General Discussion / Re: Goaless draw on the Road for Linnets.

A scrappy game all in all.

King's Lynn were very lucky to escape with a point. Fairly solid at the back and largely uninspiring in attack.

General Discussion / What a disappointment...
« on: September 16, 2023, 07:32:19 PM »
I don't know what is happening to our club. Last year I watched them smash Telford away at the start of the season. Telford were saying we were automatically going to go up. We get convincingly battered in the playoff semi by a team we beat last season in the league, with a manager who reminded me of Gareth Southgate in the Euro final, simply waiting for something happen rather than making something happen.

I despair at how we have fallen. Were we simply punching above our weight? For starters, after watching the playoff, I was never convinced by the manager. I don't want to jump on the 'manager out' bandwagon, however,  he is responsible for buying players, coaching them and motivating them.

Where do KLTFC go from here to resurrect our fall from grace, even at this early stage of the season? Discuss...

For me, the playoff failure was telling. Hughes didn't seem to have much clue, either tactically or how to prevent the slump becoming worse. I fear he is another Clark.

Now the dust has settled on a disappointing playoff, are there any rumours on our next manager or player movements? I hope we retain the core of what has been a successful squad

Wow! I travelled 250 miles to watch my beloved Linnets.

That was the worst game I have ever seen them play. By dominating the league for the best part of a season, they are obviously a very good team. However, they looked completely spooked from minute one. Coulson had an absolute shocker and typified the performance.

I don't rate the back 3/5 formation, especially when playing at home in front of a large crowd. The team has no pace and in this game had no composure. Only Dixon-Hodge and Stephens looked remotely good. Aaron Jones looked like a square peg at left wing back. Oxlade-Chamberlain looked average, as did Barrett and a surprisingly anonymous Omatayo.

The Linnets need to settle on a 4-3-3 next season and get some pace on the flanks. Olly Scott looks a big miss.

Oh well, next season beckons and the squad needs strengthening at CB and on the flanks, preferably with some pace!

King's Lynn looked disjointed with their 3-4-3 formation. They basically played without a right back. Aaron Jones looked promising when he came on to fill the void. A well worked move in the box led to the Linnets' opener. However, Gloucester looked good for the win.

Hopefully a better performance at Doncaster next weekend will see us pull off a shock and progress to round two.

COYL!
