General Discussion / Re: DCMS

I was shown a letter dated 15th July from the DCMS on Friday,  which stated
"We have concluded that we do not hold information... for any recent communication from Lynn FC and/or TSI to DCMS related to the restructuring of debt, which we have interpreted as requests within the last year for changes to the terms of the Sports Survival Package (SSP) loan, that would affect the repayment schedule."
So I guess when Trust members are told "TSI is actively pursuing a loan re-profiling with DCMS to ease near-term repayment pressures," this is very recent.

DCMS is probably incorrect or very economic/pedantic with information/replies, but this needs confirming one way or another before the vote is finalised. Even if there is only the slightest chance of the DCMS information being correct, it's such an important point that clarification is required.

A Government Body. Believe me, mistakes have been known to be made.

Can't see it being correct myself but yes, an important point but one that can be very easily verified.

Needs sorting asap.

How about Fletcher Toll ?  Seems to have not had a lot of headlines thus far.   Maybe still playing catch up to full time training etc ?

Could be the reason.

I seem to remember it being said that Fletcher was a Bal signing, and not one of JR's. Hopefully that doesn't have anything to do with the little game time he's had so far.   :dontknow:

Let's hope the media team gets behind the opening day.  It's not so long back they were firmly in the Cleeve camp and weren't really receptive to the incoming Jo ( and sidekick Bal).  So let's hope they really top it up over the next 3 weeks.

Not just the Media team who were like that. There's some who think of themselves as some sort of Super Supporters and go whichever way the wind blows. Usually far too busy criticising others and their opinions. Very sad, but I suppose if that's what their lives are all about and they have nothing else in this world, that's the way it is!   :dontknow:

It seems to me that whatever the thread starts off discussing it gets hijacked by the same people to the subject they want to continually harp on about. Totally agree if you want to keep banging on about the new ownership or the trust then start a new thread. Its becoming boring and if you started the thread with ownership or trust a lot of people wouldnt bother to read the same misinformation .

Excellent post. Hard for some to talk about on the pitch, as they don't/won't go to games so have to keep posting the same old.......

And of course there's some that only come on here to  :stir:

:thanks:

O dear!

Or maybe try not telling people what they should do?  :dontknow:

It's obviously the way people that use the forum want it, or they wouldn't use it in this manner.

One for you. How would acceptance of this deal help the Trust achieve their objectives?

Still awaiting a reply on this one?

:welcome: Why can't people use the correct heading to discuss KL and Trust status. This started about a new signing , no further details about him after going through the various inputs find it exasperating that the old discussion come up again and no more info relevant to the heading.
I understand the dilemma being played out between the club and the trust but can't it come under an appropriate heading

465. Fully understand your comments, and a subject that has been mentioned before.

The simple answer is that posts evolve, just the same as conversations do on the Terraces or elsewhere in life.

If you were chatting to your mate at the ground at the start of a game, the chances are the subject would have changed/evolved by the end of the game. It would be a fairly mind numbing conversation if it didn't.

Personally I can't see anything wrong with it but as I said, I fully understand your comments on the matter.

I don't see that the % offered or the money required for that % is that interesting for either party.   Hardly earth shattering is it.  Doesn't really do much for either party.

I don't understand this continuing attempt to get this DCMS loan written off. I presume Bal has given it his best shot and  been rejected so what makes him think a fresh approach will be differently received.  Maybe he's going to threaten tariffs 😂

Maybe he should offer free membership to a dating app!

I was expecting another open meeting where not only the pros and cons could be discussed, but also what action the Trust and TSI would take should the majority not accept the proposal.

I don't think the Club will be bothered if the deal is rejected.

In reality, I believe the takeover deal will go ahead with or without the Trust.

To the Club, I doubt very much that it's a deal breaker.

B and G have you ever read the Trusts objectives on the home page seems to me they are doing there best to achieve them. What would you expect them to do in the current situation and when would you like them to be involved in the Club as easy to say you would like this to be achieved but no suggestions as to how.

Where did I say the Trust are not trying their best to achieve their objectives? I'm sure they are. That doesn't mean they have to accept this deal. It's not them offering this deal. It's TSI. The Trust committee are just putting it to their members (without recommending acceptance).

Obviously I'd like the supporters to be involved as soon as they can so they can make a meaningful and worthwhile contribution. That won't happen with this deal. My opinion is that Bal is treating the Trust as nothing more than a Supporters Club.

One for you. How would acceptance of this deal help the Trust achieve their objectives?

I am just totally confused by what is going and which way the club is heading.
I can see that the club needs to be competitive this season but I'm not certain where it is meant to be heading longer term.
We hear all the talk about it being a community club and community involvement but not really sure what Jo's ambition is.
Is it to set up a self sustaining club which he can walk away from in 2-3 years?
If so then I would have thought promotion this season would be bad news with the additional costs it would bring.
I believe Bal is an interim CEO - so assume that somehow, magically and new CEO will appear from the community, what if it doesn't?

Most of the fan/community owned clubs, except Exeter City, Newport County, and AFC Wimbledon exist at our current level or below and I can't see a town of Lynn's size ever achieving more than that unless we continue with the wealthy owner model, which we have learnt from experience may not work.

I believe the Trust members have been asked to vote on the Trust's involvement with the club, with a very short deadline to make a decision, although I'm not sure why there is such urgency.
If you have a part ownership of something, then I can understand that you inherit a part of the debt. Given the state of the club, is this a good time?

Not for me. Not enough info given to accept the offer at this time.

Simply put, this is my view of things. People will make their own decisions.

I would guess that many new members will vote yes as  the majority of them will only be interested in seeing the Club getting the Trust's money. Presumably enough time has now been allowed to elapse so that these new members are all eligible to vote. You can work that one out yourselves.

For those that believe that The Trust should be involved with a meaningful and workable share of the Club, I guess most will see that this deal doesn't cover that, so will probably vote no.

Its notable that the Trust Committee haven't (as far as I can see) recommended acceptance of this deal to its members, so purely as a guess, I would assume they are not particularly pleased with the deal themselves.

Remember that things could still go Pear shaped at anytime as we will yet again be at the mercy of one person and his finances (and this proposed deal has been offered by an Employee of TSI, not the Owner). If the Trust money goes to the Club now, love it or loathe it, the Trust will almost certainly not be in a position to throw the Club a lifeline if anything adverse should happen. Once the money has gone, its gone. We are being asked to put faith in a model that has continually failed. The Club has already said that it intends to put more money in to make the team competitive. All sounds very nice but surely that just means that yet again, the Club will be spending beyond its means. Jo is not "giving" this money to the Club, it will be going in as loan money therefore increasing the debt. HE WILL WANT IT BACK!

Apparently Bal has also asked that the DCMS loan be decreased. If that's the case, he is basically asking you the taxpayer to foot the bill for the Clubs excess's. Its worth remembering that the debt got bigger due to what some would see as recklessness as it was Jo that enabled the Chairman to spend so much money. Lots of, if not the majority of the debt happened on Jo's watch, and when he was involved! So this does appear to be rather ironic.

As I said, IF TSI and Bal got their way on this, its you the taxpayer that are being asked to pay for any reduction in the DCMS loan (although I can't see that happening myself), and I can't really see how a Community organisation such as the Trust can back this deal when this kind of thinking is employed by TSI and its Employed Representative. You can't be Community based and Community minded if you are expecting others to pick up the mess caused by your own Company (irrespective who was in charge at the time). Its the Club's debt, and the Club should pay it back. That's simple common sense in my book. Even if/when DCMS say no, TSI have set their Stall out now. We now know what they are about and their thinking, and that kind of thinking is not for me.

If I have any of the above facts wrong I apologise, but with the lack of information put forward when we were asked to vote, I believe these to be valid points that need to be raised.

I'd love to see Supporters involved at their Club. I don't believe now is the time, the deal is the correct deal, or that we know enough about TSI's plans to make them acceptable at this moment in time, or that TSI are the kind of Company that the Trust should be in business with without a lot more information being provided to its members.

I think that's 14 new players in and 8 retaining that's a squad of 22 I believe that will be it for the time being but you never know

Yes Malcolm. They certainly seems to be flashing the cash about, on the field and off. I thought the intention was to press the reset button.   :dontknow: Doesn't look that has happened so far. In fact quite the opposite.

On the Pitch, Jo is apparently prepared to support the playing budget to ensure the team is competitive (that sounds worryingly like the Cleeve Philosophy).

Off the pitch, Marriott's Warehouse and Mem's Kitchen treat for the squad and the Hangers on won't have come cheap!

Why they needed that I don't know, especially as they now have a full time Chef for the players. Two meals a day. Good work if you can get it!

The income from the big Commercial deals won't last long at this rate. Has anyone told Bal about the cold Tuesday winters nights and what can happen to the gate numbers (although in fairness, Jo did witness that personally  :laughcry:)?

Or what if we get a bad winter (been lucky on that one in recent years)? Stash it away. Don't be tempted to spend it as soon as it comes in.

That's unless Bal has located and unlocked the £1 admission fee that was "ring fenced" by The Chairman (from memory, in an attempt to justify an increase to admission prices). Any report on that one Bal, or was the money paid by the supporters collected under false pretenses? Must be a few Grand there now!

Bal has access to the inner workings now. Maybe he'll let his stakeholders know exactly whats been going on.  :dontknow:

And, just who was the anonymous Stand Sponsor?

Cheer up!!!

I'm fine thanks. Hope you are too.

Nice to see that you are so happy these days. Being one of the Founders of the Blue and Gold Supporters Trust, you must be over the moon with all the current developments.

By the way, no reply about the £1 surcharge (i.e. Supporters money).

Have a word will ya?

I sincerely hope Cleeve keeps all his advice and opinions to himself. In fact I'd rather he said nothing to anyone.

We'll be able to tell how much clout he still has when we hear the music played as the team comes out 😖

It would be nice to see a change in the music.

Topical at the moment, how about Ozzy's "Paranoid"?
