General Discussion / Re: New Kit
« on: July 12, 2021, 10:07:21 AM »
Certainly won't be claret and blue as the chairman is a Chelsea supporter (they also have 3 kits a season by the way), so no way will west Ham colours come into the equation.
In the good old days up to 10 years ago the club insisted on a home and change strip that were replaced every other year, home kit one year, change strip the next year. This was so that the supporters were not fleeced every season with 2 new strips but now 3 new strips.
I wonder what percentage of say 1000 supporters will actually buy all 3. My guess is that will be single figures.

According to the club statement with regard to tickets, TH ground services are looking after the pitch albeit on a temporary basis. :scarf: :scarf:
Th ground specialists were brought in to sort the pitch out pre season as they do for lots of clubs in East of England.
From what other clubs have told me that is as far as it goes. You still will need a groundsman for the day to day upkeep/cutting of the pitch and surrounding areas.

General Discussion / Help please
« on: June 30, 2021, 08:02:13 PM »
Today i had a phone call from the brother of someone that i have come across regularly in work life.
Unfortunately the reason that the brother contacted me was to say that his brother has the big C and he would like to know if anyone has a recording of the Kings Lynn v Tottenham game that was played at the Walks i would think in the 90s.
I can clearly remember Mick Hazard played for Spurs that day with his trademark socks around his ankles whereas the rule had come in to wear shin pads and socks worn below the knee.
If anyone please has any info on the above especially if there was a recording made of the game it would be very much appreciated.

In fairness B&G. As much as this level is new to the club on the field the same has to apply off it.

Clubs of long standing at this level have a full compliment of money spinners swelling the coffers.

Big monies coming in on Sponsorship deals. A fully up to speed commercial department and a Supporters Club sticking in decent amounts.  Just a few examples.

This will all take time for us to play catch up.
Mallard there was a superb Commercial department and supporters club 15 or so years ago but despite large sums raised the club still went tits up!

Hi Dazza, is July the 16th not before the possible next lifting of restictions which i work out as being the 19th unless there is serious drops in infection rate which doesn't look good at the moment.

One that springs to mind will be the ex Everton Coach that FOUND Wayne Rooney. Taken on at great expense and how many Wayne Rooneys or even Gordon Chilvers' did he find. Big fat zero.
In my time of supplying the kits the MANY times we were told as were the supporters that major sponsorship was coming in. Has that EVER happened. No. One season, SC's first, Double G sponsored the Reserves and then the first team when no other promised major deal was forthcoming. And i have the paperwork as to why Double G bailed them out that season.
Ask yourself everybody why we cannot get any of the major industries in King's Lynn and beyond on board. There are enough major companies on the Hardwick alone without having to venture further afield but not ONE will put their name on the front of a Lynn shirt. That is not being disrespectful of the away shirt sponsor!
Bespak were the last well before this regime and that was done by raffle ticket to which a young lady supporters name was the winning ticket. I believe she then was contacted by Bespak and they made a donation to a charity and subsequently Bespak went on the front of that particular shirt but they never followed that up after that season.
Nikki if you had all the programmes over the seasons and read the promises and false information you would realise what i mean. Unfortunately to many are wearing blinkers and hope that we are in the promised land. . They need to take the blinkers off and see the real deal. Not a pretty sight.

Hi Nikki. I have broad shoulders. When i post it is the truth rather than the bull**** that supporters are fed by the club. People though have short memories. If someone was to write a book about all that will be coming and happening to Lynn as in programme notes and podcasts in the past 4-5 years the book would have more pages than the Bible.
Whoever it is for training they must make sure they get their money!

A couple of great posts there Colin. Its nice to reminisce......also recall Lynn playing Boston United. Hillingdon Borough were another difficult opponent at the time but sadly they didnt fare quite so well

Also remember Bobby Laverick, although I was a small lad at the time I cried when Bobby decided to leave Kings Lynn. The point however regarding Bobby Laverick was that he lived in Vancouver Avenue.............please correct me if I am wrong but I was always under the impression that the football club owned the property together with several other houses in Kings Lynn to include a detached house in York Road where Malcolm Lindsay lived.

When were these properties purchased and could Lynn attract better players with the promise of living accommodation, part time work, whilst also receiving a wage for playing football? Did one or two players run pubs?
Kings Lynn definitely owned houses in the Vancouver Avenue/York Road area in the 60s. Malcolm Lindsay ran pubs after his football career including the Fenman opposite the station and also i believe the Bentinck on Loke Road. In later life he also did holiday cover around the area so that owners or managers could have a holiday. He also ran the White Horse at March.
Still keeps in touch on facebook.
Brian Jenkins took over Archie Missons newsagents on Loke Road which became part of Readwell. Brian and his wife moved to Chelmsford but i believe they are back in Kings Lynn. The legend that was Dick Everitt had the Anchor in the Friars are and also the White Swan in West Lynn

from seeing the news tonight it is said that although infections are up it is more the 20-29s who have not been vaccinated that are the problem. They then interviewed some cocky prat who thought he was super fit and if he caught it it would be alike to having a cold. If that is the general opinion of that age group then god help us. Some are worried if the vaccinbe will affect their fertility. If they get Covid they will have far more to worry about than whether they are fertile or not!
I also have no political persuasion but i am sorry to say that none of the leaders or there mps especially the shadow ones have a clue. Boris resembles a baboon in his swagger and on occassions acts like one to. Someone really needs to get a grip!
But hang on it will soon be holiday time for Parliament, perhaps covid will take a break also?

Gordon you could always kick start things by starting a few threads.   I’m sure you have plenty of thoughts to offer
[/quote
The first one would be where the training will take part for full time next season but on this occassion i will let the club announce it.
Don't think i was flavour of the month to announce the folding of the Reserves a couple of weeks ago!
