General Discussion / Reserves
« on: May 22, 2019, 02:25:42 PM »
How do people see the Reserves fitting into the scheme of things, I wonder......now 4 steps between them and first team and with no prospect of promotion unless there is a name change ?

Is it a quiet day on the Ranch Stan ?

Have a feeling we might be seeing a couple players coming in from a Premier League Club.  The letter J is what Ive heard from the top. These things can change though.

You little tease Mallard....Premier Premier or Conference Premier  ?

Thanks Mallard re Kerins answer.
Re Pedro......think it depends partly on the budget and partly on the confidence/potential of Congreve. Feel we need a young capable person in the background as 2nd keeper...the league will be physical....if Pedro gets injured or sent off we need someone who can fill in for a few games without weakening the defence significantly......someone who can grow into the role and develop as a solid number two.

Honestly, what a thread !
Personally don't think anyone has done anything worthy of Hall of Fame in recent years.....wait a couple of years tho and you could be in business if some of the current squad/management/owner continue in the same vein.
Not really a time to look at past management given the wonderful season just gone ...surely

Would like to see Peds, Barrow, FBT, Jones, McAuley, Fryatt, Clunan, Hendo, Gash , Marriott and Richards all stay...
I have a hunch Limb will be kept on....Jarvis...I think it may be his decision either way. Think we need at least one hard tackling defensive midfielder, an additional centre half (Tom Ward?) and another forward with a proven track record at this level. Liked Hawkins when he was at it...again not sure re him...hope stays and proves his potential.

Ah don't knock it Mallard  the press are itching to write about The Linnets...great for it to be like that....and I suspect some agreement between the clubs will happen.

Application needs to go in for that obviously...includes turnstiles, fencing, partitioning etc.....thanks for the link WLM

Kettering appear to have set their prices at 15 for next season. Given the extra travelling Lynn will do, 16/17 might be likely (?)

Would a possible compromise be to bring back a grandstand charge?

13 general admission
15/16 for a seat.

Think it might need to be 14-15 gen admission and 16/17/18 for a seat

I would just like to say, in the interests of balance, since there is already too much doom and gloom on here, that although there need to be some serious marketing initiatives and sponsorhips, I actually believe the squad (with two or three additions) will do well at step 2. I expect them to be top half, though scraping into the play offs is probably expecting too much and the club presumably wouldn't be ready for back to back promotions on many levels. However, Slough have managed something similar.( ie comfortably top half) in their first year back at step 2.
It's really important for Lynn to be competitive for the crowds to be at an improved level on the year just gone and with S C and IC at the helm I am sure they wiil be. That being the case, I can see crowds of 850-1,000 being the norm, with 1200-1500 when the larger clubs come to town. I would think around 750 Lynn fans and a minimum of 100 away support for the 'smaller' games.
Really important for Lynn to start well....bound to be decent sized home crowds for the first few home games and important yo keep the interest and momentum going.
Personally think 15 or 16 would be reasonable without hopefully being out if the reach of many. It is the town's club....really home the town embraces this special time in the club's history and supports it in every way it possibly can . Step 2, with a high calibre manager and a talented, confident squad......has there been a better time to be a Lynn supporter ?

Yes the Chairman has presided over two great seasons....a fitting reward for his endeavour and input.
