For those of us of a certain age, getting to the first round proper is still something of a holy grail. Only the 4th time we've done it in my 36 years of supporting and 1 of those was thanks to a Covid bye!

Any home draw, you have got to be pleased with that. Certainly could have been a tougher opponent, but we won't be taking our opponents lightly. I'm sure some of us can remember the likes of Parson Drove and Woodford. Woodford's keeper sent off, an outfield player took his place, his first job was to pick the ball out of the net after we scored with a deflected free kick to go 1-0 up, ended up losing. Its a clever move by Mr Cleeve to reduce the admission. Who knows, maybe Taylor will take his place on the bench too.
Mick Czuczman scored from the free kick I think, then it all went wrong. Woodford's outfield player who went in goal, from memory, played like a cross between Pat Jennings and Peter Shilton and we couldn't find a way past him! And on the subject of giantkillings, 30 years ago this year, for Peterborough Sports read Boston FC and for Michael Gash, Jim Kabia!

Ex Lynn manager Gary Mills has released his autobiography, 'Young Millsy'. He's had a few clubs to say the least and 20 years since he left Lynn so not sure how much of a mention we'll get. Surely The Great Escape warrants a chapter of its own though!

Barnet come to the Walks 2 weeks tomorrow, let's hope they're not still enjoying the new manager 'bounce' by then

Jimmy had brief spells in the Southern League with Chelmsford City and Barnet in the mid-Seventies. Can anyone remember whether he crossed paths with Lynn?
Think I remember him name checking Lynn on Saint and Greavise after another one of his ex non-league clubs, Woodford Town, knocked us out of the FA Cup to qualify for the first round proper. Woodford were a couple of leagues below Lynn I think so it was something of an upset!

In the mid 2000s and before twitter feeds etc, Radio Norfolk could not make all away games so they organised through the Supporters Club that either Stephen Hooks or myself would be their contacts for away goals, half time and full time reports. With modern technology in the 2020s it is a disgrace that again the fans cannot be kept up to date on matchday. Going back to no cover available when this type of thing happens, (hope your dad is on the mend Jamie), what happens in the future if SC is hospitalised for instance. Who else knows EXACTLY what goes on behind the scenes?
You might be on to something with the retro theme there Gordon. Perhaps SC plans to start selling Pink Uns from the Walks at 6PM on a Saturday so those who couldn't travel to away games can find out how we got on!

All the best Sonny
Does undisclosed fee exceed our record received for Mark Paul?
Front page recalls Carey's free kick v Port Vale??? Big goal in the club's history but pretty sure it came from open play?

Name some players over the years who came through reserves.
Mark Howard 80s Andy Hunt 90s both went on to play football league. Defty bros would have played a lot of res football before breaking into the first team. We've also seen many reserves step up to effectively become the first team for short or not so short spells over the years when a manager has left and a large swathe of his first team have followed him! But as others have said never has the gap between first and reserves in terms of divisions been as great as it is now. How many other full time National league sides have a second string playing in a step 6 league? The times are a changing at the Walks for sure.

Been very reliably informed that the U21/Ressies has had the plug pulled on them. So whats the good of telling all these youngsters to join the academy if you want to play for KLTFC. What chance is there of being elevated straight into the 1st team directly from say the U19s? Surely if a player is that good he will be scouted by someone far bigger than Kings Lynn. Sad day, the last time this happened i believe was under the Gary Mills leadership. On thge plus side the teams such as Fakenham, Swaffham, Downham etc will surely benefit from this folly.
Pretty sure it was during the Peter Morris era that the club decided to run without a reserve side. A reserve team had returned during Gary Mills' tenure, playing in the UCL reserve divisions, with Paul Ramsey in a player-coach role I believe. https://fchd.info/KINGSL2.HTM

Top scorers were Mariott and Mitchell both with 8 goals. Lowest amount since Dave Gregory also top scored with 8 in 1988/89, a season where we scored a whopping 31 league goals all season. Dark days they were!

Bourne to Ipswich. What an horrendous journey.
Ipswich Wanderers moved to the Southern Division at their request
Evidently there was too much wandering for the Wanderers!

There's some journeys in there for step 6 football. Huntingdon to Sheringham, Bourne to Great Yarmouth
