General Discussion / Re: Linnets score late but still lose away.
« on: November 10, 2024, 11:58:42 AM »
Just watched AL's post match interview. Seemed quite defensive: blaming officials, injuries, travelling etc perhaps with some justification but players might feed off this and use it as an excuse for under performance and poor outcomes?

"It's not my fault" culture.

It's everywhere these days, not just football. Get it off my desk, onto someone else's so they can deal with it.

Officials. Do Managers, players and supporters ever not criticise officials? If they do compliment, it's very rare

Injuries. All teams go through this at sometime during the season. It's part of football. Were South Shields injury free?

Travelling. Have they stopped the overnight stays? If not, that shouldn't even come into it. It's a waste of Chairmans money if he has to pay for expensive overnight stays but the Manager and players still believe that travelling is an issue. Maybe they should consider stopping the overnight stays and put the money into additional players. Anyway, I didn't think AL had a problem with doing lots of miles.

Agree Rod, if players are looking for an excuse, they'll latch onto this. Not exactly what you would call motivational.

A week ago we were in with a shout of going top.  Tonight we sit 7th in the final play spot.  Tuesday could see us slip outside of the play-offs.  This League is so so tight and not much in it from top to bottom.

Two lads out of the Academy on the bench today with a goalkeeper and two defenders.  We look to be running it tight in terms of numbers.  Will that be our Achilles heel ?

Two teams immediately below us have games in hand, as do a couple above us in play off positions. All very tight but with recent results it's starting to look more like a mid table than play off team.

So Joe documented his journey in some detail to the discount hotel...and that's where the trail ended :thanks:

Why didn't he buy a return ticket?

Why choose to  post a picture of just his train ticket and not the plane ticket?  :dontknow:

International man of mystery.

3rd loss on the bounce for Lynn as they go down 2-1 away at South Shields.

Margetts returns to starting line up but misses from the spot.

Att: 2622.

Elsewhere, Scunthorpe also lose again (at home) with Chorley winning their home game.

Well it's all a bit strange. Not sure whether others agree, but from my perspective one of the reasons the town doesn't buy into the club in a big way is the lack of clarity/transparency. What are the current aims of the club....what are its financial capabilities? Is there any point at all in finishing in a play off position. The gap which exists to the National League means promotion would probably require a whole new squad...can the club afford it ?. It's difficult to get too enthusiastic when there is no obvious plan or end result in mind.

Hey Joe, watcha doin' with that Club in your hand..................................

What surprised me is that someone who is so important to the future of The Linnets, had to travel 17 hours by plane and then had to get a Train from London to Lynn!

Why wasn't he picked up from London by a Club representative?

Doesn't the Club have a car or any personnel available these days?

Remember Adam Lakeland said he doesn’t travel 4 hours each day not to compete at the top end of the table. So have keep the faith we will be up there challenging

Not really sure why he would mention that.

Many people travel that distance for work everyday. Its not exactly a unique situation.  :dontknow:

General Discussion / Blyth Spartans now owned by its Supporters.
« on: November 04, 2024, 02:24:16 PM »
From the FSA:

"We were delighted to welcome Blyth Spartans into our family of community-owned clubs this week, following the formation of its Community Interest Company (CIC).

Spartans move into community ownership with immediate effect, ending a period of uncertainty under previous owner Irfan Liaquat which led to home games being postponed following the resignation of key club officials and volunteers.

Kevin Miles, chief executive of the Football Supporters’ Association, said: "Community ownership of a football club through a CIC, with the involvement of fans and the local community, is the best guarantee of a permanent future for a club.

"I am delighted a new era of community and supporter ownership of the club has begun."

Seems like the long throw into the box is making sone thing of a comeback.  Rory Delap use to gain Stoke a good few goals with his under Pulis.  As a kid I remember the Chelsea No 10 Ian Hutchinson use to launch them into the box with his ‘windmill’ action.

Danny Beaumont was always capable of doing that. I always wondered why it was never utilised when he was in a Lynn shirt.

Great to see that Margetts had some match time today albeit briefly. I hope it's a step forwards for him as we want him to recover sooner rather than later.

I wasn't expecting anything from today's match, so I'm not disappointed with the result.

Just out of interest, who got the OG ?

Jones.

Peppercorn rent ?

That's one thing and surely must be measured in the 10's of thousands. Money that other clubs don't have the benefit of , and offsets any additional money we may have to pay to tempt players to sign.
