General Discussion / Re: Boxing day v Boston.

I never buy fruit and veg when I go to Boston Market. I've always found their grapes are sour!

B&G, really don't see any of the posts to be sour grapes as many of the points are probably factually correct, things like the lack of access to the club house when supporters were asked to get there early (I know the segregated area wouldn't have access to the main stand but visitors wouldn't). Our club has a hell of a lot to learn off the pitch - its all well and good that we are performing on the field but we knew we were no more than a decent step 3 side off it and comments like the those on the Boston forum shouldn't be belittled they should be taken as criticism from which the club has to learn from. As KES80 has said, York are coming next month so we had better be acting quickly on anything that can be done to avoid a repeat.

General Discussion / Re: Where was the collection?
« on: December 27, 2019, 01:16:51 PM »
Bucket collectors were standing near the turnstyles so presume most home fans would have passed them coming into the ground, don't think they came round but guess they were watching the game?

General Discussion / Boston (New Years Day)
« on: December 27, 2019, 01:13:53 PM »
Do we know what areas of the ground Lynn have been allocated, presume the Jakeman's terrace and some of the seated area at the other end of the ground? Don't think they operate the same sort of box office as Lynn so just pay at the turnstyle?

General Discussion / Re: Boxing day v Boston.
« on: December 27, 2019, 01:10:04 PM »
Thought IC got it spot on with his post match comments - Boston the better side until the sending off which changed the game (but was clearly a sending off) and Lynn came more into the game as Boston sat back, both sides struggled with the conditions and it was difficult to play any sort of flowing football. We looked better when we went to a back three and IC kept tinkering with his attacking options which finally paid off.

Personally thought they played Gash & Marriott as well as anyone and with the conditions our midfield struggled to add that bit of extra quality to really open them up. Unfortunately my fears about the prospect of two games in a week seem to be well founded with two red cards and further scuffles meaning next weeks trip up the A17 is also likely to be another feisty affair, lets hope for better weather and a good consistent ref.

As for the comments from the Boston fans re segregation etc, probably reasonable as that seemed by far the most densely populated area of the ground so if it is possible it might be better to extend the covered area segregation - looking at the Walks compared to many grounds in the league, it does look 'tired' but improvements are being made and hopefully lessons will be learned from yesterday's experience of a big away following.

General Discussion / Re: Adam Marriott
« on: December 27, 2019, 12:54:43 PM »
I really, really hope that the club don't stand in Adam's way should a league side come in for him or make things any more awkward than necessary. Not saying it wouldn't be disappointing to lose him BUT looking at the wider picture we have to accept where we are in the pyramid and, as SC said recently in his Q&A evening, part of making Lynn an attractive club for good players to come to is that we can clearly demonstrate that we can improve them and if league / full-time football is their goal then we can help make that happen. Maybe in the fullness of time that could be with the club itself, but for now that will mean players "moving up".

General Discussion / Re: Gloucester

With nothing coming out about a new arrival prior to the trip to Gloucester, can we assume IC is looking to get through the next three games with existing resources and hope that players start to recover quicker than new injuries are incurred? I guess it will depend on how serious Hawkins, Jarvis and Henderson were after Dover as in effect we finished with 12 fit first team players - the 10 that finished plus Kelly and Ward. Stewart is now back at Lynn and the reserves are only playing the next two Saturdays so the likes of Joseph Taylor could at least make the bench look a little healthier for the two Boston games.

General Discussion / Re: Team of the Decade?
« on: December 23, 2019, 01:37:20 PM »
Apart from the full backs who have gone onto better things, probably only one or two lads from the start of the decade who could even warrant a place in IC's current squad, so for me -

Street
Fryatt, Ward, McAuley
Norman, Clunan, Jarvis, Blake-Tracey
Thompson
Gash, Marriott

Although this interview was separate from the evening at the Walks with SC, there are some common themes so have added the link onto this thread

https://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/exclusive-steve-cleave-talks-kings-lynn-town-ian-culverhouse-norwich-connection-4308490#popup-sso

Not sure about his view on the FA getting involved with compensation for players but I guess he is closer to the finances than me so does take it that much more personally, for me we should be developing all players full stop - if they go on to higher things then great but if not we have a better player ourselves, the development of Tom Ward would be the prime example in IC's first spell at the club.

Also quite an opportune time to be talking up our relationship with Norwich City and loans, could do with something practical coming out of that link in the next week.

General Discussion / Re: Bad news for the Linnets.

Awful news for Michael and still can't believe he tried to 'run it off' rather than come off immediately. I think Alfie is capable of filling the gap, particularly in terms of making the team tick over, but would still prefer have both of them available for the run of games over Christmas.

General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn v Dover Athletic Highlights
« on: December 16, 2019, 02:07:25 PM »
Clearly Gash couldn't be offside when the defender knocked it on and think this was probably one of the very rare occasions the ref got it right by waving play on at the time. Only question could be, was he offside when Fox played the original pass? I didn't think so at the time but in the picture he Gash is nowhere near onside although to be fair the ball has travelled a long way before it is then knocked on by the defender.

See their manager whinging about being called 'cheats' in his after match interview - maybe we could send him a highlights reel of all the diving in the first half which would perhaps help explain a few things to him. Very shifty in his post match interview as I think he knew he got it wrong on the day, sole intent was to 'get at' the ref early on and then came out 'aggressive' second half (first two fouls by Lynn both ended up in shoving matches) which still didn't put Lynn off their stride and even against 10 men Dover didn't really produce much, Lynn proved that you could play football on the surface so again their manager looking outside for excuses.

WLM, on a 'normal' day Adam could easily have had a hattrick, but team pulled together and got the job done.

Stan, whether it has occurred to IC or not doesn't make it any less a valid talking point, although you do seem to struggle with the idea of the forum as a place for debate. On your second point, I hope (and fully expect) IC has much better things to do with his time to read the thoughts of the dozen or so fans that remain posting on the forum

General Discussion / Re: Trophy Draw
« on: December 16, 2019, 01:21:16 PM »
They are struggling in the league but another National league side for IC to pit his wits against and who might enjoy the break from a relegation fight, although a lot of games between now and then. Personally I would like the option of bringing them back to the Walks under floodlights but will squad numbers mean we opt for a finish on the day again?

General Discussion / Re: Dover
« on: December 15, 2019, 11:10:58 PM »
I thought Dover looked quicker and sharper than many sides we have faced this season, just didn't have anything in the final third first half, changes at half time improved that but not by much, as proven by extra time where they couldn't really muster much against 10 men. Think they came thinking we would be more physical and a gameplan to get the ref (who had an absolute shocker) on side but we ended up playing most of the football and sliced them open with some great play at times (thought the pitch held up well so again, thanks to Steve). All in all, pleased to be into the next round and can't ever knock this side for not giving 100% but they are so much more than 'triers' as the football is great, just a shame there were less than 800 there to see it.

...Simply if Lynn can bring someone back or use a ressie or (and I doubt this would be possible) bring someone in on loan, then decisions have to made very soon...not next Saturday....hence me bringing it up so soon after the Dover clash.

Think this is a fair point, Norwich u23s only have 2 fixtures in the next month so maybe Alfie could have a word, alternatively Peterborough reserves next fixture is Jan 14th so there maybe an option there? Can't see anything other than a loan but would certainly feel happier with an extra body or two (depending on the news on the injuries) for the Christmas fixtures. Wouldn't disagree with the posts that the current squad can all make solid claims for a starting spot when fit but would hate to be left in a position where we can't cover another injury because we don't have a bench.

Not entirely sure that was the process that was used when you joined the committee MAH, seems an unusual procedure being down to the committee and not the membership - maybe a rule change proposal for next years AGM?
