General Discussion / Blyth Spartans now owned by its Supporters.
« on: November 04, 2024, 02:24:16 PM »
From the FSA:

"We were delighted to welcome Blyth Spartans into our family of community-owned clubs this week, following the formation of its Community Interest Company (CIC).

Spartans move into community ownership with immediate effect, ending a period of uncertainty under previous owner Irfan Liaquat which led to home games being postponed following the resignation of key club officials and volunteers.

Kevin Miles, chief executive of the Football Supporters’ Association, said: "Community ownership of a football club through a CIC, with the involvement of fans and the local community, is the best guarantee of a permanent future for a club.

"I am delighted a new era of community and supporter ownership of the club has begun."

General Discussion / A Budget for nobody?
« on: October 31, 2024, 03:07:45 PM »
Following yesterdays budget, people will have their own opinions on what the budget is going to deliver, but I'm wondering how it will affect Football and in particulars cash strapped Clubs in NL, NLN and NLS?

With the onus of tax increases being placed firmly at the door of the business sector, many of whom are still trying to recover from the problems Covid gave them, followed by the current war in The Ukraine, any kind of increase in outgoings must make business owners feel as if they are being kicked while they are down.

How will it affect Full Time Non League Clubs? I presume that full time footballers are employed in the same manner as other employed people?  :dontknow:

If Clubs are running with a 20 plus playing staff, that's going to be one hell of a lot more money going out the door, at the same time as income revenues will continue to be restricted due to the general cost of living (and now also with the expected cost of mortgages increasing).

General Discussion / Commercial Director
« on: October 28, 2024, 10:30:39 AM »
Is the Asian Gentleman that's been introducing himself to supporters as Bal at the last two or three home games, going to be our new Commercial Director? Apparently he has been very interested in the whole match day experience and not just watching the games. If so, that show's some forward thinking is going into it from day one.

If Bal is our man, I've no idea what EFL Club he has previously been involved with. It's common knowledge that Colchester are looking for a new Commercial man, but then again I would guess that such a position is a bit of a merry-go-round for may Clubs.

Maybe, maybe not.   :dontknow:
