General Discussion / Re: Home defeat
« on: September 08, 2024, 08:05:28 AM »
:oldman" :farmer: in reality we need to win these home games, top teams win at home at a canter and pick up points on the road at regular intervals. We seem capable of picking up those points on our travels so far, the return for away games, I would say has been acceptable, even though we really have not faced up against any top teams except one possibly. If indeed we are serious about trying for promotion via play offs or indeed winning this league home wins are vital for more than one reason, obviously points needed top maintain a challenge, we all know Lynn fans are fickle and 11=1300 is a really good turnout for a home match, I know people will argue we can pull in more fans and yes we can occasionally but a genuine core is the stated figure in my opinion. We need this number week in week out and two home defeats and some fans will start looking at costs and value for money and start looking whether we can really get in to a promotion challenging position. AL has had good backing from the football club since he has been here and he now has HIS squad of players, not ones he inherited and we really need to be seeing home wins to keep the fickle fans entering through those turnstiles and two defeats on the trot at home does not help. Full time professional team, we need to address these concerns and start picking up those home wins as soon as possible. Early doors as yet I know but points on the board are always welcome. :farmer: :oldman"

Daz can’t see that.  AL will be watching Scarborough’s performance today.  Looking for weakness’s and seeing where there strengths are.  After a home defeat.  Confidence may take a hit or it can galvanise some teams.  Would you not agree ?
All I’m saying Mall is I don’t get all this hype around results, good runs eventually end as do bad runs , IMHO it’s all down to who puts the ball in the oppositions net the most.

Certainly a different line up with No out and big one up top.   Looks like AL has another string to his bow in only going with 1 strikers but plenty of young legs in support.

Excellent 3 points on the Road.  I see our next opponents got beat at home today.  Never know if that’s a good or bad thing.
Our next opponents result today has no bearing what so ever on what happens when we travel there, it’s down to AL and the squad he picks to perform on the pitch and come away with a result if possible. If however we loose, if we put in as much effort as we can and get beaten by a better team, we have to accept that on the day.

:farmer: :oldman" totally agree with you on that also Kenny.  Let’s hope the commercial side of the business has also had an uplift as this is badly needed. I noticed looking at the training pictures of the players, that there does seem to be some new advertising hoardings around the perimeter of the pitch and ground, these are badly needed as we were definitely lacking in that department and this is a good opportunity to use the space to provide an income stream for the club. :oldman" :farmer:

General Discussion / The Day Has Arrived

:farmer: :oldman" Well we are finally ready to set of on our journey for another season. I would be interested to gauge people’s feelings on what they feel we have to look forward to. I personally feel we have obviously got a lot better squad than at this time last season, with better strength in all areas, let’s face it recruitment last year was abysmal, to say the least. I feel we have definitely got a better manager than we’ve had for a while who also has a very able deputy and both have a far deeper understanding of this league and what’s required to win matches in it than the previous incumbent’s. I have a positive view on the season ahead, but only time will tell. COYL.
Over to you all now for your thoughts. :oldman" :farmer:

:farmer: :oldman" For those who are unaware, the team played at Deeping on Friday evening and came away with a four goal win without conceding. I do realise it’s early doors but I feel the club could have informed the fans of the result, yes it’s only a friendly but we won and I have not seen a mention anywhere. :oldman" :farmer:

I thought he was excellent prior to getting injured.
I also thought he was a good keeper prior to his injury. Possibly never got another chance after that due to the form shown by Jones. Good luck young man.
