General Discussion / Re: Tennyson car park

These Covenants are not as difficult to get removed as they used to be.

If it made the Council a few Bob, and released the Council from their responsibility towards the  Walks Stadium, my money would be on it being possible to do.

Only runs to 2024 according to a story on the Trust News pages. Would be a massive loss IMHO and any move would have to be sustainable, we don't want a Nene Park situation on our hands. Town centre grounds should be embraced but maybe I'm just a legacy fan!

From Mr Cleeve's weekly column in last Saturday's EDP:

"we have decided to freeze all prices other than add £1 to the price of adults and concessions tickets on a match day. This £1 is a donation that will be ring-fenced and will go towards repaying the debt incurred this season in government loans."

Interesting that Mr Cleeve is concerned about being behind with the design for next season's kit.

My first thought was, is this really a priority right now, in the current situation?

On reflection though maybe a (hopefully) packed Walks in August equals lots of footfall through the club shop and an important revenue stream, so maybe the design is important!

Loan expired and returned to Hull around the time McFadden joined us.

Well, well..........

It seems to me that IC generally has little interest in the cup competitions.

Removed from FA competitions by lower league oppo 3 times in 3 seasons (we were already out by the time IC returned in 2018); Mildenhall, Nantwich and now Hornchurch.

Great result for SC yesterday.  Be another Port for him to add to his collection 😂

 :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Results such as yesterdays don't come along that often.

3 times in 140 years (admin? Richard?)

Aldershot, Coventry City and now Port Vale

Lets play our strongest team. If we weaken it in any way and we get stuffed it not good for the moral of the team. Its games like this when this lock down really hurts, I'm one of the old school, went to Everton with my Dad, lost 4-0,  went to Southend, lost 9-0, Bristol Rovers, lost 2-1, Rotherham, lost 6-0,  but what great days. We would have taken hundreds to Port Vale.    Come on Lynn, cheer us all up!

YouTube clip of that Bristol Rovers game.

The last time we scored a goal against a Football League side, 36 years ago. Let's hope that changes tomorrow.

As Bluboy says on a separate post, mixed emotions. Thoughts go out to the Notts County players and their fans. Not how we'd want to progress to the competition proper. We were removed from the 4th qualifying round 25 years ago without playing a game so maybe we were due a bit of luck!?!

Same thing happened when Danny Gay came here. Glad he left, possibly under a cloud, as he was supposedly a bad influence in the Changing Room.
I thought that was Trevor Saunders. Perhaps it was both of them  :dontknow:

Trevor Saunders. That's going back a few years Nemesis, Alan Day was the manager I think?

General Discussion / Re: Fundraising idea

A fund raising, season previewing programme commemorating our first ever game at this level sounds like a great idea. But as others have said, at that price it's all about the content. Seeking market research less than a week before the game suggests this content is not yet in place?

General Discussion / Re: Hendo
« on: September 27, 2020, 07:01:19 PM »
I had the pleasure to see Hendo make his debut for KLTFC in a midweek game for the then RESERVES.
He was head and shoulders the best player on the park despite knowing nobody, you would never have guessed that he had not been their  long prior to that game.
Hendo you will be sadly missed and clearly Gorlestons gain. I can imagine your weekly mileage will drop by several hundreds of miles.
The most important thing is to enjoy your game and hopefully the new circumstances will allow that to happen.
All the best.

What reserve game was that Chilvers? I thought his debut was in a Southern League cup game v Peterborough Sports during Back and Fryatt's tenure. He looked a class above from memory.

if the under 21s can still have supporters surely it would pay to have them back at the walks.

Absolutely! and if we're having to pay first teamers to not play for the first team, get some of them to turn out as well!

When Lynn went pop under Ken  Bobbins we were given a two level drop in standard on reforming.   Step 3 to Step 5.  The season before to had dropped from step 2 to step 3 because of ground grading.  Thatís what my memory of what happened.

Pretty much as I remember it Mallard. Only to add that the leagues weren't obliged to accept us at step 5. Eastern Counties was Lynn's preference as I recall but they indicated they wanted us to start in their first division (step 6), hence we (re)started in the UCL.

Thanks Admin, I'm a big fan of the 'On This Day' feature. Perhaps during the prolonged period of inactivity you could post the daily link on the forum? With no current football to talk about it might prompt some memories for those nostalgia-heads amongst us!

General Discussion / Re: CLUB STATEMENT + NEW JustGiving Donation Page
« on: March 26, 2020, 08:22:37 PM »
Another way to help in a small way would be to take up an idea that they are using at Boston to raise money for things at the new ground. They have a jam jar collection, people fill a jam jar with their change and when it is full it goes into the club to be counted and banked. I know it won't cure the problem but it may be  a way of contributing if you cannot donate online? :dontknow:

That would be the same jam jar collection you openly mocked on the Boston forum? Unbelievable!
