Can't agree with what KES80: that Kettering are a good side?
That it was a good point in the circumstances, primarily
Secondly, my view is that the gap between Kett and Stour and Lynn is more to do with Lynn than the other two's great achievements.

Can't agree with your earlier post Stan.Kettering on paper are no stronger, but of course they had a decent start to the season  and Lynn did not.
Lynn seem to be making hard work of things at the moment....going in at half time at 2-1 and with 45 mins against 10 men coming up, I would have thought a draw scraped in the last minute of play would have been the very least that would be hoped for.

Exactly....the goal return from all the forwards in a fairly weak league is just poor......Lynn need a couple of 20 goal a season men....simply not enough goals being scored.Last 2 games sum it goal scored from plenty of possession, one by centre half, one by midfielder (who once again is almost top scorer) and no goals from forwards and then other team gradually grows into game and equalises.
I am sure IC realises Bedworth was not a one-off and changes to the system will result

Absolutely beat me to the post !
This was a real chance to close the gap and actually have a realistic chance of catching the top two in the New Year. Seven points behind with say 18 games to on !
But they fluffed their lines and after that awful start will there be another chance this season. Maybe we will just be in the play offs and then turn it on over the last 3 matches ?!

Agree with you Stan re fluidity....would be nice to have a third striker who could come on to provide more of that if plan A wasn't working. Gash remains a quality player at this level and one of the first names on the teamsheet...but good to have options re style of play.Best Lynn attack I recall was Ready , Coupe and Twigger....real fluidity and pace .there....and a hatful of goals. In terms of such fluidity, I guess the other Cameron going to Halifax is a big miss.

Hi Birch...we are on the same page....."few of his quality" ie not many,...... rather than "a few". I agree with your sentiments.

Fair point Stan, but we don't have Norman any more and there are few of his calibre in this league. Having got the early breakthrough from a good start (a feature last season under I C) it was surprising that Lynn failed to capitalise.......largely due to poor finishing........not for the first time at the Walks this the top of my head, home form is something like Pl 8 W2 D4 L2 F8 A7 excluding home defeats to Buxton and Ashton in the cup.Seems Lynn really need one of Limb/Frohawk/A another to step up to supplement the forward line (?)

A lot of positives in recent weeks, but if Lynn want to become a really good side and have real success then significant improvements still need to be made. This league is not particularly strong with only 3/4 strong contenders for promotion and Bedworth are right at the bottom of this league. Lynn don't seem to have a ruthlessness about them....and seem to be missing loads of chances most games. If they are in the hunt early next year they will surely need to strengthen in order to have a chance of winning three playoffs and then being able to compete at step 2

Once again failed to deliver in front of a good crowd. Taking chances at The Walks seems to be a recurring problem.
Bedworth are a bit of a bogey team and in the wider scheme of things this result may not be too serious as Kettering probably won the title while Lynn were still getting themselves ready for the season.Lynn are still around the top 5, but Stourbridge has to be the target now and a chance missed as they dropped points today

Surprised that some think the Chairman's ambitions have changed...suspect their posts reflect their own lack of ambition rather than his IMHO.

Would have thought given all the upheaval in recent weeks that consistent performances with the same squad personnel is the key....if the budget allows and we are pushing for a play off place in Jan/Feb, then maybe a few new players wouldn't go amiss.

What a win last night....  But has that now given the Chairman a massive problem ?

No. His aim is to get several promotions so he needs to appoint someone with the credentials and contacts to do that. Beating a team 2 steps lower by 7 is hardly worthy of League 2 football is it ?l

Some really valid points already made.

One thing stands out for me over the last 40 years and that is Lynn's inability to ever build on a good season/seasons. There never seems to be a long term plan with reliable and committed personnel at the helm.....and he we go again , one decent season and then back to a rebuild again. Just look at he other play off teams from last year at the start of this season.

Hereford pl 4  10pts 2nd in Conf North
Slough    pl 4    7pts Top half Conf South
Weymouth pl2  6pts
Kettering    pl2  6pts

All off to more than decent starts and building on last year.
I know some Lynn fans are too quick to dish out the doom and gloom, but ...............
