General Discussion / Re: Hughes next to go?
« on: January 26, 2024, 06:02:13 PM »
Pink, imho is does seem very much like AL is trying anything in a hope that he is lucky to hit on something that works for him.  I donít see any structure like we had with both IC and TW.

His comment about next season said a lot for me,  reading between the lines.

I would see TW signing Barrett as a chance for Josh to get himself somewhere near to match fitness to earn himself a contract for next season.   I can well see him being mainly used in a cameo role for say the last 10-15 mins when the pace of the game will be more suited to him and the when the game is Ďstretchedí.

Not the sort of player you would want to bring on when you are holding on for a point of protecting an odd goal lead

Listening to the interview it seems that is a lot of issues all coming into play thatís caused all
Our issues.

Hughes.... players not fit poor recruitment

Cleeve .....off field issues

Ground staff.... pitch not up to it

Players...... not enough experience/ letting him down.

Club......  being full time is now an issue.

General Discussion / Re: Lynn lose to Curzon.
« on: January 25, 2024, 12:09:03 PM »
First half nothing stuck when we played it forward and Curzon just mopped up quite easily and we were then on the backfoot each time.

After the break AL decided  to throw Coulson up top as part of a three chucking howitzerís at him to flick on.   Is that really where we as a full time Club are at ?  As soon as Curzon stepped up out of 2nd gear and scored their 4th then that plan was scrapped.

Have to wonder what the players opinion on Lakeland is.  How many fancy putting it in too keep him in a job and how many think the guy is not for them ?

Perhaps more will be revealed on Saturday.  Another humiliating home defeat and surely itís game over .

This is the same Lakelandís Curzon Ashton side  that Mark Hughes took an  unfit ( ALís word) Lynn side there earlier in the season to take a point.

It all does seem a bit sketchy with ref to the terms of this so called investment.   Where has the idea come from that everything is dependent on staying at step 2?

With the new investors(owners) having come onboard is it not about time we were hearing from them and what plans they have, going forward ?

It has all gone very quiet since the low key announcement.  Are they happy with the way things are happening and pleased with how their investment is being spent.

Good opportunity for SC to do one of his infamous ( overdue) podcasts with the new guy involved.

I make it 18 players are in the squad who either were Lakeland signings or were in the squad last season that finished 2nd.

Lakeland has had 5 months at it.  Heís averaging under a point a game.  Can anyone tell me what improvement we have made under his tenure. Last night was no better than Hughes was offering.  In fairness some would say itís got worse.

Fear the worst ?  We have new investors in.  I wonder if they were there tonight checking on how SC is spending their money ?

Where does the club go from here ?  Lakeland needs to hold his hands up and admit heís has failed abysmally.  Cleeve needs to admit to yet another cock up managerial appointment.

Would Backie be able to step in and steady the ship, once again ?  He dug Cleeve out of a hole after the Clark mistake.  Would he be up for a repeat performance ?

Hope ?  I donít see to much of that out there.  Will Lakeland walk tonight or Cleeve give him the order of the Tin Tack in the morning.

One word .....embarrassing

As I said before Tony, if there is one Manager who knows his worth then itís Widdrington.  SC has allowed him to Ďstealí him away.  I would have thought TW was the last person Lynn would be doing a favour.

And fitter ?  Which if so is a worry for a full time team when we are playing a part time outfit.

Not to mention a sell on fee if the players moves on further.
