General Discussion / Re: Is it time to call a halt ?

Didn’t read about Sutton.  Think the two I saw were Slough and Oxford.

This latest cock up at The Walks certainly doesn’t help.   Is it true the Clubs H&S officer has walked on the back of this ?

I meant Slough. Apologies to all at Sutton.

I have no idea about the clubs h&s officer. Seems 2 people on have been told something, so maybe one of you could fill us all in?

This being a football forum I put up a new thread based on Football.   What GC EA. Etc do is maybe for a different forum.

Take your point Paul about mental health, this shouldn’t underestimated at anytime.   On the flip side the NL set up seems to suffering far more calls offs than those in the League structure.  Is that down to lack of professionalism, testing ?   Not sure why but that’s the way it seems.

Plus with no funds being available ( at this moment) to continue the season it seems make more sense to at the very least suspended the season until some of the issues can be put right.

I read at the weekend that a couple of clubs in the National League are looking to stop playing games.  While some players are refusing to train or play because of Covid safety.   One for example has a pregnant wife who doesn’t wish to put at risk ( perfectly understandable)

Fair point about non-football businesses!

As I said where possible it should continue. I think it’s Sutton Utd I read wanting season ending (null & void) which has nothing to do with being in the bottom 3.....they were happen enough for PPG last season when it got them in the play offs.

As for the player with a pregnant wife, can understand his worries but lots of people in same boat still have to work.

As estate agents etc, garden centres, coffee shops & “non” essential shops (for click & collect) are still open no reason football shouldn’t continue. If all those close then maybe football should as well.

Also, don’t forget the part it plays helping with mental health.....even though no fans can go to games having a game to watch at weekends does help.

Is Halifax’s game Tuesday night off as well ?

Is this a cock up by the club or the health and Safety officer.  All seems a little cloak and dagger

No Halifax is still on. Statement reads to me that Aaron Jones has not been around anyone at the club since the 22nd December so past the 14 day period (or 10 day, whichever it is today!!)

Little confused Paul, doesn’t take much these days.  Are you saying Saturdays game v Halifax shouldn’t have taken place ?  If so why did the the H&S officer allow this to happen.

No I'm not saying that. Are you?

TonyM is correct about Mair, he did make some great saves, but my MOM was Southwell, his work rate and movement off the ball was excellent, also made the goal.  We had the chances, but our choice of options was the wrong choice.

I'd agree with that. Thought Southwell was very good - he worked really hard up front and didn't let their defenders settle for too long. Another day we take out chances and win, but as others have said a few weeks ago we'd have probably caved in and conceded a couple. Personally think we're starting to show we can compete at this level.

plus the likes of estate agents how can any of these be classed as key.

Estate agents, solicitors & mortgage companies who work with them certainly not essential. I'm sure they can close for a few months like shops have had to do.

Getting back to football........

Looking at Halifax’s form going to be a tough game(as most are), however looks like their games have a few goals in for both sides.

Personally I’d go with team that drew with Torquay with King or Kiwomya replacing Loza.

Prediction 2-1 Lynn

What a load of bullocks.  It's self preservation time obviously. You reap what you sow.  Mr Cleeve of all people should know not to believe what comes out of politicians mouths.  I've no sympathy for anyone who has been flashing the cash this season, knowing full well that there was no guarantee the trough would be kept topped up. Absolute madness.

All he’s asking for is clarity, like most clubs are. National League don’t seem to be the best organised for a so called “elite league”. Appears to be very little coming from them if you look at their website.

Unless there is a total lockdown don't think people will take it serious. I have always taken it serious but when you see estate agents being put in the category as nessesary it just make it all a joke.

Agree about estate agents (and associated businesses). Also no need for garden centres and places like Poundland, the range etc to be open. I’m sure they can cope for a couple of months.

Personally feel the likes of banks, dentists and garages (for repairs) are essential

General Discussion / Re: new signing
« on: January 06, 2021, 12:42:54 PM »
Have to say it’s a brave decision by the Chairman to add two new bodies in a week when the whole country goes into lockdown and at the same time as the initial 3 months of Gov money ends.  The Chairman must be confident that the new offer of money from Sport England is going to come through in decent numbers in the form of a grant and not a loan.   If not is he thinking he will find it all himself ?

Fair point. Guess all the other clubs in this league who have signed players in the last week are confident of the money coming through as well.
