Tom Ward is cup tied

From Ossett United's GoFundMe page
"On Tuesday 12 November 2019 a court in Manchester found in favour of a semi-professional player who suffered a broken ankle playing for Radcliffe Borough in a game against Ossett Town. The league recommended insurance policy did not protect Ossett from damages or legal fees for the claimant should this case be lost, which it was, now leaving them with a £135,000 court order.

Not only does this put the entire club and the future of football in the town in jeopardy but also opens up the floodgates for all injured sports participants to successfully sue and win substantial money from the person who injured them and their club. This can then filter down to recreational sport like 5-a-side football where an individual can sue an opponent should they receive an injury during a game. This will change not only football but sports participation throughout the country at every level. Can you afford to pay a player injured at your club £135,000, because Ossett cannot."

Have had a few questions over the last couple of days on and off here but this really is not the format for me to answer them.  There is nothing sinister behind my silence just do not want to pour petrol on the flames - am sure all will be resolved in v near future. #COYL

Cliff Jones scored 34 goals in a season for KL, I think I’m right in saying, but was somehow cynically thought to be here to “pick up the money !”......

I think it was thirteen.
1970-71 season,   Laurie Brown dropped him from the Lynn team for the FA Trophy match against Bedford despite him being the leading scorer at the time (Lynn lost). Later that season Jones moved to Bedford and scored against Lynn in March 1971.

The League uses the FA website to record their fixtures and stats and that shows the match being at The Walks.

As a matter of interest what was the Lynn team that day beaten 5-1 ?
"King's Lynn Town's interest in cup competitions ended when they were beaten by the better team at Nantwich.
It was a score that flattered the home side with Alex Street not forced into a great deal of action, it was just that when Nantwich had the opportunities, invariably as breakaways, they made the most of them.
Defensive errors were Lynn's undoing as the clinical finishing of The Dabbers was decisive and the skills and speed of former Northern Ireland international Steve Jones caused problems for the Lynn defence. Jones, now 39 and with his 18th club, opened the scoring in the eighth minute following a mistake by Kern Miller.
Liam Shotton put the Dabbers two up on the hour after another defensive slip had allowed Darren Thornton's run and cross to create the opportunity.
Sam Gaughran's goal, following Michael Clunan's free kick, brought the score to 2-1 and gave a glimmer of hope but two minutes later Lynn were two adrift again when Lewis Short took advantage of Linnets' missing defence.
It was the first of three goals in a five minute spell.
Shotten added his second and Nantwich's fourth with a simple goal and then Ryan Fryatt was red carded for a trip on Chris Smith which resulted in Liam Shotton completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot.
Nantwich: Burynski, White, Thornton, Moran, Bailey, Osbourne (Hancock), Jones (Gordon), Hall, Shotton, Bell, Short. Subs: Hancock, Gordon, C Smith, Bourne, T Smith. Booked: Osbourne. Scorers: Jones, Shotton 3 (1 pen), Short
Lynn: Street, R Fryatt, Yong, Miller (Bird h/t), Gaughran, Smith, Clunan, Hurst, Hilliard (Edge), Stevenson, Friend (Zielonka). Unused subs:  L Fryatt, Pearson. Scorer: Gaughran.
Sent off: R Fryatt.
Attendance: 329"
