Written press in with IC quicker than usual yesterday with Bevan unable to gain access back into the ground as the small entry point at the back of the terrace stand secured. I was still in the commentary area rounding up for Radio Norfolk so I also missed manager interview. Apologies.

Tony has put thing's very well about this evening.

The format will be relaxed with an informal chat about the past, present and future with some questions from the floor to round the evening off.

Will be nice to see a few of you down later.

An extract from my programme notes dated Aug 6th 2019.

'........ after the bad start it was a task to bring back the floaters , but the trickle gained momentum and eventually we were not far away from previous season's numbers. As ever, the play offs were well supported but the club has to be looking at a figure of around 750 - 800 as a minimum for most games this season..... '

In no part of the article have I ever said this was a break even figure etc. It was my thoughts on what kind of gates IMO the level of football should attract , nothing to do with finances, budgets. Happily at the moment we are above the figures I have said here. However how that stands us in relation to our financial position at present  I have no idea - that's not my area.

At the top of the article it also states ' takes a personal look forward... ' hopefully this post has made clear this part of this thread.

We will be selling tickets for this event ahead of the game on Saturday. Tickets need to be purchased ahead of the evening so we know numbers for food. It promises to be a great evening and the kind of event that many asked the club to host after the clubroom was decorated and rebranded.

Still waiting for a confirmation from our hon secretary on this. However quite sure that the game will be played at The Fenland Stadium,  Wisbech as they are now not playing. Once I know I will release details.

A clarification of the parking arrangements:

The permit covers ONLY the front car park and NOT the back one.

A map was enclosed with the paperwork when the passes were issued showing the areas which were ok to be used.

A very tough draw for us that. A  good team who trimmed us up in the FA Trophy a few seasons back. Can confirm surface ( when we visited) was very good despite it being a wet day.

Mallard. I cannot comment on the pledge from the trust as I don't  know is the answer to that one.
This isn't the major announcement that Stephen has talked about in the past.
The club had planned to make an announcement when all the loose ends had been tied up - there are still a few bits that need completing.  We didn't give the story to the YLP is all I will say - I was rung for a few quotes on Wednesday afternoon to add to what they already had......
It's not a problem coming here and clearing a few things up when I can. We're all in this together as we want what's best for the club. at the end of the day.

The club will be making an announcement on this development over the weekend.

A point of clarification though is that the grant was awarded by the football stadia improvement fund and not the national lottery as stated here. Maybe B & G you saw the words national league and misread?!! No worries,  Its great news for the club.

Stephen made initial comments about the possibility of an academy not running in his Alfreton Town programme notes on September 3rd. From my end I've been waiting for clarification on a few points before putting something together. I like to be aware of the full details of any situation before saying anything!

Just a few pointers on this situation.

Numbers of students were low in the first place. Then half of the potential students failed to gain the grades required to enter the course. The club were then informed by the education provider on the Saturday ahead of the scheduled start on the Tuesday that the course would not be able to run as the numbers were now too low. As soon as this was known attempts were made to contact parents to inform them. The mother of the student who did arrive on the day had changed her contact details after initial enrolment and had not informed the club.

The club are very disappointed with the situation as a lot of time, effort and money had been invested by the chairman, Backie and Ian who had agreed to provide the football coaching.

Other avenues are already being explored in relation to this matter and there will be further news in due course.
