General Discussion / Enough is enough

As the subject says - Enough is enough and from now on I will not read this Forum ever again.  IMO it has now got to as low as it can get.  Moan, moan and how some can say they are supporters is beyond me.  The rest of the site is great and I will continue to read the front page and other topics daily.

For the last time - Regards - Badger.  :oldman" (76).  A supporter for 71 years.

General Discussion / Respect
« on: August 19, 2016, 09:21:04 AM »
I am amazed at the lack of respect shown on this message board towards Mr Cleeve.  That is his name and how he should be addressed, unless of course he has said otherwise.  If so, I will stand corrected, if not I do not have to name names here who have in my opinion been rude, just read the forum, one in particular stands out.

Now we know this honour is not going to happen why not do what I have been asking for the club to do for some time.  Name a part of the ground in his honour, ideally the stand opposite the Adrian Flux Stand, or as the hospital has now gone that part of the ground.

I did ask Buster but he wasn't interested, maybe Mr Cleeves might.

Mick Manning was another local GK fondly remembered by a lot of people, however, not in the same league as Percy Hooper and Ron (thanks New Recruit for the correct name) Crooks.

Whilst I agree with the comments made about Street and Steel, those of us in my age group who have supported the Club much longer would also suggest that the best GK by far would be Percy Hooper.  A close second would be Ian(?) Crooks.

Unfortunately IMO, this is where those who were responsible for starting the Legends Hall of Fame have let these type of players down.   They did the right thing and put Mick Wright straight in but I think they should also have put at least another 4 or 5 in without a vote.

Hi.  I am a bit confused.  I originally nominated two players, one of them being Mick Wright.  My confusion is twofold.  Have I cast my vote and not able to vote again, or as Mick is now IN, can I vote for someone else. Please reply Backie.  Regards - Badger.  :oldman"

I started to watch the Linnets just after the war in 1945 but this is not about me because there is someone else who has been a supporter longer and he still attends home and away matches.  He is Mr Ray Grainger and I hope he wont mind me posting this.

I agree wholeheartedly that Mick should go into the Hall of Fame automatically without having to vote him in.

I would like to remind people that last year I suggested on this Forum and to Buster that a part of the ground should be named after him, unfortunately it fell on deaf ears. I think now would be a great time to reconsider and hope the people in charge of the Club might approve.

General Discussion / Re: RESERVES V ELY TODAY AT 3P.M kick-off
« on: January 02, 2016, 10:49:43 PM »
Today's referee should imo be given top marks. Her positioning, decision making, only one serious mistake when she stopped play with Lynn on the attack and the goal in sight  to stop play and issue a yellow card for an offence by an Ely player. Her signals, team work with the linesmen was very good, plus, above all, she kept up with play at all times. So I hope whoever marks the referee at our games gives Ms A Marriott an excellent mark, she deserves it.y

Another player we must never forget is Joseph Dines.  Please read on our own Home page - Archive - Programme items - Names from the past - Joe Dines to read about him.  A really strong contender alongside Mick Wright to be entered into our Hall of Fame when it gets going.
