Remember we chased coalville down.

Indeed we did!

we are not a bad team overnight

Never quite agreed with this one though. Hopefully not, but as Coalville proved, its perfectly possible that it can happen.

Greg Plummer report:

National League North

Gateshead 1, King's Lynn Town 2

Simon Power was the matchwinner as his first goals for King's Lynn Town gave them a crucial away win this afternoon.

The Norwich City loanee put the Linnets in front after 17 minutes as Ian Culverhouse's side controlled the first period at the International Stadium.

But they were pegged back six minutes after the restart when JJ O'Donnell headed home a leveller for Gateshead, who were unbeaten in 11 at the start of play, from a corner.

And the West Norfolk side found themselves under severe pressure for much of the second half at a ground they had not won on in five previous visits.

But they found a winner eight minutes from time when Sonny Carey found Power, who beat two defenders before firing home.

Linnets boss Ian Culverhouse said: "It's a massive win for us and I can't speak highly enough of the players who keep coming up with the answers.

"I thought first half we were excellent, we bossed the game and kept possession but in the second half they really came at us and we were hanging on in the end.

"We got done from a restart, which I was disappointed about because we are normally good at them, and it became a battle after that.

"Simon (Power) has come back in and took his goals really well. He has got to learn the game but he's got a good future. He's a good weapon to have in your side."

Tensions looked set to boil over amid some altercations between rival supporters on the final whistle and the Lynn team bus was given a police escort away from the ground.

With their main title rivals York City winning 3-1 at Alfreton Town, Lynn remain second in the table, two points behind the Yorkshire outfit with four games in hand.

However, they can return to the top on Tuesday with a win over bottom side Bradford Park Avenue - who recorded only their fourth league win of the season today against Chester - at the Walks

Yes Kes, as Dilly has said, I think you must be missing something.

Agreed nobody should panic, but the potential harm this Corona virus could do is eormous. Basically, if the Professionals are warning us and telling/advising us what to do or not to do, I personally don't think Its worth ignoring what they have to say.

In fact, I would go as far to say that in the UK the official response has been relatively low key compared to other Countries, and that's probably due to those in Power being afraid of the financial consequences a more drastic response would create.

Thanks for that, Lindsay’s boot.  Good luck to IC and the team today.  Considering the serious stuff going on in the world today, particularly the current “nasty” that hasn’t yet hit our corner, talking in depth about our footy fix might be a bit trite.  So only a quickie from me - I just hope IC picks a strongly attacking line-up, because we don’t need the Gateshead form team all over our penalty area for 90 minutes ... COYL !

Apparently the "nasty" has already "hit our corner" with a couple from Heacham currently in isolation due to the hotel they stayed in recently, when in Tenerife.

That will help pay for the £400 fine for the confrontation in the Altrincham game.

For those of you wondering what the above refers to, I would assume its this:

Kings Lynn Town FC, National League – North

Kings Lynn Town FC v Altrincham FC
National League – North
2 November 2019

Breach of FA Rule E20(a) - It is alleged that following the conclusion of the fixture, King’s Lynn Town FC failed to ensure that its players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

Charge admitted – contest Standard Penalty 1 (£400 fine).

It happens, both with those involved in football and other business's.

Not such a rare event as some would think.

Why don't the trust lend the club some money to overcome their cash flow difficulties?

Its all self inflicted Stan. Don't spend what you haven't got. That's what most of us do. Surely a proper business overdraft would be the way forward.
Even if the Trust was allowed to lend the Club money, it would be very risky. With Club debts nearly £300k apparently, it could be seen as throwing good money after bad.

I think the 300k is up to last tax year. Just a guess, but I think its reasonable to assume that its increased since then   :dontknow:

....and 2 more expensive away trips..........the one at Gateshead, would ideally be a travel the day before job, hotel bills etc....

I had heard that they were planning an overnight stay but don't know if that's still the plan.

Seems I got that wrong.   Stephen Cleeve ( on Twitter) has put out an appeal for people to buy their tickets for the Bradford game ASAP to help with a current cash flow problem.

With all the games we have left maybe he could offer a 4 match discounted  ticket to bring in some cash quick.  I know Boston did this quite successfully, recently.

Mark (Hearle) would that be an option ?  Maybe just make it available for 7 days to get the cash in quick.

For those not on Twitter this is the Chairmans post.

It would be a huge help for those of you that are coming to the Bradford Park Avenue home game if you buy your tickets this week - would help the club’s cash flow a lot

It must be a complete nightmare at the moment. Vat would have needed to be paid only a couple of weeks back and I would guess wages are now due with it being end of month. And of course the wages have increased recently with the addition of playing and non playing staff.

Bills keep rolling in even if the money doesn't.

This weather has got a lot to answer for!

If you think this is bad . . .

With the Southport game falling victim to the weather it means Lynn have managed to play just the two games in February . . but it could have been worse.
On Boxing Day 1962 (it was a Wednesday) Lynn entertained Ramsgate Athletic, winning 2-1 in front of a Walks crowd of 750 and it was not until 16th March that they saw another home game.

During the eighty days of inactivity at The Walks Lynn did manage to play twice: away to Hastings on 23rd February and to Dover on 9th March.
April 1963 was something of a catch-up month with Lynn playing eleven times (winning seven and drawing two). The season eventually ended on 18th May.

(Thanks to Admin).

His words were.

In a hell of a state no football is going to be played here today.

Inspection due?  :dontknow:
