Really hope we are not doing it on that basis. In recent times our friendlies have been pretty poor .

Still think his partnership with McCauley was the best we have had at centre half in recent times.

Sadly neither of them are quite good enough for NL IMHO.

General Discussion / Squad 21/22
« on: May 31, 2021, 02:21:46 PM »
Just a bit of fun, as only IC's choices and views matter but :

On the basis of needing at least 2 players for each position I would go for :

Richardson, Denton, Barrows,Callan-McFadden, Fleming, Richards, Coleman, Nash, Carey, Gyasi, Jackson........that makes eleven. Deliberating over 4 more...ie

Jones, King, Southwell, Kiwomya.

Would include the first two if definitely fit. Feel Southwell could make it, but believe (and could be wrong) that his current contract is expensive compared to what is now available and dont believe he would be in my starting eleven.
Kiwomya a bit if an enigma to me...started well and then seemed to tail off...a bit worried that he and King are a little lightweight for this league.

So I would be looking for a new first choice keeper, two 6ft 3 central defenders with EFL experience, a new right back (Cameron ?), another left back, another midfielder or two and two or 3 NL standard forwards.....total squad 22/23 in number

All the pre season games need to be a good workout given we will have a completely new squad...pointless playing anyone other than EFL, NL and NLN/S.......we need to hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Hopefully, the next 2/3 weeks will offer clarity as to where we are all going ...or not going. This half way business is tough.......full lockdown, know where you are for a few months, fully open, know exactly where you are and can push forward.........in the middle as we are now.....just anyone's best guess, which makes planning and investing in the future a perilous game.

Glad it finished like that. Lynn haven't been able to buy a win recently and needed to score 5 to win today.
Versus Wrexham, it was 6..................one word stands out...DEFENCE.........98 goals conceded, around 50 scored from 42 games.

I think the club has reached a point where enough is enough. It really can't afford to continue to be saddled with a minority who always seem to think they are above the law.
The club have flirted with taking firm action in the past, but the club has taken on a huge loan and been given some very generous one off donations to help keep it going....it can ill afford fines or reduction in match day income due to poor behaviour. Time for someone at the helm to get a grip.

With Lynn having gone up through the leagues, it necessitates increased awareness everywhere as the club are in the spotlight now. It is encumbant on everyone, including the fans to up their game...

I don't think Southwell will be happy playing second fiddle again and may leave.......think I would then def consider Jackson as one of the backups/ first change strikers
