On the subject of the reserves, none of their home attendances for the season so far are recorded on this website. Any reason for this?

So now with a blank Saturday on the 30th following the FA cup exit, we get to travel to Kempston in the League cup.

League Cup ties on a Saturday?

Reserves also have a game that day so could be the strongest looking starting XI we've fielded for a league cup tie for many a season.

Not so long since they were a NWN side. Quite a journey from NWN, through the many Ang Comb divs to the premier,  regular NSC games against Rigeons clubs and at one stage during Backie's tenure, even the brief prospect of promotion themselves?

For many years West Norfolk had no teams in the Ang Com, now presumably Redgate and Heacham were also competing with Dersingham? Possible parallels with Dereham, Norwich United and Wroxham in the Isthmian?

It does sounds as though it could alook be a generational thing with some youngsters now preffering to get their football fix on the 3G in the evening rather than investing a big part of their Saturday in travelling around the county for a game.

Bishop Stortford were Conference South when we met them.

Of course! Would settle for a repeat performance tomorrow  :scarf:

Admin / Richard, when was the last time we won a cup tie away at a Conference side? Chance for a bit of history making tomorrow? Would still settle for a replay mind!

Bastock still going strong at 47, a true legend. Clearly still seeking closure from conceding THAT goal, all those years ago   :sinking:

Back in the 80s entrance to the main stand was via a central turnstile and up a staircase which would bring you out opposite half way line. Signs then directed home fans  to seating on the left and away fans to the right. As gates were around the 300 mark the right hand section of the stand was always practically empty.

Board gone up outside the ground this week says Wednesday 12th. Also omits the 'XI' after 'Norwich City'

TDA, that's brilliant - I had forgotten all about the Gidman 'citrus missile' incident   :laughcry:

I think you could fill a chapter with Gidman / Dollimore, despite JG being at the club for less than a season. I think Dollimore had run quite a public recruitment campaign and whittled it down to Gidman and ex-Villa player Brendan Ormsby. Was Ormsby offered the job first and turned it down?

One disaster after another, culminating in that Vase defeat at Diss (with recently sacked Lynn boss John Musgrove in the Diss dugout (assisting Bill Punton) and exacting revenge). As Mallard suggests I think it was an acrimonious fallout between Gidman and Dollimore.

Front page suggests first time we will have played Ipswich since 1980. What about the testimonial for the late, great Chris Watts? Pretty sure we also played them pre season in Peter Morris' first spell?

Wisbech were our perennial Culey opponents but I'm sure we took Diss on 1 season

Fantastic servant, did he reach the 300 game mark in the end? Still, this squad has been at step 3 for 4 seasons now without threatening the playoffs. If the ambition (sustainable or not) is to move forward there will naturally have to be some turnover this summer.

Good luck Jordan, not so long ago an EDP journo was tipping Jordan as a player who could still make it in the football league, still a player with a lot to give.

There were rumours that the Culey Cup was ferretted away before the official receiver got his hands on it when the old club went bust, other say it was melted down.
Either way, it does not belong to King's Lynn Town FC

Well if we can't find the Culey cup what about the Norfolk Invitational Cup or perhaps our gaffer could pull some strings and we could play Norwich for the Dairy Crest cup or even persuade Wisbech to dust off the Culey Cup's Fenland cousin the Kinsella cup  :oldman"

News of former Linnets / Marcus Newell
« on: May 21, 2017, 10:39:57 PM »
Have just seen a few clips of today's Vase final, Cleethorpes well beaten by South Shields. Noticed that Cleethorpes manager is Marcus Newell. Pretty certain he played a few games for Lynn in the early 90s? Most of the squad came from the Grimsby area in those days.

A move from the Southern League would also mean missing out on a lucrative home game against Hereford
