General Discussion / Re: Linnets drop to 7th.

If we fall short of the play offs it's still been a vast improvement on last season, in terms of League position.   Hopefully Jo and Bal will have seen enough to continue to support it next season.   AL will add a few and lose a few, player wise to make us even more  competitive.

As for SC next season who knows ?  Not sure what he will bring to the party.

Excellent 3 points that.  Keeps Lynn in the mix for a top 7th place.  Looks like AL got it spot on with Gold starting.

Pink, Warburton wasn't AL's first choice as it seems a few turned us down before we got to him.  Just feel we needed a 9 not another 10.   However it has to be more of beggars can't be choosers.  So think we should be grateful we have got somebody in.

In fairness the guy can't be as bad as what AL's other two signings have been in Gold and Williams.  I just very much hope Lakeland has got this one right.  I guess when he's up to speed we will find out.

Forget a fee...

Just do a straight swap for Hemmings

Maybe if he's not going to up to speed for a few weeks then could he be a signing for next season?

Let's hope we can put get back to winning games Paul and see where that takes us.  It's the hope that kills you.

Think it's all an interesting debate.

After AL dug SC out of a hole and saved our NLN status.  So this season was really Lakeland's first go at it here.  The Manager himself was the one who raised the expectation bar with his comment about not travelling 4 hours each day to not be competing at the top.

Maybe a mid table position should be acceptable to all as progress from last season.  Hopefully once Jo and Bal have taken over, next season will see us taking that next step with AL adding to the squad and releasing those that haven't quite cut it.

Paul I'm not sure that is strictly true.  Another Club did make an offer for Gold. He didn't fancy the Manager at the Club. So turned the move down.  Williams as I understand it doesn't want to go out loan. So that's those two strikers clogging up the process to bring others in.

Think AL realises he has made a massive mistake in signing both Gold and Williams as neither have produced.  In a nutshell those two signings could well have cost the Club a play off place.

Good to see you back Paul.  Always the voice ( words) of reason.

Are you suggesting we got gazumped by Chester for the lad from Warrington.  Guess these things happen.  Though it is a worry if Part time Alfreton did the same with the lad Osbourne.

Is the uncertainty with the Cleeve and Jo/Bal situation having some kind of effect ?  The situation is worrying in the time now it appears to be dragging on.  My concern is if a deal is not done and Jo's money disappears can SC fund it going forward.

John, tell me you didn't expect us to get beat there tonight ?

We are miles off it.  Last 13 games have pulled in 16 points with just 16 goals scored.  We are creating very little.  No McFadden or Johnson again tonight.  Nothing new player wise coming through the door.  No info on what's happening with players or indeed off the field activities.

I've got us done as finishing 11th.  So maybe time for everyone to downgrade their expectations

We have fallen a mighty long way from the team that thumped Kiddie 4-0 at home..

Brown seems to be suggesting there is number of players who want him out so have downed tools.

Didn't he have issues with Hull back in their Premiership days ?  Maybe old school has had its day.

Barrett got a time added on winner for Aldershot yesterday in a 3-2 result.  Remind me again how much did we get for him ?  He's scored more goals in a poor Shots team this season at NL level than our leading goalscorer has at NLN level.

AL deserves a lot of credit for digging Cleeve out of a hole last season following  the poor choice of Manager (Hughes).  We need to be hard to beat to get out of trouble.  Mission accomplished.

This season was very much AL's team.  Think we are more than decent at the back but we are very toothless up front.  Can't expect the team to keep clean sheets every week to pull in points.  The entertainment value at the Walks hasn't been great this season but Lakeland seems to built everything on a tight defence and nicking a goal.

How long has AL's contract got to run ?   I guess the commuting to Lynn from the North West has a limited life span.  It would seem Lakeland's contacts are very Northern based so might be another frustration with not being able to get fresh bodies through the door.

Though having said that you can't get much local than Toll and he couldn't get him.

Who knows maybe it's getting to AL.   The travelling to Norfolk from the North West, the frustration of players not wanting to come to Lynn and indeed a player choosing to go to part time Alfreton.  Chuck in the fact we were in their challenging for the top shop a few short weeks ago.  Come Tuesday we could well be outside the play off places.

Even the situation with Cleeve, Jo/Bal  might be giving him concern
