General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn vs Weymouth in Play Off's
« on: May 02, 2018, 10:21:19 PM »
Three of the best goals of the season tonight. The keeper had no chance. Tremendous display by the entire team. The crowd were also great, shouting the team to victory !

We started well today, and should have been up by halftime. However once again, the first touch when controling the ball was missing. Too many balls in the air, and too many shots out the ground. Kettering have a better goal diff, so if they win there last two games, they will be second. Lets hope we save our best form for the key play offs.

General Discussion / Re: Attendance
« on: April 11, 2018, 02:52:42 PM »
Gone are the days of regular 1,000 attendances, except the odd special days. We are Southern League, playing football typical of our division - scrappy and inconsistant - sometimes good, sometimes bad. The average cost in the Southern League is around 10 pounds. We are charging up to 15 quid (football league prices). Therefore it is difficult to justify higher charges to attend, unless we play in a higher division. God willing it will happen in the play offs. On balance after watching Lynn for 20 years, I believe that we have the potential to get promoted.

General Discussion / Re: Merthyr on Saturday

It was a poor tired performance from Lynn. The first touch, decision making, passing etc all were below standard. I hope they have saved there best for the play offs ! Merthyr in the end deserved their point for a gutsy defensive display.

It was a difficult game on a very muddy and rutted surface, and a 1-1 draw was in the end just about acceptable. Once again super sub Toby Hilliard smashed home the equaliser. Some supporters expected perfect passing, but on that surfsce it was tricky. (We dont have the billiard table smooth surface that premier league sides have !). Also the lady referee got a lot of unnecessary male chauvinist comments ?

General Discussion / Re: no easy games

Clearly Hereford are in a strong position, plus Slough have all those games in hand. However as we have seen its not easy to win those games in hand ! All Lynn can do is to keep picking up points, and we should at least make the lottery of the play offs.

The point is that a gap is now opening up. The top5 or 6 are starting to pull away a bit. We are 10 points clear of the 6th team. However as I said, the next 3 games are away, so we must get some points from these games to maintain the lead at the top. Kettering,  Hereford and Slough are the danger teams, and they have games in hand. We must get a result when we play all them.

General Discussion / Redditch today

Unable to make ir today -Man Flu ! Listened on the radio. Great commentary from Radio Norfolk. Sounds like a good 3 points, which makes us 13 points clear of the 7th team. So we have a good chance of at least making the play offs. Unfortunately we now have 3 away games- so we need the points. See you on boxing day !

General Discussion / Re: Top of league, still.
« on: November 28, 2017, 09:55:14 PM »
We may be top of the league at the moment, but will it last ? We are struggling to beat the bottom sides, and we still dont have a fox in the box to put those chances away. The teams below us have games in hand, and we still have to play Weymouth at home, and the other three (Hereford, Kettering, Slough) home and away. If we dont get results against these other top teams, we will struggle to get in the play offs!

Another great professional performance today. We should have been 4 up by halftime. Metts was unluckly not to have a hatrick. I like the way that we battle to win the 50/ 50s. Lets hope we can continue this league form on Tuesday.

Another great team performance v Stratford. We could have had more goals, but we look solid in every position. We are top of the league. We need another big effort v Royston on Tuesday. Its only 63 miles ! A goood test of how good we really are will next Saturday v Nuneaton in the FA Cup !

General Discussion / St Ives away
« on: August 28, 2017, 06:32:52 PM »
Great support from the Lynn fans today. Must have been 300 plus who made the trip. Created lots of chances first half and should have been leading at half time. St Ives took a shock lead with a brilliant goal (top corner). Took us until 80 mins to equalise from close range. Then our superior fitness took over, and we scored 2 easy efforts. The last goal with their goalie stranded in our half. Plenty of banter. Great day out !

We appear to have a strong squad with plenty of talent. Lots of chances created, and strong in both midfield and defence. Its early days but we look good. A bigger than normal crowd went home happy. We will know better after say 5 games. COYL !

Hereford fc by the way charge only 9 pounds for a concession seat ! But they will get a massive average home crowd. They have already sold over 1000 season tickets !
