General Discussion / Re: Retained list
« on: May 20, 2022, 03:00:32 PM »
Re-set button appears to have been pressed at Lynn, if not at other clubs.

Presumably, we'll see a lot more movement/encouraging signs when the 4 players in negotiations have decided what they want to do.

Early days.

https://www.lynnnews.co.uk/sport/linnets-announce-retained-list-of-players-9255407/

The Linnets have released the quartet of Joe Gascoigne, Jak Hickman, Arthur Iontton and Cameron King.

The club remain in contract negotiations with the "big four" of Ross Barrows, Michael Clunan, Aaron Jones and Paul Jones, for next season.

Grapevine around the Leagues is saying that the only one likely to stay is Paul Jones, but time will tell on that one.  :dontknow:

Some Clubs still appear to be offering silly money to get the signatures of the players they want.

At last a bright spot with Barry Pierpoint coming on board, but wil he  be given full
reign to do his job. I believe it be one of his biggest jobs yet to get all the lost contacts
in the town over the past years , plus what Mark Hearle ha built up, but I wish him
all the very best to get some good feeling back to the club which has been missing of late.
some one was saying that he is not letting the grass grow under his feet, talking
grass up on till Wed when I last looked nothing what so ever had been done to the pitch
what a lost opportunity to get the seed in early the to give it a good chanch to get strong
growth, and with all the rain we are getting  it might be just me. Or we might be getting a
3 G pitch ?.

Surely someone of BP's experience will be given full reign to do his job.

A47, do you have doubts that will be the case?

Pretty good article on the Lynn News website

https://www.lynnnews.co.uk/sport/new-linnets-ceo-speaks-about-his-vision-for-the-future-9255127/?fbclid=IwAR0qjOLawbNPievx_XPglbbjUWAip_nOUq0_2UFqu6J4ah81dW8rudyht-Q

Certainly says a lot of the right things in the interview although there is also a worrying reference to the 'sleeping giant' nonsense.

Very much so. Old, overworked Cliche, that unfortunately hasn't been relevant to Lynn, for a long long time.

From what I hear, and the reaching out that has already been set in motion, I'm confident of him sorting out the remnants of the old Clique, which will allow him to utilise the talents of many that have previously been excluded (to the Clubs loss).

Something to look forward to.

What a positive step.  Having the new CEO and The Owner  at a fans meeting.  All credit to BP he’s not letting that grass grow.

Mallard. You appear to be more excited about BP coming on board than you are about TW leading us on a promotion challenge for next season!   :dontknow:

We have had plenty of false dawns on the commercial side previously so to see someone with the background and experience that BP brings to the party it’s reason enough to think SC might be onto something with him.  Mind it has taken 5 years to get someone of the right stature.

As for TW, for me the jury is out.  He has massive boots to fill this season.  I don’t see anything on his CV to suggest that we have another title winning Manager on our hands.

Maybe, but during the short time he has been here, especially with what he inherited, I think TW has proven that he's at least equal to the previous Management team when it comes to getting the best out of what he has to work with.

As far as BP is concerned, no such big boots to fill! In reality he can only take anything to do with the commercial side of the club in one direction!

If you plan to attend please can you email digital@KLTown.co.uk quoting "WILL ATTEND" in the subject line?

Any idea what having to register (ie send an email) is all about?

If people don't send an e-mail, will they be refused entry?   :dontknow:

He has been around a bit - I wonder how long he will stay?

Just turned 71 years of age. Been around a long time.

I wonder if Barry will be the guest on SC’s next podcast?  Must be due a new one.  It must be getting on for two months since the last one.

SC does like to get a regular one out there. :scarf:

Or maybe old time friend, Steve Evans.   :dontknow:

General Discussion / Re: Is TW the right man
« on: May 17, 2022, 01:58:11 PM »
For me as much depends on what happens off the pitch as on it.

In TW's favour he seems to have a much better relationship with SC than IC did which is not difficult I guess.  He also improved the physicality of the side, which was most evident in McGavin and Omotayo who looked far better under him.  Loan signings of Phipps and Coulson may well point to reasonable contacts in the Essex area but the signing of Walker maybe proves you can't get everything right

I do worry about whether TW will cope with the budget constraints which will have to exist next year which will exist whether we are full or part-time and comments about training facilities and overnight stops for 'longer' trips point to potential clashes with SC on the horizon.  I think the jury is also still out in terms of TW's style of play and how much of this season was dictated by circumstance and working with what players he had / could attract to the club mid-season and whether we can expect something a little different when it is his squad that starts 2022-23

Personally I think the relationship with SC means TW should be given the nod for next year but I just hope SC and the fans have realistic expectations of what success looks when judging TW

General Discussion / Re: IV Geezers. Part 2 Fotl related

TONYM  there are no exact choice of genre, music, etc. But being a member of a regular social club involving live music, this is definitely the best choice out there to get punters in...they have a hard core off  followers and guarantee a decent turnout.. Well done everyone involved 👏👏👏

Appreciate we all have different tastes, I wouldn't imagine we would pack out the B&G with my choice of music and pleased to hear that you think IV Geezers are a good choice and should get a crowd in which is what we would all like to see.  I guess this is the sort of band we are looking for with their 'own' following rather than having to rely on FotL members, hopefully those who go will enjoy themselves and the B&G can become a viable venue on the local music scene.

Is he any relation to Albert.  Now that would put a different slant on things

Uncle Albert. Do you think he's married to Auntie Doris?

Has the Chairman put his neck on the line for this one?

In fairness it seemed that when Malc took over as Chairman it seemed like a new, forward thinking FOTL was upon us.  Since then it’s been a bit of a damp squid.  Even a basic thing like an online membership was beyond them, this despite several assurances it was on its way.

Sorry to disappoint Mallard, the guy who was dealing with the online membership left the comeittee,as soon as I can get it arranged it should be on the club page! Until then if people wish to join they will have to to do it the old fashioned way, fill in a form and either post it or hand it to a committee member. If needs be I can post a form to people with a stamped addressed envelope or possibly walk to their home?

John. Wroxham is a long way to walk.   :laughcry:

If you undertake that, would you like me to sponsor you?   :laughcry:
