General Discussion / Re: RESERVES V HALSTEAD TOWN SATURDAY 3 P.M KICK OFF
« on: October 29, 2015, 10:38:45 AM »
Unfortunately its not my decision, a full announcement will be made sometime today, hopefully, both here and the club website so we will know for definite then. Hopefully if enough people support it we can continue in the future.  Lots of changes are being made on and off the pitch so people have to be patient it can't all be done  at once.

I have to agree Marcus, Setch is in sole charge of the club on a day to day basis, within a budget set by Buster. Buster is playing no part in the daily running of the club and the only thing he should receive any kudos for is putting the new set up in place.
As I keep saying we now have a club run by 'local' football people with a great majority of the players being 'local' and we are starting to see the benefits both on and off the pitch. One benefit was seen last night but people need to be patient.

Setch is definitely running the show with the budget he was given and I don't know if he gets the money he raises or if any goes to Buster. However it is Buster who has encouraged the use of local players. THe introduction of the U18's and the link between the team managers and coaches has given the best of the youngsters much more of a chance to progress, within the club, and the team that played last night is proof of that progress and long may it continue.

Is 'the squad' looking stronger after this performance? Is Lee Stevenson back to full fitness? Great performance by the lads.

I just wonder what the doubters have got to say now, 'youngsters to blame for a loss', 'one good performance a month', 'senior players must start stepping up', what a fantastic performance by all the young lads and of course Lee Stevenson for another great performance.

Did you mean that last sentence 'the youngsters should be used as the scapegoat'? That can't be right.

That's fair Rod, but the injuries don't help especially when Gaughran and Miller have played with, as Setch puts it niggles. How many teams are 'consistent' at any level and also get that bit of luck that is required in many games? As I said one good game a month is ridiculous.

Losing your three of the defence, including the captain it is not surprising that the performance was below par especially against a very good side. Also one good performance a month is a ridiculous statement.

I think SEtch is doing the right thing some of the reserves have proved themselves at first team level this season. Replacing Gaughran and Miller in particular will be a very difficult task but the lads will step up I am sure.

I am sure we will have a full bench with reserve players stepping up and one or two in the starting line up. As I see it Setch is doing right and not trying to get  some loans in for the short term. He may have some money in the kitty to get one or two in but if they are quality it will be difficult at this stage of the season.

We will see regarding Toby and Dylan. Who says we have not got the money? What club is going to release a regular goal scorer at this stage of the season? Who is Buster? I think Setch is running the club within a seasonal budget but I assume all monies raised by the efforts he is putting in will be his to spend. I believe his policy of going for local young talent is starting to pay dividends and hopefully drawing more support.

Of course I agree with Setch and giving Dylan 25 to 30 minutes will give him ample time to be in the right position. I have seen all his performances for the reserves and he only needs a chance or two and he scores and his contributions for the reserves have won us games. In the U18's he has now notched 23 goals the next best in all 6 divisions is 11. He is also very ambitious and playing at a much higher level is his target. I also think the way the team is now playing, and Stevenson's contribution I think once Hilliard notches a couple he may well be our 15 to 20 goal man.

Dylan proved last night he has the ability to be in the right place at the right time, he stunned Setch and those who have seen him regularly that he missed a sitter and another chance. I am sure he will spend most of his time with the 1st team as he has proved that at level 3 he is well capable of scoring goals.
