General Discussion / Re: Ryan Hawkins

Could be good use of the winnings from the Buxton game. Isn't there some money from the other cup games as well!

The question has to be if money is involved will it be a worthwhile investment. Is there an agency involved . Apparently Ryan has an ambition to be a full time footballer and has trials with several league clubs including Stevenage ( where the agency is based?)Would he come to Lynn to further his career?

Just read on the EDP website that we are going to sign Ryan Hawkins from St Neots.

General Discussion / Re: Norfolk Senior Cup
« on: November 15, 2016, 02:08:11 PM »
Lynn are the best team in Norfok outside the football league . In terms of effort and commitment they are probably better than that "big" club the other side of Dereham on the way to Yarmouth. To prove this they need to win the Senior cup.
Is the final at Carrow Road still? If so, a good night out for the fans and a good experience for the players.
This season is probably going to be all about cup runs.
A decent run in the FA cup(already achieved)
A decent run in the Fa trophy (being achieved)
Winning the Norfolk Senior Cup. Isn't it disrespectful to the other Norfolk clubs if we don't field our strongest team and show them by results who is the best!!

We would have to watch out for altitude sickness. Buxton is the highest town in England in one of the prettiest areas of the country ( as long as you ignore the giant limestone quarry that lies just outside the town) and don't forget to sample some of the ORIGiNAL spa water. The scenic route is Sleaford,
Newark ( the A46 roundabout is a s-d ), Mansfield , Chesterfield with its twisted church spire, Bakewell ( for a tart!) and then the Wye valley to Buxton.

General Discussion / Re: Ticketing system

I suppose the new ticketing system can lead to accurate accounting, essential when gate money is to be shared e.g. FA cup games and indeed when any accounts are being prepared regarding declared income.
One way to encourage use of the online system is to offer a REDUCTiON!! on the normal ticket price rather than charge a booking fee.

General Discussion / Re: Mills loses first game

When I saw the subject title I thought it might be something to do with football!! not a load of nonsense. Perhaps my expectations might be too high!
Gary Mills leaving is a loss to the club , particularly for his playing ability and I imagine the contacts he has with clubs in the midlands e.g. Northampton town ( Shaun Mc Williams) and Rugby ( Kurtis Revan).

The Midlands contact might help. McWilliams looked useful before his injury. Any possibility of any other loan players from Northampton or Peterborough? Young hungry players who train on a daily basis and out to make an impression, who would be great for our young squad to play alongside.

The captain needs to be a leader and MOTIVATOR. Shouting/swearing does not Fulfil the latter requirement.
Surely Gary Mills should be the captain and if not it should be Sam. Our younger players need nurturing and developing into better players. Players like Dylan ,Toby, Danny and Michael need to be looking to move on from Lynn eventually and with quality coaching could achieve this ( Are they receiving this !They don't want to be stuck in a step 3 dead end! We need to enjoy them as they play for us and the more senior players need to play a part in their development. Stevo is a good role model for the younger players( another candidate for captaincy ) Why is Mettam the captain? At the moment a lot of talk seems to focus on this one player who needs a Big man up front with him.
Can we stop playing hoof ball from back to front all the time When Toby plays he wins a lot of balls in the air because he is brave. It is up to the little man to predict where the ball falls and get it and do something with it. Mettam scored a good goal in the Cirencester game with the Dan Quigley assist but there has to be other ways of playing. We get sussed out by the opposition pretty quickly and at times it is pretty boring to watch.

"The big man up front" was why Sands was signed but that didn't work out although he seems to be doing o.k. now at Needham Market. There are other goal scorers around. Joe Francis banging in the goals for Leiston, Dubi scoring for Soham, Greg Smith for Boston and Michael Frew for Wisbech!!.
The goal drought is not just about a big man; we need players who can score goals.
Did we lose last night because Leamington had better players.? Probably. It must be easier to find good players with their geographical location.
In saying this Lynn are the highest achieving non league team in Norfolk and possibly Cambridgeshire.
We are as good or better than Camridge City, St Ives and St Neots. We want to achieve but need to be realistic. Make do and support what we have unless anyone can come up with a practical alternative.

General Discussion / Re: Alfreton on Saturday
« on: October 02, 2016, 06:23:34 PM »
Yesterday there were 38 third round ties and 18 step 3 games. Attendances were as follows:
Stockport 3181
FC United 1541
Tonbridge 1112
Fc Halifax 964
LYNN 847 - the fifth highest  out of 56 games!
I would estimate there were about 50 from Alfreton, so there were some 300 more supporting Lynn than the previous Saturday. Hopefully, they will be back next Saturday: the efforts of our team yesterday certainly deserve it. So why more yesterday.
Norwich not at home?
The appeal of the FA cup and the challenge of having a go at a higher level team?
The publicity and the encouragement of the youngsters through the appearance of the mascots and the cup visit to the schools during the week?

lLets hope these attendance figures keep rising.

Well here we are! FA Cup Day. Really impressed to see that the "cup" toured the schools this week and flyers for the game have been handed out and that we have mascots from the schools today.
Any chance for ball boys/girls. It was a bit of a trudge for Alex to retrieve the ball from the corner flag on Tuesday.
Memorable FA cup days.

Watching Brighton beat Wisbech 10-1
Watching Lynn beat Wisbech 5-3 ( 3rd qualifying round Metcalf and Clarkson scoring for Wisbech. Can anyone tell me the year for this one please- I know it was In the previous century!!
Watching on T.v. Ronnie Radford scoring for Hereford against Newcastle. ( Recommended viewing on you tube for all Norwich supporters to cheer themselves up after midweek!)

Anyway, back to today. Five hours to kick off! Come on you linnets!
