General Discussion / The season

Covid has halted the non-league season at Step 3 and below.

Conversations will take place between leagues over the coming days before the FA Council meets to discuss the situation.

There is increasing acknowledgment that completing the season as planned may not be possible.

General Discussion / Re: Norfolk in Tier 4 from 0001 Boxing Day
« on: December 31, 2020, 03:21:04 PM »

"The football club has begun this week the refund process for the postponed Notts County fixture, due to have been played on Boxing Day at The Walks. However we have been contacted by supporters, of both clubs, who wished for us to keep their ticket money as a donation to King’s Lynn Town Football Club.

Supporters of both Clubs? I can't keep up with all this. Were away supporters allowed to attend the game?  :dontknow:

Under English contract law, if a contact is impossible to complete, then the contract can become void.

I wouldn’t think that would apply at the moment, but could be the case if season is abandoned.

i.e. players are under contract to play football but there’s no football to be played.

No fault of either party to the contract.

A “no fault” situation.

It's a worldwide Pandemic.

Maybe unprecedented times calls for unprecedented action!  :dontknow:

Have to agree.

Govt pot is not bottomless. Everything has to be paid for sooner or later. Funding does not come from a magic pot of Gold that they found at the end of a rainbow.

Far more important things that need funding than football.

Food on the table, roof over peoples heads is surely far more important.

Locally, we have organisations such as Kings Lynn Foodbank and Purfleet Trust as examples, who must look on with envy at the money these Clubs have already received.

It's a time for necessities rather than luxuries!

I think the next 2 months might see a return to the strictest lock down conditions, with things being moth balled for a couple of months......when that happens we may see further emergency may also be that players will just be  paid a retainer across the leagues, until competitions resume.

Kes, thats a far too simple solution!

Majority of other people have seen income reduced, but not the majority of footballers. Seems crazy to me, especially when its a second income for quite a few of them.

Looks and sounds as if the  "football family" are arguing amongst themselves now.

Claims that the first lot of money was not distributed fairly, so if they change the formula this time I presume Lynn could get even less than the 35k per month as mentioned by Mallard.

Loan or grant? I wouldn't be too bothered about that. I presume it will be unsecured borrowing (if not I presume the offer would be declined). If its a loan I can see Club Chairmen pleading poverty and saying they would be made bankrupt if forced to pay it back, hoping the debt could then possibly be wiped out.  :dontknow:

Not one of IC’s better signings, as it turned out.

Yesterday Woking got stuffed 3-0 and Loza was pulled off. .

What, as well as a  42% pay rise and a signing on fee?

Jamar Loza
Fake news
Didn’t get a signing on fee or a 40% pay rise

Maybe it was imported with the mass exodus of people out of London ,jumping us out tier 2 into tier 4 in a week ?

Interesting theory. I would think that any that didn't follow the rules during the Pandemic, ignored social distancing, thought the rules didn't apply to them etc, all had their part to play in spreading the virus.

With how the virus has been spreading in Norfolk, I think we have been very lucky for this not to happen before now, and that there's only been the one case so far.

Regular testing must become mandatory, surely?   :dontknow:

Looking for a positive with regards to the situation, at least there will now be a chance that the rearranged game can be played in front of paying supporters.

:banghead; reading our homepage it states 1 of our staff members tests positive for Covid-19, however it makes no difference whether it is our staff or Notts County staff members, LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN 22 PEOPLE, kicking a bag of wind around.
