General Discussion / Re: Gloucester
« on: December 15, 2019, 09:40:48 PM »
It's a post that suggests we will have a strong eleven for the next match, but maybe be a bit light on subs , which then begs questions about potentially getting loanees back etc as picked up by subsequent posters. This point about numbers has been touched on in on other threads and by IC at the end of the Dover game when talking to the media.
Simply if Lynn can bring someone back or use a ressie or (and I doubt this would be possible) bring someone in on loan, then decisions have to made very soon...not next Saturday....hence me bringing it up so soon after the Dover clash.
Hopefully the two get over the virus quickly and some of the other injuries clear up so that there are reasonable numbers available in the squad over the holiday period.

General Discussion / Re: Mick Wright

As many do,  I feel very strongly about this. There should be a permanent legacy for Mick and it should represent the whole town.
I feel I want to write to The Executive Director, who is responsible for Sports Facilities  at KL&WNBC in a very professional and pleasant manner and state that whilst I understand that the council had it's own reasons for not being able to offer "Freeman status", that is actually seen as a huge faux pas by many in the town.
The football club is booming, attracting on average over 1,000 people to every home match and sitting top of the league following promotion last year. What it could desperately do with is some decent training facilities in addition to the ground.......as many other councils have already provided for teams of Lynn's standard or below.
Could the council not remedy the situation on both fronts by providing the required facility and naming it after Mick, so that the association with the club is there for all to see ?

It strikes me that this Forum has a large audience of like minded people, which is not available elsewhere.
Are we somehow able to get a long list of signatures at the end of the letter ?.... can we get round the issue of identities being exposed on The Forum.?.....do we instead do it by petition, that everyone signs?    I am not sure of quite the best way forward, but feel we have a great opportunity to "encourage" something to be done for a leading man in our club.

'Mr King's Lynn' indeed.
The council missed a wonderful opportunity to honour the man. Maybe they will put in a grant application for a new ground or at the very least a training centre for the club and name the new building after him.

I am sure the club themselves will also honour his remarkable playing career and loyalty to the club in a meaningful and long standing way.

I see York are getting slightly edgey and realising that their "grind out" a result style, might not be enough in the face of The Linnets' refreshing free-flowing style.
Steve Watson is saying their 2 week break is very important to help them see what more/different may be required ( new signings ?)

I should just try and ignore the comments Steve, you can't do any more in the current circumstances......this autumn's rainfall is just something else. Whilst Hereford have the money to produce a carpet, further improvements are still needed at The Walks. Anyone moaning should take a look at Kettering's pitch, likened to The Somme, by some, at the weekend.

Looking at Blyth's recent highlights they look dangerous going forward(obviously especially the ex Newcastle chap on the right) and prone to being overpowered at the back. (Very evident re Kettering).
I am guessing Lynn has had the heavy rain today that Norwich experienced, so another heavy old pitch.
Think Gashy will be more than useful tomorrow.

Thanks for posting the article Stan......I don't see quite as many holes in it as my 'alter ego'.  I think a good part of it makes sense actually. Not only would it help clubs at lower leagues, it might actually make each league more competitive by devolving wealth downwards eg The Premier League which effectively has 3 leagues in one due to club wealth issues at the moment.

This country needs a "sea change" in thinking and there needs to be some social responsibility across the board.....this dog eat dog mentality and trying to always be one up on one's neighbour, is sad, waring and ultimately very damaging for mankind in general IMO.
That of course excludes football, where it's imperative that Lynn are" one up" on York for the rest of the season. Actually I have a hunch that the biggest threats will be Chester and Brackley, at the sharp end of the season.
Anyway, come on Hereford this evening, pull something out of the bag for us !!!
