I wonder how he’ll spin this one?

It was overly optimistic (foolish) to think that this season would be able to be a normal 46 game season, especially given how the last ended. I’d advocate knocking this one on the head, and maybe regional tournaments April-June, in preparation for hopefully a normal(ish) 2021/22 season, post vaccine rollout.

Regarding the DCMS/Sport England 'Winter Survival Fund':

The National League met with the FA this week to emphasise the need for their allocation to be in grants rather than loans.

I understand the FA is also 'pushing very hard' for Steps 3-6 to receive the funding in grants.

Why are the FA only pushing for grants for 3-6 and not steps 1-6.  Ok they have had a 10m hand already but they have much higher overheads.

With the expectation that step 3 and under will be abandoned and declared Null and Void why do these clubs need all these millions ?

If the money is not forthcoming to the NL in the form of a gift then the plug might as well be pulled on those Leagues as well.  Better than letting clubs go bust.   Or maybe the prudent clubs have tucked some of their of the 10m away for a rainy day.

It’s likely that they saw how the first grants were spent, and if they’re loans it’s unlikely clubs will use them to sign new players, rather than their stated purpose.

General Discussion / Re: Lockdown help needed
« on: January 09, 2021, 07:16:10 PM »
The crux of it tis that people are comparing it to the Lockdown in March last, but rather than go back to those rules, we’ve reverted to the rules we had just before that Lockdown ended. They’d spent months being gradually eased as cases dropped, prior to the switch to tiers. But we’ve now got more cases, more deaths and busier hospitals, but haven’t gone whole hog. The rhetoric is of full lockdown, the rules are not.

Still think the first lot of money should have come with an embargo, it prompted a flurry of signings across the league, which means that now attempts to plead poverty will likely fall on deaf ears.

How to pay off the loans; share issue?

I do wonder if being given a run in first-team too soon effected him long term, or if his promise was never quite there.

Is playing for Tasman United in New Zealands top division.

Might be old news to some, but first I've heard of it, and couldn't find another mention in the former linnets thread.

Hope he gets some more game time at Walsall, too talented to be wasted on a bench at this stage of his career.
