General Discussion / RESERVES ATTENDANCE
« on: February 13, 2016, 10:52:52 PM »
Many thanks to all who came and supported the Reserves today, our biggest crowd of the season, so far, I hope you all enjoyed the game. Amazing to find out later we had 28 more than watched the 1st team at Dunstable. Our next two home games are on Tuesday 23 Feb against Downham Town and on Tuesday 1 Mar in the Norfolk Senior Cup Semi Final against Dereham. We hope we will be able to beat the 167 for both those games.

General Discussion / Ryan Fryatt 200 appearances
« on: January 25, 2016, 08:26:16 AM »
While there has been much justified praise for Matty Castellan and his performances since joining the club I think another young local player deserves mention at this time. I have just looked at the appearance stats and Ryan Fryatt will make his 200th appearance in the next game, assuming he is selected. Only a year or so older than Matty this is a fantastic achievement for a 22 year old. Also significantly he has been captain for the last few games when the performances have improved, well done Ryan.

General Discussion / ST NEOTS or KING'S LYNN
« on: December 15, 2015, 02:49:15 PM »
Pre-season and early season many 'Supporters' were predicting that because St Neots had a great manager, were signing great players on great wages, with a much bigger budget and a much better ground they would wipe the floor with King's Lynn as we would not be able to compete. What do these 'Supporters' think now? I much prefer the way Setch has gone about putting the club together with so many local players and obviously on a much smaller budget. No panic loan deals just bring a couple in from the reserves. Although they have not played for a few weeks the U18's have already proved themselves, with several getting games for the reserves, some regularly, and one now in the 1st team squad. Exciting times. Backies Blog

As we are nearly at the half way point of the season i thought i would update you all with my second blog. We have currently played 16 league games in the Thurlow Nunn Division one league, winning nine, drawing two and losing five, we are still in the quarter finals of the Norfolk senior cup and League challenge cup. Unfortunately we went out of the Division one cup against Stowmarket losing 1-0, myself and Marc this game felt like a victory for us as we fielded at least nine youth team players, and we dominated long periods of the game and we was very unlucky not to come away from the game with something, the club has a very bright future with all these lads coming through its exciting times.

The youth team which was only put together by Ross Mcneil and John Stocker in a few weeks shows how far some of these lads have improved in such a short space of time, both Ross and John deserve a lot of credit for this. Four or five of these lads have pushed themselves forward to be in my squad on a regular basis and Dylan Edge has been a regular in the 1st team squad, i was very proud to see Dylan sign his contract for the club and get his first goal for the senior side, and he will hopefully score many goals for the club in the future.

The spirit around the club as a whole at the moment is very good, the young players can see if they apply themselves in the correct way and work very hard that Gary and Neil will give them a chance with the senior side if they are good enough, the young lads only need to look at Simon Bird, Liam Fryatt, Jack Frohawk, Dylan Edge and Tom Mcleish as examples of this. The target for this season hasn’t changed its all about development of the local talent we have at the football and push these players as far as they want to go, of course i want to finish in the top half of the table and have a good run in the cups myself and Marc will always have that winning mentality and that won’t change but the develpoment will always come first.
i know Gary has been invloved with the Kings Lynn in the Community and improving links in the community in general, i have also been down to watch a couple college games and had a several conversations with Dan Buhlemann and Kings Lynn legend Keith Rudd about player development and local talent.
I have continued to work very closely with Gary off the field and the club has many exciting things in the pipeline for the future and i believe as whole we are closer to the supporters than we have been in the past.
I would like to thank the supporters who have followed us so far, some of the home games have been fantastic and the lads really appreciate this, i think we have had over hundred supporters every home game so far.
Before i finish my blog i would just like to thank the Reserve committee and Double G, without these people we wouldn’t function and the help they give myself and Marc is fantastic.
Its still a great honour for me to be manager of reserves and will continue to try my very best for the football club.
Hope Everyone has a fantastic Christmas and New Year

General Discussion / TEAM FOR TONIGHT v DOWNHAM
« on: November 24, 2015, 11:54:01 AM »
Hopefully a forward line of Frohawk, Edge and Hilliard should increase the crowd tonight. Also Birdy will be playing, not sure on the rest of the team. We should see some exciting football combined with the Reserves full on commitment to the cause. Exciting times.

General Discussion / 300 and counting
« on: October 29, 2015, 02:07:06 PM »
Congratulations to Setch hope we have a great win on Saturday to celebrate.

It will be Gary Setchell’s 300th game as manager of Kings Lynn Town  when he takes charge of the team at Belper Town on Saturday, the team has come along way since Setch first took charge when the team was reformed and playing in the United Counties Premier Division. Speaking to Setch last night he recalls the game against Sheffield which clinched the league title as one of his highlights as Lynn Manager.

Injuries are still a concern for Lynn with the same players likely to miss the trophy game, Simon Bird and Liam Fryatt look likely to keep there places in the team after impressing against Biggleswade
Belper Town, known as The Nailers, were relegated having finished bottom of the Premier Division last season and are currently 18th in the Division One South having won four of their fourteen league games. King’s Lynn last game at Belper was a 3-3 draw with Bell, Bridges and Thomson getting the goals. Lynn will be hoping for a win as the winners will receive £2700 prize money.
