A fine performance all round, by everyone.
Cody Johnson looks a coup, Tommy Hughes is a real tidy footballer, who as Adam Lakeland said in his interview, with a full pre-season behind him should reap the rewards.
But they all played well and could have had more goals today.
Which brings me onto my one gripe - and again, the boss wasn't happy either - that stupid penalty by Gold.......I can't swaer on this forum, so lets just say it was rubbish........really rubbish, including a rubbish run up.
By all means try that when we're 4-0 up, don't try it when there's only one goal in it!! Again, as Lakeland said, that miss then affected him a few minutes later when he had a one on one with the keeper and he fluffed his lines. But, he'll get 20 plus goals this season, so I shouldn't be too harsh.
One other "gripe" - why weren't the away fans in the corner?? I didn't like them having the whole end behind the goal

"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard"
A message emblazoned on walls at Manchester City, but surely applies to all levels of football

I've just completed the survey and as already said, some interesting questions.
I think the point of wanting success as mentioned on here is a valid statement.
I also think that when you are a fan of a team, it can cause irrational thinking/behaviour to how you would normally react in another situation.
We're a funny breed, us football fans!!

Big game.
They are out of sorts, we're in great form.
I'm venturing down there for the match - I take it you can pay on the gate??
Hopefully a decent Linnets turnout to cheer the boys on

Barrett is a talented player, we cannot deny that, but his attitude and application lets him down.
I'm disappointed we didn't command a fee for him, but as others have said, at least it frees up some wages.
The fact it's Aldershot and Widdrington annoys me - and without wishing to derail the thread, do we know if Lynn are getting any compensation or money fro Widdrington walking out on us??
I haven't heard or seen anything regarding that matter??

So as AL said join the dots on who messed this deal up. Then again with the Chairman saying he’s £300k short of getting us to the end of the season is it really a surprise. Established National League players on loan won’t come cheap.
So Lakeland wanted him but someone at the Club didn't. Seems strange it was a done deal then not signed off. Can we surmise from this some form of breakdown in communication, or worse ?
I don't think Lakeland said exactly that to be truthful When he said join the dots, he was alluding to the player he wished to sign, without naming the player - the interviewer then "joined the dots" and guessed who the player was, to which Lakeland agreed that was indeed the person. He wasn't saying join the dots on who messed the deal up He did say someone at the club pulled the deal, but to be fair, we don;t know which club it was - it could have been Lynn, but it could have been the players old (or new for that matter) club I've watched Lakeland's post match interview twice now and that's my interpretation of what he said

The best managers adapt the system to get the best out of the players that they inherit, prior to reshaping their squad.
For all we know, maybe Adam Lakeland has already done that for the system he wants to play

It was a case of men against boys today - Boston wanted it and we didn't seem to have the same appetite.
Not intentionally singling one player out in a rubbish performance, but we have a young tall striker, but we don't win anything in the air up front.......until Coulson goes up there.
Among the many things we need is a tenacious ball winning midfielder, who is prepared to get stuck in and fight for the cause - we have a lot of technically gifted players but none who will stick a foot in (cleanly) to win a tackle at the risk of getting hurt.
I personally like the manager and his assistant, but in a results driven business, they need to start earning their money - we are constantly told that these players are not the managers players, yet football experts often tell us that "good players can adapt to any system".......so either our system is such a mess it is impossible to adapt, or, our players just aren't that good.......or both.
We didn't even have a shot until late in the second half
I think the off field shennanigans IS having a big affect on the field and if we aren't careful, it could turn toxic as fans become more frustrated with the situation and results, which will in turn transcend onto the pitch and affect the players further.
Today, at the end of the match, when the players came across to applaud us and we were singing "Cleeve Out" etc., was it me, or did they stand there longer than normal?? What must they all be thinking??
It's a mess

Not confirmed.
Hearing that Crowther has been sold.
Do we know where to?? Being honest if it gets a decent fee and helps keep the club afloat, it may be a good thing. Or, on the other hand, there may be two Bentley's on someones driveway

Cleeve has tonight tweeted that all catering staff haven't been sacked and that it was a "misinformation" from another member of staff.
Yet, two of the staff I spoke to today, said they had been told they are being "replaced"
I didn't go into the bar today, so I'm unsure what happened staff wise there, but the refreshments stall at the Tennyson Road end.......the guy who cooks the burgers etc. walked out stating he would only be getting minimum wage today (on Boxing Day) and said it wasn't worth his while. The lady with glasses who usually works in there (I think she runs it??) and a young blonde girl stayed and were absolute superstars, serving the many Lynn and Boston fans today - cannot sing their praises highly enough and indeed the lady with glasses said she only stayed on today as she didn't want to let the fans down - she also stated she didn't even know if they would get paid for today.
On Lynn's biggest day of the season, at the start of their shifts, Cleeve tells the staff they may no longer be required - that is arrogant, ridiculous, insincere and stupid all at once..........I don't blame any of them who walked out today
Read a post on facebook that Zoe too has been relieved of her duties??
The atmosphere vs Boston was so flat it was ridiculous.
I've defended Cleeve many times - even earlier in this thread - but my days, he is certainly doing a good job at alienating as many people connected with the club (staff, fans etc) as possible.
I personally am beginning to fear for the future - we are not in a good place (and I don't just mean league positions as I think the management team could keep us up)

I have to say I sense a lot of 'point scoring' in this thread - almost an "I told you so" kind of vibe against SC
I'm impartial when it comes to SC - of course he has made mistakes, yes he can be very aloof towards supporters, yes he has managed to seemingly alienate himself from Lynn's fanbase
But, he has also pumped a great deal of money into OUR cluband given us some fantastic seasons along the way. If anybody gets any sort of pleasure seeing SC fail, at the expense of our club - is that commendable?? Surely, personal feelings aside, you would want the club and SC to flourish??
I've now watched AL's interview post Warrington and I feel for the guy - if SC has made a mistake [mistakes] it has been in his appointments of inept managers (Simon Clarke & Mark Hughes) and all chairman are guilty of that.
I do find it a shame that people cannot back SC in the way that he has backed the club and despite all his mistakes and ability to upset certain supporters, surely nobody can deny he hasn't backed the club??
The current manager has faith in SC to sort things out.......I agree with the manager (SC is married to a Russian wife Polina Cleeve, who could hopefully have links to an oligarch!!!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9fPQzYM2h0An honest assessment which gives me positive vibes. Without actually criticising the previous regime, he alludes to the group not being up to it (fitness wise) and the recruitment not being the greatest which again, alludes to what we were all thinking in that Hughes was a nice chap, but not up to it. I genuinely think that given a bit of time, Adam Lakeford will do a very good job at Lynn

Have to say, I haven't come away so disappointed from the Walks in a long, long time.
On the positive side, Hargreaves' return showed what we have been missing for most of 2023, MotM for me by a country mile, also good to see Barrett playing more of a role although ultimately the most positive thing from today will be that AL and SW will be left in no doubt about the size of the task ahead of them, saw AL's comments about 'rebalancing' the squad but think he may struggle moving some on - we are already the bottom rung of full time football so where can we move them to?
Biggest negative was that we went in with 3 centre halves, two wing backs, two midfielders and then a front three a system that we have gone with for the majority of home games this season but which doesn't work with the players in the squad, even with the new pairing of Hargreaves and Oke playing in the middle of the park. We did eventually change but next week's training has to focus on a different formation, the problem being that most of the centre halves are better in a 3 whereas neither of the full backs look close to having the skill set of being wingbacks and the starting front three continue to look like individuals battling with the system rather than more than the sum of their parts.
I don't think it's that bad. I agree we didn't offer a lot, but up to when we equalised, I thought we had the momentum and I thought we would push on and possibly win. Their second goal killed that and from where I was standing, it did look a hell of a strike. Their third, we got punished for a poor backpass (I think that's what he was trying) and then it was game over. Regarding the formation, I firmly believe the management team are astute enough to pick the best formation they can, with the players available - so with his comments after the match, if he can get players in / ship players out, we may see a change in that formation......... ........who knows, they've only been in charge for one match. If we are all saying the same things in three or six months time, then it will have been a failure, but we have to have some belief and faith Adam Lakeland is the best manager in the league after all (that was a joke by the way, quoting our chairman!!)

I think it's for the best that Hughes has gone and, more importantly, that waste of space Whitbread.
I wonder if Whitbread was appointed as a "more experienced" guy who could assist Hughes, but from what I can make out Whitbread offered nothing - maybe with a better number two, Hughes may have faired better?? But we'll never know.
I'm quite underwhelmed at a Coulson / Jones partnership - too inexperienced for the situation we are in now.
We need either a seasoned pro, or a young hungry manager, with contacts who can draw quality players to the club,
Also, to be fair to Cleeve, he has acted on the situation, before it became worse
