General Discussion / Re: Dumb and Dumber

I don't know enough re The Articles of the NL and the Constitution of the Board. Is it possible for the clubs as members, to rally together with a vote of no confidence in the Board. ?

I suspect it needs to come from a higher direction, but either the FA or the Government need to intervene, to set up something new, fresh and workable that has strict financial and ethical regs....a limit needs to be set for each league in terms of player numbers per team, individual salaries and total club salaries and it needs to represent a huge cut on what is currently allowed, for the good of the game

I don't understand why Lynn ate still playing, if they can't afford to.

Teams in step below are refusing to play until things are resolved :dontknow:

Should be part of the review of football as a whole, starting with the NL tiers and working up and down, with ministers and shadow ministers involved in the decision process, since it is government money/ loans which has kept and potential will, keep the circus rolling

Some real good could come out of this mess.

I sense that the NL Board's position may become untenable before long.

The government are not best pleased with the way funding was allocated and an Independent Report has been swept under the table, much to the disgust of those producing it. There is a sense that big change is required in the way the leagues are run.

Should the clubs round on the Board en masse, I think a huge change might not be too far off.

Just adds to the farce IMO.........bit late in the day....why the hell didn't they do it earlier.........the leagues might  be well over half way if they had. York for example, I believe have played something like 12 matches so far...so only another 30 to play. If we get going by mid Feb, that's 15 weeks till the end of May......so 2 matches a week, every week, allowing for no postponements at all........so it's already touch and go whether that's feasible.......add in any delays for the  many NLN clubs that will need grants to continue......... ..

Won't happen.

The Government has said it won't see clubs go the wall.

So it's important that clubs look after themselves until the results of the grants are known......so refuse to play till then as many clubs are doing. The weather will help with this......Tuesday' game is likely to be off due to snow /freezing pitch and its then a further week till the next scheduled game.

If the NL wants to continue after that it will be necessary for clubs to be able to field the same strength they have for the first half of the season.... otherwise it makes a mockery of the second half........so there will have to be grants for some or a decision from on high to just null and void......which is probably what needs to happen to put an end to all this bickering and in fighting between clubs. No one can claim they have a right to promotion when the season is still less than half played. The more games are played from now on the stronger the arguments for clubs positional rights.

That's where it's bad if you are full time, but maddening if you are part time, have taken time off work, have just arrived at the ground and then..........

Have to say this is utter madness. Steps one and two should simply be suspended until it's resolved.

I think Lynn, Dover etc will have to vote against Resolution 1.

Resolution 1 needs a majority of 75% to get through. If it fails then steps don't decide their own fate.....ie then both steps 1 and 2 continue or it is all null and void, depending on result of Resolution 4.

NLN and NLS votes are worth 4points per league and NL sides votes are worth 1 point each. Resolution 4 only needs over 50%to pass. So if NLN and NLS vote to  end season, that's 8 points, so would need Dover, Lynn and  6 more sides from NL to vote to end season and then everything would be null and void...(that's provided Resolution 1 fails)

Hopefully that's a fair summary.......bit of a head scratcher

I see that clubs have 28 days to vote....... hopefully everyone votes within a couple of days otherwise it will be chaotic.

What a complete bore...enough........I genuinely don't want to hear any more from this incompetent lot..........I need a two week suspension myself from tv radio, the internet news and this forum, just to preserve my sanity

Yes Mall.... don't know about you, but I've had a neck full of posturing and indecision....for goodness sake, someone at the NL have the balls to make a decision and stick with it....either commit to playing on, or shut the season down for good....how long can it take to announce a vote, count the votes and rubber stamp the decision.

Labour leader, Kier Starmer, will meet with representatives of some National League clubs & supporters groups.

The meeting will take place at 10am tomorrow via Zoom.

The meeting will discuss ‘how the Government can make the best decisions to support the National League.’

Will Captain Hindsight be able to help?    Surely is Tory MP’s they need to get onside.  Not the leader of the opposition who got their asses kicked 15 months  ago.?

Well as there truly isn't anyone amongst the current government with any real competance or connection to the life of the common man, maybe chatting to Starmer (who does tick both of those earlier mentioned areas) will be a very useful step....it might propel the debate to a high ministerial level very quickly.
