News of former Linnets / Marcus Newell
« on: May 21, 2017, 10:39:57 PM »
Have just seen a few clips of today's Vase final, Cleethorpes well beaten by South Shields. Noticed that Cleethorpes manager is Marcus Newell. Pretty certain he played a few games for Lynn in the early 90s? Most of the squad came from the Grimsby area in those days.

A move from the Southern League would also mean missing out on a lucrative home game against Hereford

A couple of years before Andy Hunt, another local lad, Mark Howard left to play league football and ended up at Stockport. Around the same time Darren Rolph left to join Barnsley. Both of them ended up returning to Lynn later in their careers

Brothers Clem and Eddie, though I think Eddie only ever played for the reserves.

Culverhouse is currently the no2 at Dagenham.

Worthington is helping out at Fakenham behind the scenes.

It's more likely Worthington than Culverhouse

Helping out? Hopefully not advising of player eligibility  :laughcry:

Tuesday 14th March at FDC in Norwich.

We owe Norwich United for an embarrasing FA Vase defeat many years ago...

I would think it is on Radio Norfolk sports report tonight. Fancy taking on Fakenham. We owe them one for a defeat at Carrow Road a few years back.

Local Report 630 tonight.

I remember that Fakenham defeat. Think we'd had a league game the day before so fielded a number of reserves and got destroyed by Fakenham.

Excellent result and now over 500 minutes since a goal was conceded!
Safe journey home!

Excellent result that, especially for a midweek trip. Chuck Maritini's consecutive clean sheet record could be under threat!

Wow, following the relatively 'local' game at Dunstable on Saturday it's then Weymouth away on the Tuesday, Gateshead on the Saturday and then the small matter of Basingstoke away the following Tuesday:

Dorest - Tyne&Wear - Hampshire

If we get to 10 wins on the bounce after that little lot it will be nothing short of a miracle  :scarf:

The Linnets have agreed a fee with Southern Premier Division rivals St Neots Town, as the 21-year-old wants to return to Norfolk.
A fee???

A fee! We can't have paid many of those over the years? Lyndon Rowland? Shaun Keeble? Can't think of any others.

I believe we're entered as King's Lynn Town again this season rather than the reserves? Just read on front page that the NSC game at Thetford has been arranged for the day after our league game at Cambridge. Did I imagine reading / hearing early on in his tenure that winning this trophy was one of Mr Cleeve's main objectives? If so, the scheduling of this fixture suggests this may not now be the case.

Some good photos of 'Touchline Tommy's' days at Lynn there. Anyone name the other Linnets in the picture? Think the late Adie Hayes is one.

We put Conference North opposition out of the cup a couple of seasons back in the form of Hednesford, with a back four by the end of the game containing reserve teamers Shaun Stocker and Chris Ward. Will be tough on Saturday but Setch has a decent record against higher level oppo  :scarf:
