General Discussion / Re: Enjoy your FA Cup dayÖ.
« on: September 17, 2023, 09:07:11 AM »
It seems with posts on I he is not only alienating the local business community ( Match sponsors seemingly as rare as Rocking Horse manure) but judging by todayís attendance he is doing a fine job of doing the self same thing to the supporters.

One question.   Where does Stephen Cleeve and the Club go from here ,?

With around 50 years in business locally, Chilly has supplied hundreds of business's based in Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire (and further afield).

Due to the nature of the business he is in, he would have dealt with them on a repeat basis over the years.

These businnes's would not have continued to deal with him if they didn't think he was fair and honest when conducting business with them.

They also wouldn't deal with him if they didn't like him on a personal basis. Therefore, how do all these LOCAL business's feel when they see someone continually trying to drag a friends name and business through the mud? Not rocket science to understand that they are hardly likely to be knocking on the door offering sponsorship when they continually see such things on social media.

It's nice to see that it's understood that part of Chillys business is to sell shirts.

The important word here is "sell". Its not "give away".
Many thanks for the reply but it is actually 56 years of selling clothing within the whole of the UK that includes the NHS, RAF, Police Force, numerous clubs around the whole of the UK, last week kits to the Cotswolds etc etc. numerous kits that have been supplied by Double G have graced the Walks in the way of childrens matchday mascots. Are they now to be banned from being mascots if they are wearing such like?
I have never KNOWINGLY screwed anybody in my life and the price that i sell kits and every other type of clothing that we can supply  reflects in the fact that we are still going strong and have no thoughts of going away anytime soon.
HERE FOR THE LONG HAUL.

I notice that Mr Cleeve has two of the clubs, historically, biggest supporters in his sights today.

First and only response before solicitors meeting Monday. Yes SC the same solicitor still as you took the P**S out of their surname leading to your apologies in the past.
TRUTH. Stephen Cleeve and KLTFC did NOT stop buying kits from Double G. Double G on receipt of payment of £780 in the february 2018 (prior to the Joma contract ending in the April) for an invoice from the previous June 2017, the invoice being the cost of the printing and/or embroidery to the thousands of pounds of FREE kit supplied and paid for by Joma/DoubleG as part of the contract. The same invoice that for at least 6 months SC insisted he had paid but could not remember OR PROVE how he had paid!  On receipt after me threatening to go to the ENGLISH FA i immediately went to business partner within Double G and said we have received the overdue monies, I want out of KL,TFC. His words what when the contract expires, my words no immediate, today and since that day DOUBLE G have refused to supply KLTFC subsequently there being the same balance of £0.00 outstanding as there was after eventual payment.
Now call me a LIAR again. More ammunition!

As for M A Hill no not in modern times but when i first went from 1962 there were hundreds of kids without parents or guardians. I have NEVER been to a football match with my parents.

Gordon, that's fair enough, but in 1962 you were already 23!

 :laughcry: :laughcry: :laughcry:
Ha bloody ha! Now ban me for swearing. LOL.

...........have withdrawn from the Thurlow Nunn Premier League (step 5).
How very sad. Some of the stories coming out of there are horrendous. Death threats, secret recording and videos of threats etc.
Chairman is a builder and has been trying for many years to get planning!

I suppose GC gripe wouldn't allow Kids For Quid either.

I am not griping, what i am saying is SC said he allowed 150 kids in FREE knowing that those kids had to be accompanied by at least 1 adult. Kids for a quid great idea but again they cannot come in alone unless accompanied.
As for M A Hill no not in modern times but when i first went from 1962 there were hundreds of kids without parents or guardians. I have NEVER been to a football match with my parents.
Re the academy, child signs but parents have to be with them to be able to attend at a minimum cost of £20ish per game.

Attendance comparisons are a minefield.  Which Club we play and at what time of the season can make things look better/worse.  Also SC said in his Prog notes that 150 kids took advantage of the offer for free admission on the opening day.

We always have this debate about the cost of admission compared to other Clubís.  Yes we are expensive but have been that way for several years now. So itís nothing new.  SC has shown previously that lowering the admission costs loses him even more money as the attendance figures do not go up enough to cover the reduction.

So basically the faithful are helping to pay for SCís hobby and his lack of nous where the Commercial side is concerned.
SC loves shooting himself in the foot. Allegedly 150 free children who cannot come in on their own so would have 1/2 parent with them to then put £150 overpriced adults into the ground that probably would not have come.
The same practice for the academy, the children are given SEASON TICKETS as part of their signing on. Again not allowed in on their own!!!!!!!
As for other posts about the 0000s that SC has invested. How much has he PERSONALLY invested from his bottomless pockets which are probably sewn up at the top!
As for the ex Linnet (Lee Hyde) trying to have a conversation with SC on saturday about the cup admission price to be told it was not his problem (SCs). If it is not his problem who's problem actually is it? The man is a walking disaster with the track recoird to match it!

It's fashionable these days to wipe out or deny history.  Mr Hill and his cohorts will be toppling Gordon's statue into the river next.  :laughcry:
Please give me notice to find my armbands, sadly i cannot swim!

Well thatís interesting never thought of that one ,letís get one thing straight I have nothing against Gordon what I donít like his constant knocking the Club I appreciate what he did in the past but we need to move on I know everything at the club isnít at its best but itís what we have at the moment and yes it could be improved IMO The chairman is trying to do everything his self and he really needs help in running the club but heís a one man band and at times he his is own worst enemy but his heart is in our club so letís cut the man a little slack and come up with ideas to help in improving the running the club
Why are you so frightened of the TRUTH Malcolm. Why not interested in the history. In excess of 125 years of history involved. Has it ever been as bad as this? Apart from going skint of course. I was just handing over large sums of money, i had no influence where the money went/spent.
Or are you trying to erase your own historical efforts. Is that the problem?
Pity

Cheers for the reply to my questions GC.  Iíve got just one more.  May not be possible to answer but give it a go.

The amount raised back then with all of the different commercial enterprises.  If you had to put a figure on it in todayís £, shillings and pence, what numbers £ĎS would it equate to ?
Sorry but cannot answer that one as all paperwork stored safe and secure and not local. It was substantial as of the first £10K cheque to Colin Nichols then chairman (detailed in another thread). For those that are interested Double g Were first involved in player sponsorship firstly with the midfield battler from Grimsby, Steve Mcloughlin, followed by Chuck Martini, Darren Bloodworth, Charlie Defty etc.
then in 2001 a 5 figure sponsorship of the RESERVES commenced and lasted until the bankruptcy of the club.
Ikon introduced firstly Hummel kit followed by Joma to the club which Double G then took over the distribution and contracts.
The 1st team player FREE kit  supplied free of charge by Joma and Double G 50/50. The only items invoiced was the embroidery and print added to the garments.
20 outfield, home shirt, shorts and socks
20 outfield, away shirt shorts and socks
1 of each goalkeeper of everything home and away.
20 of each warm up shirt/shorts and socks
20 tracksuits
20 travel polo shirts
20 rainjackets/coats
20 kit bags
Management/coaching/ physio etc had 1 of each of everything as above except playing kit.
On top of the above DOUBLE G paid for exactly the same amount of garments as above for the Reserves team/managers/coaches and physios. On top of that the RESERVES NEVER paid for their embroidery and print requirements.
Joff and Jason, Robbie and Curly were also given training balls and any other requirements as and when required especially when refused by the hierachy.
Now you know the truth folks.

Who were the board back then, and who was the driving force on the Board ?
A while ago but Colin Nichols was chairman. The first management meeting i went to after taking over the club shop (february) and first major function (saturday night end of season soul night) started with a presentation cheque on the pitch for Lynn News photo, for £10K to Colin Nichols, the profits from 12 weeks of clubshop and the Soul night.
We then had a meeting in the B&G and when it came to any other business i asked for a page in the matchday programme for Clubshop merchandise, away travel and upcoming functions. To be told its top late to change the programme, to which i replied then no more £10K cheques. obviously i got my Supporters Club/Clubshop page in the programme.

Gordon Childers a sad bitter and twisted old man!
Just because Cleeves wouldnít buy the football kit of Gordonís sewing company

Totally wrong MJ. Hiding behind initials. Not getting your facts right. Not interested in the truth.
Me not sad, over the moon thanks, not bitter the past five years has been the best.
Nothing to do with SC not buying the kit from Double G. Sorry not a sewing company. He NEVER bought the kit. It was FREE (Thousands of pounds worth each season) jointly donated by Joma and Double G for the first team and totally paid for by Double G for the Reserves. Would you like to see a copy of the contract?
The real reason for bailing out was because the contract was about to end at the end of april and Double G would NOT be part of any new contract that cost SC NOTHING (apart from clubshop garments). Every other product was free!
Then there was an invoice that had not been paid but SC could not remember how it had been paid or when. As soon as that money was in the bank (february for a previous June invoice) we jumped ship, not KLTFC no longer needing their services.
SEVENTEEN years and multi thousands of sponsorship and multi thousands of pounds raised during that time. Walked away. Head held high. The truth and nothing but the truth.

GC. Who was responsible for bringing in all that revenue ?  It seems SC has had so many different people ( including himself) trying to pull in match day ( etc) revenue but no one seems to have cracked it.

Any thoughts as to why ?
John Fincham, superb commercial manager, alongside manager at Barclays. Who and what that man did not know wasn't worth knowing.
Peter Langford ex businessman also on commercial
Brian Nelson ALWAYS sold out EVERY match sponsorship before the season even started.
Management Team answerable to the board
Supporters club, myself and Steve Hooks
Clubshop originally Colin Bruce (Stratfords) and Kevin Chase then under the supporters club banner. Myself and Kevin. Made substantially bigger with a large product range visited by, AFC Wimbledon, Peterborough Utd and Cambridge United for ideas for THEIR clubshops.
End of season marquee functions, friday night sit down dinner and Sportsman nights 400 people. Saturday night hosted by myself, soul music nights again totally sold out 400 people.
One of the sundays (again my tenure) was a SOUL ALL DAYER with DJs from the likes of Wigan Casino, etc. Other seasons predominantly end of season player presentation awards on the sudays
Away travel supporters club, minimum 1 mini bus, occassionally two, myself driving one and if 2 then Trevor Defty (jacks dad) driving the other or full size coaches with drivers.
At least bi monthly evening events in the Blue and Gold along with Quizzes etc. The B&G averaged 3 nights MINIMUM booked weekly with 200+ present regularly.
100 club paid out £100 winner at EVERY home game, Supporters Club
Bonus Ball , Supporters Club.
Christmas supporters lunches, sold out year after year with Kevin Chase and cooked by the legend Les Phelp. R.I.P
where do you want me to stop.

Still early days but this game should give us a steer as to to where we are at. At face value a draw would be considered positive and a step in the right direction?

As for match sponsors being sought at the eleventh hour: why am i not surprised. I am old enough to recall a time when match sponsors were on board well ahead of the games, where most players were sponsored by early in the season and when off field commercial activity and fund raising was on going throughout the year.

I wonder what went wrong?!
,
Every game sponsored BEFORE the start of the season started. Interesting pre season games, Player sponsorship-full. Match ball sponsorship-full. Supporters Club, 100 club,(£100 winner EVERY home game), Away Travel every game, Superb clubshop, regular functions, end of season 3 days/nights of marquee events, Function room booked out an average of 3 nights a week, end of season presentation nights. Oh sorry that was pre Cleeve when the locals wanted to sponsor and got value for their sponsorship.

I personally donít consider him the most talented player in the clubÖÖ.I would say he has the potential to play higherÖÖbut then so have a few.

Football from a results business is about scoring and preventing opponents scoring. Lynn play some lovely attractive football, but currently arenít great when it comes to scoring and preventing opponents scoring. So far averaging a goal a game and conceding 2 a game.

In an attacking sense Lynn have lots of players with potential who play pretty football, but Lynn donít seem to have anyone who can convert a decent ratio of clear cut chances and has a reliable end product. Maybe the new additions who are starting to get game time can snatch a place or two on merit.

Hughes the manager, compared JB to Nick Haughton a few months agoÖ.thing is Haughton was top scorer in the NL last year.

So far this season, if memory serves:

                                        Starts.    Subs.         Goals

Stephens                            3.                             0
Ponticelli.                            3.                             2
Barrett.                               3.                             0

Fatjado.                                            1.               1
Bartley.                                             3.               0
Royle.                                 0.            0.              0

I don't believe your stats are correct with regards to Barrett.
Charlie Royle? how many minutes has he had in the past 7 weeks. What a waste.
