General Discussion / Re: FA Cup« on: September 09, 2019, 08:13:28 PM »Now I am really confused B and G ...and intrigued....can you expand Mall ? KES, as I said, I'm not sure if I'm reading Mallards post correctly or not. I suspect he has "tunnel vision". 918
General Discussion / Re: FA Cup« on: September 09, 2019, 07:16:14 PM »Well I thought that was bloody daft at the time...squad numbers are squad numbers... Marriott is 10 so how can Hendo and another effectively wear the same number....I assume that's what you are referring to Mall... that's just a really poor error. Not sure, but I don't think he's referring to a Lynn no. 10. 919

Three more potential sponsors then, although I can't see "No more smells Ltd" on a Linnets shirt. ![]() 920

General Discussion / Re: Link with Gibraltar« on: September 06, 2019, 09:33:33 AM »With the demise of Bury last night wouldnt the FA's time be better spent looking at the financial situation of the clubs , and football in general, outside the honeypot of the Premier League rather than worrying about the size of dugouts, changing area's etc. I fear that Bury and Bolton are just the tip of the iceberg and many more may follow. One suggestion , not mine, to help staff and players at both clubs is to play their "scheduled" league match at say Old Trafford and supporters of ALL football attend with all the proceeds going to those hurt financially through no fault of their own! Would be an opportunity to see if the "big" boys really care Parliament to launch inquiry into football finances following Bury's demise Announcing a series of hearings that will be heard this autumn, Damian Collins, the chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, also backed calls to give Bury the chance to resume in League Two from next season. Select committees have the formal power to call for relevant “papers and records”, as well as key witnesses, such as the decision-makers from clubs, as well as the football authorities, and has parliamentary privilege, meaning evidence that has been accepted by the committee cannot be questioned in court. Collins yesterday said the expulsion of Bury was “a tragedy” for fans and the wider community which “marks a failure of football governance”. He also said that the football authorities now need greater powers to intervene when clubs get into financial trouble. “The current owners and directors' test is clearly not sufficient to protect the long-term interests of clubs and keep bad owners and directors out of the game,” he said. “The issues that have affected Bury reflect a wider and growing problem within the Football League. We have seen similar crises with other clubs in recent years. The committee will also inquire into what needs to be done to strengthen football governance rules in this regard." James Frith, the MP for Bury North, yesterday asked Collins to host the sessions in Bury and wants fans to be among those who give evidence. Bury's expulsion currently means that only three clubs will be relegated from League One this season and just one, instead of two, will go down from League Two. However, the EFL is consulting with other member clubs about the possibility of Bury resuming in League Two if there is clear evidence of its future financial viability. The EFL yesterday also announced a review of its regulations and procedures concerning the financial sustainability of its clubs, which will consider the lessons from Bury and seek to identify changes that help to ensure similar problems are not repeated. The review, which will be led by Jonathan Taylor QC, who is also leading a separate review of EFL governance, will examine the background to Bury's insolvency and also the EFL's existing rules, notably the owners and directors' test. A series of recommendations will then follow that could come into affect next year. The EFL has also pledged to co-operate fully with any police or other regulatory investigation into Bury's demise. 922

You don't need Sniffer dogs...................I can smell a hot sausage roll from a mile away! ![]() 924

General Discussion / Re: Post Darlington« on: September 02, 2019, 10:15:51 AM »B & G, if he isn’t wanted at Boston, is he good enough for us, at our current standard ? And considering we have Kelly, plus Payne and Carey..... Apparently, being "good enough" is not the issue at Boston. Don't worry about it. It was just an observation. 926

Sounds as if George Green could be finished at Boston.
23 year old attacking midfielder. Could he be one worth considering? 927
General Discussion / Re: Darlington« on: September 01, 2019, 12:07:17 PM »To answer a few points raised here on the segregation issues. I don't think Mark was referring to yesterday, but future arrangements when new turnstyles are fitted. Anyone know when that will be? Have they arrived yet? 928
General Discussion / Re: Post Darlington« on: September 01, 2019, 11:54:32 AM »Was it a last minute decision to rest Marriot as I don't think the team sheet appeared until about ten minutes after kick off? Yes, I noticed that too. ![]() 929
General Discussion / Re: Darlington« on: August 30, 2019, 10:43:02 PM »Good answers. I recall a nice free kick from Dale Anderson that he bent into the top corner. Not sure he did much else in a Lynn shirt though. The player I was thinking of was Les McJanet. Anyone remember him and whether he played for both teams? He played for Lynn 82-84 and Darlington 88-92. Also had a spell at Boston. 930
