Linnets' Fans' Forum

Since my post yesterday re the club's website section Our People, it now says :This page can't be found.
Is that suspicious or just a gremlin at work? Will it show tomorrow Mr Cleeve back as chairman.....?

I see the club website has updated the Our People section, removing Mr Cleeve as chairman and showing Mr Bal Srai as Chief Executive Officer .

Agreed a new one-year deal to stay at Tamworth, BBC National League news report.

You can not divorce the way a club is run from the football side of it. The lack of financial prudence and the woeful infrastructure at Lynn over the years has quite clearly impacted what has happened on the field. For instance, the budget was clearly an issue when Mr Hughes was made manager and recruitment was not of the quality needed to sustain NLN standards, hence the relegation threat that followed. Mr Lakeland improved the squad but the financial fallout that has followed has been a price too high.
A well run club needs good sponsorship and a commercial department helping to provide the necessary funds to back player recruitment. Have Lynn had either of these consistently during Mr Cleeve's tenure?

I recall Keith breaking into the first ream alongside the likes of Reg Davies, Mick Wright, Malcolm Lindsay, Dave Brooks, David Clarke. Top players playing in what was regarded as the premier non-league, the old Southern League. He had an eye for goal, a languid style playing inside forward but probably not the quickest.
I think he was the first local lad to make the grade after the departure of goalkeeper Mick Manning in the early 1960s.
Keith is alongside Mick Wright and Malcolm Lindsay as true Lynn legends.

BBC Sport report he has been released by Stockport County.

I guess James Rowe will now be installed as manager.  If so, much for him to sort out in the next month on, presumably, a much tighter budget. Unfortunately, still many questions to be answered as to the future of the club in general.

Just read the story. Still more unanswered questions. Does this mean a U-turn on Adam Lakeland? What a way to run a football club! The saga goes on...

According to BBC National League news, Adam has been released by Boston. Jordan Richards has been offered a new contract. Boston going full time.

So many unanswered questions. I expect Trust members will receive a full report of what was said at the meeting and any proposals emerging from it.
I am mystified as to why and who sacked - if indeed he was sacked - Adam Lakeland. The man saved the club from relegation and turned the team into promotion candidates. I understand some fans were unhappy with the style of play at times but give the guy some credit, especially with what has quite clearly been going on off the pitch.
Has he made any public comments since his departure? He clearly knows the league inside out and should have no trouble finding another managerial role.
I guess the big lesson for who ever takes control of the club is don't exceed the budget. A return to a part-time playing squad seems inevitable.

I am Trust life member and have read the email. I don't want to go into all the details and can see there are a lot of unresolved issues to be thrashed out. But as Trust members we elect a committee to act on our behalf and therefore should show faith in them.  After all they want what is best for Lynn FC.
Mr Cleeve appears to be saying he can not provide the funds to keep the club going, hence the various appeals in the last 12 months.
Therefore the Trust is right to do its best to stop the club collapsing again. Apparently Mr Cleeve has never been prepared to allow the Trust to have any say in running the club.  In fact, I think I am right in saying there is not even a Supporters' Club.
I agree with some comments that it seems unlikely he will relinquish control easily but the one-man show model was always likely to fail unless that man has unlimited funds. Clubs at Lynn's level must have supporter input and a recognised board of directors to carry the burden of running the club.
It is a massive shame for Adam Lakeland and the players that this has all blown up while the team is trying to reach the playoffs. It must be a worry for them, after all it is their livelihoods on the line if the club goes under.

No, sorry, didn't enquire about anything virtual. But he did say he will reply to any queries from fans, either by email or in person at the press box on match days.

Just had a reply from Travis. Good news, match highlights will be available the day after a home game, starting this Saturday against Leamington. Apparently there has been a logistical issue which has now been resolved.

As it happens, I emailed Travis, the media man, yesterday to ask what has happened to match highlights. Will post when I get a reply.

He has joined newly promoted Mansfield on two-year deal.
