General Discussion / Re: Sutton United

Next season will see 12 (?) Ex League teams ( 1 more than this season) battling for 2 places back in the Football League.   Seemingly once you hit the Non League scene itís a tough crawl back for many.  Salford, Harrogate and now Sutton have shown itís possible to finish ahead of these financially well supported Clubs.

Money is a vital ingredient but itís not the whole story.

People are out of the habit of spending money.   Retail bricks and mortar are reporting footfall down by nearly 30% since they reopened.

The way people lead their lifeís could look very different going forward.  Donít just think because people use to rock up at the Walks and hand over their £20 plus that they will automatically do this now we have easing of restrictions.

All forms of business are going to work that much harder to get people to part with their brass.

Is that all it is ???..........well 700-800 would be decent then :laughcry:

What can you get for £20 these days....a new cafe opened near us, so we tried it....2 large coffees and bread and butter puddings with sour cherries......nearly £15.

I think they should try and make a package up for the Walks...... admission plus programme plus snack eg hot sausage roll  and hot drink...£25 say.

It's all the add ons that can add up......... admission £20, programme ?, snack, hot drink, petrol there and back......

KES if you dine at The Ivy then pay Ivy Prices.   Or you can travel to Lynn pay Championship prices to watch Non League Football. :laughcry:

Maybe it was a trade off.   With players expectations seemingly much lower ( SC mentioned players available at £400 a week). Maybe players are accepting less money but asking for a longer contract.   Win win.

With a clutch of Ex League Clubs chasing that one golden ticket how refreshing to see an unfashionable Club making it into the Football League.

Sutton this season.  Harrogate ( via the play-offs) last season.   Any suggestion for next season ? :mystic:

Sounds like recruitment is well under way.  Be interesting to see who the first one or two in are.   Will set the stall out for what the fans can expect to see next season.

Good to get an early signing in.  Helps with season ticket sales.

Is the new Sponsorship just a one year deal or longer ?

Itís great the club is pulling in such deals.  25k for the stand, the home shirt deal must be some real serious money.   How times change.

Fantastic idea that Mike.  If the Sponsor would allow it.  Then again why not as they want to sponsor it but donít want any involvement in using their name on it.

The only other idea I would throw in the mix is The NHS Stand

Bourne to Yarmouth could be a decent trip.   They wonít want to put that fixture into Aug/Sept

Certainly would KES.  IC could then have a decent budget to put a new squad together to compete away from the relegation scrap.

Letís hope for a sell out for these last two games followed by a high take up of the season ticket offer when that becomes available.  Factor in all that money from the gov loan and the Club should be well set to kick off the new season

I guess being a Uni team then their squad will be quite fluid.
