For those saying the club has not announced this please refer to page 3 of the YLP. Even Sir Henry Bellingham knows!!

How times change. Not many years ago a lot of our the regular posters on here were saying how we could not compete with St Neots as they had a marvellous pitch, ground and one ot the best managers in the country at this level. While I cannot say we are a well run club, we have one of the best pitches and managers at this level and higher and St Neots are on slippery slope down the leagues. How times change.

I  did not think they would accept the job for reasons I stated in another thread. Now they have accepted the posts I am fully behind the chairman's decision and wish them all the best. They are local men who have served the club well in the past. There seems be a lot of support from the fans, I hope this continues when the odd bad result comes along. Lets hope we get a good crowd on Saturday to show our support to Neil and Rob. Come on you Linnets.

Tony hinted that both have stepped down from much less demanding positions than this. I believe Neil is quite happy with the U18's as the call on his time was too much when 1st team coach and as he wanted more time with his family. Backie has a very time consuming job and has stood down from the reserves managers job as he was struggling to cope with both jobs and family, he also had problems with his health. Both have found jobs within the club that they are happy with and are only helping the club out at the moment. I presume they will be with the 1st team on Saturday, lets hope they and the team have another great result. We will probably see a new manager some time next week.

I am only quoting what he said, that he does not have time to run both properly.

Tony the loaning the club £500K is the most worrying part, what happens if he recalls his loan? I am sure if he has done/will do the £500K loan he will have it will have it legally sorted. However has he really spent all that money? This is the most worrying problem for me. If he does sell the George the club will only see a small portion of that as a loan.

That was a comment by the EDP reporter not SC. If you took the words HE spoke

ďA lot of clubs are mismanaged, but I am working 50 or 60 hours a week on the football club and I am in the situation I am probably going to sell the George Hotel because I canít do both,Ē he said.

ďI canít run the George Hotel and this club. If the club is going to be a success we have got to start moving up through the leagues.

Nothing about the money there.

I think you are all missing the point. What SC was mainly talking about was he did not have the time to run The George and the Linnets so he was selling the George so he could spend all his TIME running the Linnets. While he may sell the George for a lot of money nowhere did he say he was spending this on the club. I seem to remember that last seasons spend was in the form of a loan, which is a little worrying. However how do we know wether he has got other money coming in or not.

What a load of rubbish. What does the age matter? An 18 year was MOM of the world cup final, an England player was 20. If the best players at U23 has not progressed to the first team they probably wont make the grade, hence ran make it. Young players from the clubs involved will give our players a good test. You need to stop all the S**T Gris, if you would rather watch Wisbech that is up to you. I do not know wether you ever want to watch the Linnets again you are cutting your chances by only looking for the negatives all the time.

I spoke to one of our long term stewards who told me they have to do a stewarding course, which includes a certificate, before next season. Could be a reason why they are leaving. With the complaints I have heard, or seen on here, could be a good idea.

Sorry Watford but Heggs got rid of Jack Defty who had numerous offers at a higher level.

General Discussion / Re: THE PITCH
« on: April 24, 2018, 02:16:49 PM »
A 3G pitch was looked at by Buster and Setch and they visited Sudbury to get further info on their set up. The quotes received were in excess of £500k with annual running costs and a relatively short life. Buster thought it was unaffordable and he would not be able to raise that amount. I cannot see anyone, including the council and the new owner, being prepared to gamble that amount of money. The reserves play at Sudbury and the pitch is great, and is in constant use, but  mainly by Sudbury who run teams from under 8 upwards. Mr Cleeve seems to want to progress up the leagues, which although fanciful, and a 3G pitch is not allowed above the Conference,

General Discussion / Re: Reserves and promotion ?
« on: October 16, 2017, 02:56:10 PM »
Quite correct Mallard. Before the reserves became part of the club after they had finished 5th, as they did last season. we investigated this fully. not only would the reserves have to change their name they would also have to have their own accounts and have a written agreement to rent the ground from King's Lynn town FC. Worse still we would be thrown out of the division we are in now and have to move to a much lower league. For people who can remember the reformed club starting in the UCL with the reserves in the UCL Reserve league Div 2. That is the level we would have to start at. We thought this was a Thurlow Nunn league idea and investigated the FA rules and they do not want any reserve teams at level 6, so we could never get promotion back to where we are now. Level 6 has proved to be a good place for youngsters to make the jump to the reserves. After four promotions, as champions, we were given the place where we are and after two 5th places we look as though we may well finish higher with Backie and the boys this season.
