Report suggests a budding centre half

Good reality check...some similar sums being raised for other clubs in conf north......this is the level's not about the odd hundred here and there its about significantly bigger sums. This is a league Lynn deserve to be in and it does require a change in mentality.

Would be very surprised if a player was prepared to come directly from Championship to step2 non league. Not sure either that Lynn would benefit from that type of player. Would expect us to be looking at ex pros from the likes of Lincoln, Peterborough, Cambridge United, with hopefully a couple of Norwich loanees too.

They also had Joe Jordan, Jack Charlton, Terry Cooper , Paul Madeley...not many cultured feet amongst that lot...(bit of finesse from Giles, Clarke and Lorimer).....but then they were the days of heavy northern pitches, heavy balls and legitimate sliding tackles and flailing arms...its a different game these days..even in Conference North !

Great, after all the input, things are really starting to build.

I lived in Leeds in the early 80's and went to Elland Road a number of times in the season they got relegated.....I especially remember them losing at home to Liverpool .......some of their 'fans'.........'nasty' and 'vicious' wouldn't cover it. A nil nil home draw v Middlesbrough the same season is the worst 90 mins I have ever seen anywhere.

Would be nice if that did happen .....and speaking from a position of being pro Trust myself. At the mo tho it appears larger scale finance will be required pronto, so hoping for significant Commercial sponsorship, possibly someone else to join SC at the helm and certainly 1000-1200 most home games at The Walks

Nice reply, Tony thanks for that.
It's not that I don't see the points you make or the reasoning behind them.....and I know the welfare of the club is really important to all of us and we dearly hope the accounts can be balanced along the way. It seems to me though, that we have gone beyond a "shall we, shan't we" tipping point in terms of getting right behind what is going on. Step 2, with the set up currently in place in terms of squad, manager, groundstaff etc, its as good as I can remember (which is longer than I would care to admit).it has taken a huge input on so many levels to pull the club up to where it is now...if sufficient backing can be found...what an opportunity from here...and already the memories of the last couple of years will live long
If it doesn't all work out from this point, then we as fans are fairly powerless to do anything about it anyway, so while we may have a cautionary glance at the figures from time to time, maybe we owe it to ourselves to fully enjoy and embrace what is happening and back up those who are striving hard to achieve...... what's to loose by remaining positive.

I will apologise in advance, if I offend is unusual for me to go off on one, but some of this negativity is tedious.....Given grants are available for much of the work it would surely be senseless to spend the money on that. Without someone like SC fans would never get to experience this standard of football and excitement. Left to its own devices the club could probably manage Eastern Counties or a step higher at best..... so if it ever should come crashing down you would be back to that level anyway. Given the amount of time and money the Chairman has put in together with the great efforts from all the people he employs, I really do feel its time for people's fears and anxieties to be put aside while this journey is happening.....just enjoy the fact that Lynn may actually progress and play at a really good level.
It seems to me, some people would be happy with a no risk strategy, play at step 6 in front of 200or 300 and just stagnate for a life time.....enjoy the local derby with Yarmouth and Swaffham and coiff the odd jar at half time, while moaning about everything that could be better and doing damn all about it

That is the scenario for an unprogressive large village/small town team I M O and sadly that reflects the mindset of many in West Norfolk...too afraid to stick their heads above the parapet and get things done and always unsettled by change......not surprised it has taken the energy of a number from outside the area, along with some very good, positive and dedicated local people to get things moving........

As already said, hopefully not as grants are available from the FA for a large proportion of the work.

Team should do well and so crowds will be there...the likes of York City, Chester, Darlington, Hereford should provide enough interest for crowds to be well up on last year.

There is an additional cost to the bar that hasn't been mentioned and that's the policing and stewarding of potential unruly behaviour. Instead of 50 or so away fans , on regular occasions there could be 100-250. Lynn fans don't have an unblemished record themselves .
Think I would be looking to improve the food, hot drinks, soups and  and light drinks and yes improve the atmosphere, maybe have soccer on the stance would be, that if people want to drink alcohol they can go to the pub after the match and talk over the game. For the vast majority of the season I am wanting something warm to eat and drink to be honest.

Hopefully those costs will be mainly covered by grants from the FA

Would be good if they were able to compete for promotion, but I guess this conversation has been had reserve teams can't compete above a certain level and any name / team structure change requires possibly dropping lower before climbing. Will be interesting to see how things pan out once The Academy is up and running.

How do people see the Reserves fitting into the scheme of things, I 4 steps between them and first team and with no prospect of promotion unless there is a name change ?
