General Discussion / Re: Hendo
« on: September 27, 2020, 07:01:19 PM »
I had the pleasure to see Hendo make his debut for KLTFC in a midweek game for the then RESERVES.
He was head and shoulders the best player on the park despite knowing nobody, you would never have guessed that he had not been their  long prior to that game.
Hendo you will be sadly missed and clearly Gorlestons gain. I can imagine your weekly mileage will drop by several hundreds of miles.
The most important thing is to enjoy your game and hopefully the new circumstances will allow that to happen.
All the best.

What reserve game was that Chilvers? I thought his debut was in a Southern League cup game v Peterborough Sports during Back and Fryatt's tenure. He looked a class above from memory.

if the under 21s can still have supporters surely it would pay to have them back at the walks.

Absolutely! and if we're having to pay first teamers to not play for the first team, get some of them to turn out as well!

When Lynn went pop under Ken  Bobbins we were given a two level drop in standard on reforming.   Step 3 to Step 5.  The season before to had dropped from step 2 to step 3 because of ground grading.  Thatís what my memory of what happened.

Pretty much as I remember it Mallard. Only to add that the leagues weren't obliged to accept us at step 5. Eastern Counties was Lynn's preference as I recall but they indicated they wanted us to start in their first division (step 6), hence we (re)started in the UCL.

Thanks Admin, I'm a big fan of the 'On This Day' feature. Perhaps during the prolonged period of inactivity you could post the daily link on the forum? With no current football to talk about it might prompt some memories for those nostalgia-heads amongst us!

Another way to help in a small way would be to take up an idea that they are using at Boston to raise money for things at the new ground. They have a jam jar collection, people fill a jam jar with their change and when it is full it goes into the club to be counted and banked. I know it won't cure the problem but it may be  a way of contributing if you cannot donate online? :dontknow:

That would be the same jam jar collection you openly mocked on the Boston forum? Unbelievable!

Hiya, has anyone got any details of possible radio commentary for Tuesday's game v Leamington  :dontknow:
Hopefully Radio Norfolk will be covering the game tonight on "The game with Phil Daley" from 7pm.

According to Radio Norfolk this morning their midweek sport programme is moving to Wednesday this week to take commentary of Norwich's FA Cup game so no Lynn commentary tonight

He was shaken and stirred  every time he tried to catch a ball over his head...brilliant shot stopper but that's as far as it went.

Chuck held (still holds?) the club record for consecutive clean sheets, during the Great Escape season.

As for internationals, what about Paul Ramsey, another from the Gary Mills era, Northern Ireland international.

Alvechurch must be just down the road from Evesham, right?

Anyone checked for a hosepipe?

Good post Mallard and one which I thought would have prompted some responses. Perhaps the lack of reply tells us all we need to know.

By my very rough calculations there are currently 101 places between first and reserve teams. This brings into question what is the function of the reserves within the KLTFC structure. Such a gap means that reserve players surely cannot step straight into the first team. The reserves no longer play at the Walks so presumably cannot be considered a revenue stream for the club.

If they have a future possibly this could be as part of a  pathway for young players which has to be bridged by loans to the likes of Dereham, Lowestoft etc en route to (hopefully) National league football?

Not sure on the relegation rules from step 6 but if the reserves drop into Ang Comb level then surely it is game over (assuming that decision has not already been taken internally)?

Anyone whose journey to the Walks crosses the Tennyson Avenue level crossing will have to find an alternative route to the Walks next Saturday.

"And engineers working on the construction of new train sidings near Lynnís station have announced that the Tennyson Avenue level crossing will be shut for two weekends next month.

The closures will take place from midnight on Saturday, February 1 until 4am on Monday, February 3, and from the same times on the weekend of February 22 to 24."

Amazing where the team is.  Credit to all.  12 months who would have dared even dream of this situation we find ourselves in.

As itís Saturday evening and before Strictly starts I thought I would ask Admin.  When was the last time Kings Lynn were top of a League deemed to be the 2nd tier of Non League Football ?

We briefly topped the Southern League in the days before Conference North / South under Tony Spearing. Ended up getting relegated!

Tenth league win of the season,as many league wins as we had in the whole of the season when we were last at this level. Good effort.

General Discussion / Re: Who was/is the better striker: Defty or Marriot ?
« on: November 09, 2019, 11:15:09 PM »
1. Marriott.  2 Defty.  3 Gash.  BUT....  We saw Adam and Jack in their prime, but Michael, maybe not.  They also played at different levels - but theyíre certainly the best 3 since Malcolm Lindsay....

 I'll throw into the mix:
Kevin Ready? Andy Hunt? Mark Paul? Jackie Gallagher?

Thanks for that Admin, great stats there. 1992/93 average gate of 301. The fans really didn't buy into the John Dollimore / John Musgrove project did they?  :scarf:
