General Discussion / Re: Next season's squad ?
« on: June 03, 2019, 04:38:35 PM »
I'm pleased Stewart is getting another chance. Saw him a couple of times for Wroxham last season and was impressed with him. Also, in the brief glimpses in a Lynn shirt feel he can offer us something.

Was also impressed with Sonny Carey. Notice he trained with us towards end of the season. IC obviously saw enough to bring him here permanently.

Limb, I'm undecided about. Talent is clearly there (otherwise why would Burnley sign him?), but probably needs to come out of his shell more. Again, IC appears happy to have him at the club so who are we to disagree!?!

Is this being organised by / through the Friends of the Linnets?

No, they basically told Grissles to get on with it.
Helpful.
"Needs someone to organise it. Fancy it Grissles?"

I read that as them asking if Grissles wants to organise it? No telling him? Guess we read things differently.

Anyway, this is a good idea. How do we go about getting involved?

Good call Paul.  So thatís one we donít have to been concerned about.  Who is actually not on contract or whoís contract has expired ?

From memory (which isn't as good as it used to be!!)....I think Fryatt, Street, Henderson, McAuley, Jones, Clunan, Limb & Marriott all signed 2 year contracts.

Don't quote me on that though, as I have no doubt I've probably forgotten at least 1 and got at least 1 other wrong!!

Marriott under contract isn't he?

Signed a 2 year one when he signed.

You can sign players on contract now, but always thought non-contracted players can't actually sign for a club until the league forms are available (usually at the AGM).

Season ticket sales already 20% higher than last seasonís total with 2 months still to go - great value with adult seats just £ 13.80 per game a rise of just 80 pence and that does not take into account the free entry for U18ís etc and 10% discount in club shop #greatsupport Via the Chairman.

Good news thereís been an increase in sales. As Mallard said, gives Mr Cleeve a good boost going into the new season.

Gris, why donít you just buy a season ticket? Cleeve has posted on Facebook saying a much increased uptake and he says it works out at only 80p per game more than last season.  Surely even you canít moan at this; can you?

Last season because of work I only made four home games and the play offs, made more away games than home games, working on this premise it would equate to £72.50 a game,an increase of £59.50 a game? :bankrupt:

Why is admission price such a concern for you if you struggle to attend games?

Regardless of how many games I attend I am still allowed an opinion on the entry price? :dontknow: :banghead; :banghead;

Donít we know it! Shame nearly every thread is taken up by your views on admission increases.

The majority seem to have accepted its £15 and understand why. You donít, thatís fine. Canít we all just move on?

I will apologise in advance, if I offend anyone.......it is unusual for me to go off on one, but some of this negativity is tedious.....Given grants are available for much of the work it would surely be senseless to spend the money on that. Without someone like SC fans would never get to experience this standard of football and excitement. Left to its own devices the club could probably manage Eastern Counties or a step higher at best..... so if it ever should come crashing down you would be back to that level anyway. Given the amount of time and money the Chairman has put in together with the great efforts from all the people he employs, I really do feel its time for people's fears and anxieties to be put aside while this journey is happening.....just enjoy the fact that Lynn may actually progress and play at a really good level.
It seems to me, some people would be happy with a no risk strategy, play at step 6 in front of 200or 300 and just stagnate for a life time.....enjoy the local derby with Yarmouth and Swaffham and coiff the odd jar at half time, while moaning about everything that could be better and doing damn all about it

That is the scenario for an unprogressive large village/small town team I M O and sadly that reflects the mindset of many in West Norfolk...too afraid to stick their heads above the parapet and get things done and always unsettled by change......not surprised it has taken the energy of a number from outside the area, along with some very good, positive and dedicated local people to get things moving........

Good post. Totally agree.

Thatís the one Paul.  Not sure City will want to cash in on him though.  Think Farke seems to want to build something with the Youth there rather paying out big money wages on overseas imports.

Bit like ourselves with The Academy that is being introduced this year.

May not want to cash in on him, but a potential 6 figure fee for someone who hasn't even made his first team debut would be tempting.

Jefferson airplane, blimey thatís going back.
Maybe we will have an A Jones at Right back and a C Jones at left back. He wonít have to travel far up the A47 either.

Is that the same C Jones who 3 current Premier League clubs are interested in signing?

Entitled to compensation because he's under 24 and we offered him a new contract.

Griss do you ever stop winging?

I think you will find more people whinging about me than I do other people? Was it not a fact about Setch then? :dontknow:

People moan about you because you are Mr Negative, weíve just got promoted and for the last week itís just been constant complaints and swipes at the chairman.

New owner is always going to want pick his own man itís clear now that it was the right move and the chairman should be applauded for making it. What was unacceptable was the way Setch was treated the months after his dismissal.

Of course I moaned about the chairman, because the only way he see's to raise funds is out of the fans pocket! never ever any positive reports from the club about finance coming from elsewhere, not even got the now legendary three offers on the table for sponsors this season? I always wish the team well but if they don't hit the ground running and make an impact straight away then things could get worse! :argue:

3yr deal with the shirt sponsors wasnít it?

At the time sacking seemed very harsh. Turned out to be the right decision though.
