General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn Town v King's Langley
« on: September 28, 2016, 09:07:12 AM »
A game of two halves. A very frenetic start by Lynn with a lack of composure( missed  Mills and Stevenson for that ) and King's Langley came into the game and eventually they scored.
Lynn came out early for the second half and it was good to see Sam motivating the team. ( He had another good game ) Second half much better, but it took a long time to realise that Zacek is the person to deliver a good corner! ( He also had a good game) Danny grew as the game went on; good strength and pace. Good to see him having a shot at goal as well. Very energetic and enthusiastic contribution by Alex Clunan when he came on as sub. Good that Kurtis scored again, but for whatever reason he and Dylan seemed to go missing at times in the game. Good steady performance by Jordan as well. Overall, a satisfactory result and all credit to the opposition who came to play football and were a hardworking side and it was easy to see why they have had their recent promotions.
The football was palatable last night and the recipe has the right ingredients. Hopefully Alfred won't burn our cakes on Saturday!

They beat AFC Fylde in the previous round 1-0. This was Fylde's first defeat of the season

General Discussion / Re: Attendances
« on: September 18, 2016, 10:27:28 PM »
When I started this subject I included the attendances to show that Lynn is a well supported club not to create dispute as to accuracy of the figure for Saturday's game.
How could the number be increased still further
Next Saturday Norwich are at home . The choice of two good games at the same time.
What about Sunday football at the Walks?
A few miles up the road Wisbech were the first semi professional club to play a game on a Sunday( albeit back in the 1960's). At that time they were getting about 600 through the turnstiles. For the aforementioned game against Dunstable the gate was 1200. ( The headline in the "Daily Mail" on the following day was "Double the gate, double the take in sleepy sunny Wisbech).
So, on a Sunday, let's have " kids for a Quid", encouraging the families; let's have the players and spectators from the local leagues who play on a Saturday; let's have the Norwich supporters to cheer on Norfolk's other top team!

General Discussion / Attendances
« on: September 18, 2016, 11:40:43 AM »
Out of 80 cup ties yesterday Lynn had the 11th highest.
These were:
Stockport County 1425
Blyth Spartans 1065
Kidderminster 1050
Salisbury 945
Ebbs fleet 855
Sutton Town 823
Dulwich Hamlet 822
Worcester 721
Osset Town 694
Chelmsford 675

Next weekend I will look at the step 2 and 3 fixtures. Our game against Chippenham should be a good one, as I believe they are a footballing side and not like yesterday's visitors.

Can we make the top ten in the attendance list!

General Discussion / Re: Game v Harlow
« on: September 17, 2016, 06:43:53 PM »
An entertaining ENCOUNTER. A good win and thank goodness no replay is necessary. A great effort by our youngsters plus Stevo. Great cross by Toby for the goal.
Some unsavoury incidents:
The melay near the end. I think Dylan and the Harlow player had the situation under control so why did anyone else get involved! Reminded me of school playground incidents! Also, the second Harlow player sent off spat in the direction of the Lynn dug out on his way off! Hopefully, this will add to his suspension, although I think he was receiving quite a bit of verbal provocation from one of our players who had been substituted
How long will we lose our players for the sending offs ( one game or three)
The ref was poor today but not as poor as his assistants, who missed the elbow on Toby

'Looks as if discipline and composure helped in gaining the victory. Great that Dan Quigley was there to support and encourage his teammates. Did Leon Mettam do the same?
Biggleswade on Tuesday is a winnable game . However, at least a point would be a good return from this game.
Looking forward to the FA cup on Saturday and hopefully a good attendance to urge the team on.

Well done! A great win. Good to see the away form sorted and the togetherness of the club flourishing.

General Discussion / Re: Brigg Town today

Sorry "Loughborough Linnet ". I am just a poor King's Lynn supporter who lives by the coast. The nearest I get to putting white marks on grass is when I was restoring my old garden seat the other day and spilt Dulux on the grass. Now that creates white marks that last. As for football refreshments, I cook and eat "dinner" ( that's the meal I have a midday) before leaving for the football. I reckon in terms of ingredients and fuel it costs between 1 and 2. I hope this clarifies that I am not who some people I think I am? It costs a bit for petrol to get to Lynn but not long before I get the bus pass!

Sorry Zebra. Just a little bit tetchy with Lynn "supporters" who have gone on a bit too much about price of drinks etc.
Thought the Brigg players worked hard and never gave up even when 5-0 down which added to the value of the game. Hope you had a safe journey back and good luck for the rest of the season

Well done! Be it the world of work or sport the encouragement and development of the younger generation is great to see. The youngsters who played today are a credit to themselves, Backie, Setch and Gary Mills.. Well done also to the professionalism of the older players. Stevo, particularly by his work rate, today is an excellent example for the younger players. Also Gary Mills, by his vision in picking the right passes. Overall, a good shift by all today

Once again a conversation about football has deteoriated into one about the price of a pint.
If you don't like the price of something; don't buy it!!

Agree about the good performance today and nice to be able to add to a forum user who actually talks about football. I did look initially at the " FA cup" topic but  bar one comment found it totally dominated by a load of nonsense.
All the players did well today and a welcome 3,000 for the club. Another home tie would be good but I think we are due for an away one. I just hope we dint get Kettering. St Neots or Stamford at home would be good.

There are many reasons to watch Lynn rather than Norwich. Here are some:
1. The admission is cheaper
2. Tea is 1.50 rather than the 2.00 at Carrow Road
3. The chance to see local players, all of whom seem proud to wear the shirt. Unlucky with two of the summer signings who couldn't be bothered to keep themselves fit over the Summer.
4  Not so long to queue at the loos
5. Room to breathe as more space in the stand
6. Able to move around the ground
I am a Norwich season ticket holder would'nt want any special offers at Lynn; a boarded up ground and no local football is still in the memory. Glad to have a local team at step 3 to support.
