsion of the Glue League. I always feel the Nothern section is more physical League and players always appear to be bigger and stronger.

I really can't see us signing that striker who could maybe notch the goals that would hopefully push us into the top 5. Question would be is this lack of ambition or just lack of money? So it would appear we are going to go with Mulready, Hlliard, Stevo and young Edge to try and grab the goals. I wonder if Setch should ask Robbie Back to step in and do some coaching with the strikers. The reasons ? Well the Reserves seem to have no problem finding the net at their level ( another 4yesterday) plus Backie was a decent goal scorer back in the day, and finally whoever is coaching the strikers at moment  it would appear to not be working.

Didnt Setch say he had the balance right with local players and the players from away ?  On that basis, If we signed George  then it have to be one of the imports who leave.  Steveo plays that Number 10 role that George made his own last season.   Good swap ???

Is that Drurys 3rd or 4th spell at Stamford ?  I had a feeling the last time he was there he left them in the s...(oup) and went to Corby taking a good few players with him.   With Stamford well in trouble, he is in a win win situation.

With the ethos being on grow your own cannot see George being back at the Walks anytime soon.

On the subject of local players can someone tell who were the 9 players who live in  Kings Lynn  who played for the first team this season in one game this season ?

Despite last nights result it was good to hear that Young Edge scored his first ( of many) Goal for the team.  Will he get a run in the team now or still be throw on from the bench.

I think the one big winner on Saturday could be Abigail.
