General Discussion / Re: Opening game of the season.« on: August 05, 2024, 05:30:58 PM »
You didn't answer my question.
Nobody passed anything on. Where did you get that from, or does it just fit your agenda to suggest that? ![]() You're not only barking up the wrong tree, you in the wrong forest on that one! Surely if you were that worried about the "spirit of co-operation" you wouldn't have posted it in the first place. I didn't say I was worried about it! Why should I be? I really don't understand your logic on this one. What's wrong about speculating with regards to players coming in (or not)? What's posting about players coming in got to do with Spirit of co-operation"? Being asked to remove something from the forum happens quite a bit, and for all sorts of reasons. Nothing strange in that. We co-operate where and when we can and think fit. With everyone and his dog having social media accounts these days, Club statements, Club forums, Facebook etc etc etc its really not that difficult to get an idea whats going on and who's moving. Knowing the kind of player a Club is looking for (as AL has stated on this one), and if you add in to the fact that most Managers have very few real contacts in the game and usually visit clubs for players where they have been previously (i.e. Managing, playing, signing previous players etc), and you can get an idea. It's can be time consuming, but I've got plenty of that, but it's not exactly rocket science. Also, people at all Clubs usually like to show others how "important" they are, and they tend to do that by dropping hints. You know how that goes........"don't say I said this but........". Then of course the first thing the recipient of such information does is get in touch with a friend and says "..........don't say I said this but.......". Irrespective of you personally liking it or not, there's nothing wrong with it and its all part and parcel of supporting/following a Club. Prior to the internet, it used to be called "terrace talk". 393

General Discussion / Re: Kobe Chong« on: August 02, 2024, 07:22:41 PM »Just shows AL is not perfect and he does get it wrong sometimes. Are you sure it was an AL signing? With another player expected in on Monday, it could be a case of balancing the books. i.e. One in one out. 397
General Discussion / Re: DAZN National League New TV and streaming deal« on: August 02, 2024, 03:19:08 PM »https://www.dazn.com/en-US/news/soccer/dazn-announces-exclusive-global-rights-to-english-footballs-national-league/g4gmngg8kmgc1003xthqp1lm5 First thoughts are that it will work better and be more profitable for the bigger clubs as % split between NL and NLN/NLS seems to be geared that way. Having said that, with Lynn being ahead of the game with their global aspirations and a Global Commercial person presumably now on board, it could be a real money spinner if handled correctly and a proactive rather than reactive approach is taken. 398
General Discussion / Re: Thank you Mr Cleeve« on: August 02, 2024, 12:17:22 PM »Maybe the message is getting through. SC seems to have kept a low profile throughout the summer. Allowing AL to step up to the plate as the face of the Club. Seems like people are buying into his straight forward non BS talking. Yes, it does seem a tad quiet on that front. I think its about 4 months since we last had a Podcast. Hopefully everything is ok with him as he did elude to an incident regarding his health while in an airport a few weeks back. It could all be a plan, with AL being the voice of the club in future, with regards to the Media. As you say Mallard, we'll get a better idea in the first EDP article of the season. 399

Pink, unfortunately I don't think you would experience that even if you attended the games. 400

Limited intelligence? Are these one and the same as "the buffoons" once mentioned in a match day program? 402

General Discussion / Re: AL and his Club improvements.« on: July 29, 2024, 10:25:15 AM »
Yes, good luck to AL and his Squad. Certainly seems to be a more positive vibe around what he's involved with, which is nice to hear and see.
Regarding the pitch, does anyone know whats been done other than the usual efforts put in at this time of the season (seeding, feeding and weeding)? |
