That's a gross oversimplification because even at step 2 teams will resort to route one when that's the most effective have then by passed your slick midfielders and then its just about can your defenders either hold the attackers up waiting for support or win the ball outright.
You can't always expect Street to pull off the vital saves he did on numerous occasions last season especially now he is facing a higher calibre of forward.
Last year Lynn had Robinson as a back up. This year currently there appears to be no back up centre half in the event of injuries or suspensions or games where we might just need additional height at the back.
Therefore it seems logical Lynn  need a further back up defender.
If you were at the Warrington game, you will doubtless realise that for much of the second half, Warrington' s tactics stifled our natural passing game and midfield influence.
Some teams this season will let Lynn play because they believe they can outplay Lynn at their own game, others will look to stifle and impose a different style.Lynn need to be able to adapt to both situations.

Yes but you do have to be able to defend solidly and win the ball in the first place otherwise your slick midfielders won't get a touch ..... possession is key, slickness comes after

I am really enjoying trawling around the various websites for the teams in National North. Many have a couple of 27/28 year old forwards with past league experience. Am thinking that Lynn could do with another body to back up our centre halves.

Having a busy time with transfers, including 2 new forwards I see.

Yes , all laudable. I was really referring to Commercial Sponsorships....hopefully we will hear some news soon. I have just read that Elgoods are sponsoring Kettering's TV coverage  again this year. It occurs to me, that with the current Wisbech connection on the Elgoods Stadium  maybe there is a deal to be done with such local breweries in return perhaps for selling their products in the football bar ?

Disappointing  Academy numbers......I happened to see that Alvechurch had 150 turn up for their U18-21 Academy trials and had to extend the event to run over two days. Obviously their catchment area is vastly diff, but I wonder what they are doing that is drawing them in

Suspect that might be it for friendlies ...quite a "fair few". Majority of them away for a reason I guess.

It seems to be the way many are moving forward. I see it more of a long term thing and not a whim. I would have thought (if its not already being done) that some scouting should be done at the local schools and colleges. I can remember when I was at KES there would be scouts at our matches (can remember a Norfolk schools guy and a guy from Peterboro) in attendance looking at one or two of our guys when we were at home to Boston Grammar.

Sorry Mallard, your post makes much more sense in the light of the 2nd pitch...apologies for my aware of the facilities at Dereham....pleasantly surprised that Wisbech have something similar.....presumably someone has asked the council on the viability of a training area in the Walks just outside of the ground

Aha apologies.
Suppose that's a possible but if their pitch is being used once or twice every week for matches, plus Wisbech training on it, I wouldn't have thought it would take Lynn training on it also.
Quite surprised Lynn Ressies might use on  Friday and then Wisbech day after.

Nope wouldn't have thought so ...IC has limited time and will need to devote it to 1st team and Academy. As far as I am aware he doesn't get involved with Reserves...why would he ? Think you are misreading the purpose of Reserves playing at Wisbech Mallard my friend.
