General Discussion / Re: The season so far
« on: August 17, 2016, 07:04:05 PM »
Our present squad is not promotional material. At best -mid table.
The fact that Alex Street was player of the season 2 years running indicates
that our defence is under too much pressure.
The new lad Mcwilliams is a great addition, and hopefully more
QUALITY players to follow (who are actually fit) !

Clearly 2 home draws, and 2 bad away defeats suggests relegation form ?
As I have mentioned previously, with Kern Miller going, we badly needed cover
in defence, but failed to recruit quality defenders ! Also the long awaited winger
has also failed to materialised !  Some may suggest that Setch is not doing Enough?
I shall wait to see, but we need a miracle to turn our current form into a promotion push.

Plenty of good comment on our potential squad for next season. It is vital that we have plenty of cover in all positions, because as we all know, injuries, suspensions, loss of form etc. will happen !
God willing Setch will put the final touches to the squad.

Are we not a bit short in central defence? With Kern Miller going, we perhaps need cover in defence ?
Ryan Fryatt is now the best right back we have had for a while, and it would be best to
keep him there.
Midfield may need strengthening with Smith and Conner Marshall doubtful.
We have no problem in goal, because we have the best keeper in the league !
Up front is looking good with several possible choices.

Another great signing Setch. First Pedro now Sands. Keep that pen handy to sign
more. Any sign yet of a quality winger ?

Fantastic news. Alex is the best keeper in our league. Come on Setch let's have more good news
for next season. We need a good strong squad, to hit the ground running !

Banbury beat Taunton 2 - 0, and could be in the Southern Premier next season ?

in the Conference South.

Who got the awards last night ?

Redditch play Leamington, and Hungerford play Hitchin.
Kettering just failed to get there by just 1 point.
They needed Hungerford to beat Leaminton, but this game finished 0 -0.
Next year,  maybe we could be involved !

I agree that we have seen a significant improvement on last season,
when we finished far too close to the relegation zone !
Setch has a constant difficult job, in attracting players to the Walks.
Plus having a small squad, injuries, suspensions to contend with.
Over the last 5 years he has done a great job, and we should all
give him our support for the future, where we wait with anticipation
for who's in and who's out !

It's a shame that crowds have dropped off in recent seasons.
Just occasionally we have seen signs of potential increases in attendances,
for example on boxing day, but we played badly v Kettering,
and consequently the extra fickle fans were missing from the next game.
Our inconsisteny has costs us in results, crowds and income.

Let's hope we can finish on a high.
This season has been an improvement on last season.
We could have done better, but our league is a tough one to get out of,
when you consider that most of the teams involved in this seasons promotion/ playoffs,
had the experience of being in the same situation last season.
