General Discussion / Re: Lynn Boss to give Lynn youth a chance.
« on: March 20, 2017, 03:27:52 PM »
Always is mate but I always knew we had a squad capable of top 5 and I'm so pleased to see you there coming through the ranks . We have many quality players in the area who are capable of joining the ranks just as long as Culverhouse is scouting properly. KEEP THE FAITH #YNWA #KLTFC   :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Good to hear!! I have never understood why certain of our 'supporters' have always written off local talent as not being good enough, when more often than not with the odd exception (Jack Defty) they have never been given the opportunity and encouragement to prove what they can do.

I would not necessarily say that some supporters have written off local talent but I would suggest most clubs find the same in just 1 or 2 maybe make the grade and thats good IMO...

Wouldn't it be interesting to see current league tables today if all clubs just used "local talent"!!....Would Chelsea be top?....Would the big clubs be in league positions they are today?....Just a thought....

It is good to see a local lad make it into the 1st team, but if we are to progress further up the football pyramid then it's more than likely we have to look elsewhere to get us there
Thats's football today!

General Discussion / Re: HITCHIN away
« on: February 26, 2017, 12:48:04 PM »
I went today and that "performance" was a complete shambles - think Weymouth at Home, then double it and times it by ten........and it still wasn't anywhere near as bad as today's "effort"

But for me, the blame doesn't lie with the new manager (or even the old one) it was the players who from one to eleven let the club down, the fans down, themselves down.

Hitchin are a decent side and I've always said that I can accept defeat, as losing is part of football - from the very top to the bottom.

However, what I cannot and will not accept is lack of effort and conviction - and those players today were embarrassing......only those of us who were unfortunate enough to be there will be able to emphasise just how bad they were.

In the Second Half, Steve Cleeve came and spoke with some of us fans - now I'm always sceptical of our chairman (until proven otherwise) but he didn't have to do that, I think he genuinely shared our pain today.

The one positive from today is that Ian Culverhouse will now see what he has inherited, it's a sharp wake up call for him - I did notice that pre match he spoke on the pitch to each player individually which seemed that little bit more professional.......but obviously didn't have any benefit in the long run!!
The warm up was slightly different too.

Next week vs Stratford will be interesting to say the least!!

Walks - I was also at the match. You say that Hitchin are a "decent side;" Hitchin are an excellent side! They have only lost two matches in the league since the end of August and are the best SPL team that have played at The Walks this season.

You state that the players lacked conviction and effort.

Setchell has been manager for  - what is it 7 years  - and the players clearly had a strong bond with Setchell - you can tell this by the way that his sides have played for him over the years. This strong manager/player connection cannot be underestimated. Lynn, a goal down within 2 minutes, away from home, to the best team in the league, with no: Quigley, Stevenson or Hawkins and with all the emotional turmoil of this week, looked shell-shocked and were torn apart by a step 2 challenging Hitchin.

The second half, despite conceding early on was much better. Lynn compressed the pitch and put much more pressure on the ball. In the first half, they gave Hitchin far too much time and space. Hitchin clearly had the game won and were probably not fully "at it" in the second half but Lynn clearly improved and Culverhouse was clearly giving them instructions on the pitch that were having a positive impact.

The team that played yesterday are probably 3/4 players short of being a team that can compete with the best in the SPL. Yes, they were poor for much of the game yesterday but these are human beings not machines and I defy anyone to be able to come out of a week like the one they've had at Lynn without being emotionally scathed.

They'll get over it and Culverhouse  (with the addition of 3/4 new players) will improve them.

Well said Stan.    :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Well its interesting to hear all these opinions and how they differ!!!........A friend of my who lives near Hitchin went to see the match and told me that KL were like "Rabbits in Headlights"!!.....They had a look of NO motivation and NO fight!....That is sad to hear!

General Discussion / Re: What A Game And What A Performance.
« on: January 25, 2017, 12:55:23 PM »
The value of the latest 3G technology was raised after the Redditch game and on balance it appears likely that our preferred passing game is better suited to an artivficial surface than to playing on natural pitches in mid winter but cost is a massive issue? As previously posted if the club decided that this was the way to go I wonder whether there would be Football Foundation(?) grants available if the project could be seen to be of benefit to the community also?

Good point Rod. Our passing game is a whole lot more risky at home...(and some away grounds). You almost have to have another skill in controlling the ball on bumpy pitches. Of course very few clubs have 3G so we are are kind of all in the same boat at the moment. But as you say "our preferred passing game would be more suited" if we had one at the walks.

Well done lads. Maybe our passing game is better suited to a 3G pitch?....Thoughts for the future.

But Adam, the negativity towards  Setchell surfaced after yesterday's game. No one was calling for his head a week ago, therefore  it was the result yesterday that triggered all the reactions which are overreactions in my view.
What do think about the rest of my post Adam? You seem to have focused on one small aspect of it. Does that mean that you agree with the rest of my comments? I have managed a lot of football teams over the years and I have seen these confidence crises many times before.

Do you not to talk to many supporters at games Stan? Many have been saying he should go for a long while now it's not been triggered just by yesterdays result.

I agree 30 year!....Its time for change...yesterday's result comfirms that IMO..

I think we do need new a new manager IMO..I have never seen so many players playing out of their natural position. What was the point of bringing them in then playing them in an different postion. Ryan Hawings playing through the middle ....Ridiclous|! :dontknow:

The worst EVER performance I can remember.
An utter shambles from start to finish.
Team selection was wrong.
Too many players playing out of position,
Ward and Fryatt on the bench.

Spot on and many people saying the same. An absolute shambles!...So many players out of their natural position equals disaster and it happened!....What the hell was Setch thinking???....Sorry but the bucks stops their!....I noticed a protest at half time

General Discussion / Re: Hitchin Tuesday Evening

For 80mins we were just dire & clueless. Hitchin Town were stronger, faster, and made us look like boys playing men IMO. We seem to have no firepower up front. And guess what!...YES same old hoof ball tactics most of the game to our (not very tall) that IMO is absolutely clueless.

Something needs to change Mr Setchell!!!...because plan A plan B plan C are not working you are just becoming another tinker-man!....Sort it because time is nearly run out and supporters will vote with their feet!

Sorry for the rant but that was just embarrassing to watch last night..(last 10 mins is when we gave it a go!!...NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

I would rather see Stevo concentrate on his game on the field!...I think that sometimes some players (in all sports) lose their concentration when made captain or assistant managers etc....
Yes! we need a good assistant manager (one with contacts would be a bonus!!) because at the moment there seems to be a lot of lost confidence on the field, and an ALLROUND general feeling of negativity.....Something needs to drastically change and damn quick in my opinion!

Just look at our league position!...high hopes pre-season!...

News of former Linnets / Re: Sam Mulready

Seems a lot of Ex Linnets....come good for other teams quickly after leaving KL....Mmmmmmmmm.....Makes you wonder why?

General Discussion / Re: Cirencester on Saturday
« on: October 10, 2016, 01:54:27 PM »
I can live with being beaten by a more skilful team, or because certain players were off form but not when the opposition seem 'to want it more'....The last three games for me have been like a sandwich made with stale bread but that which contained a prime cut of meat! After Alfreton I was proud of a team that gave 100% and on a different day might have won but that's football.

However K Langley and Cirencester - the less said the better and IMO the primary role of a football coach / manager is to motivate his players to always give of their best, individually and collectively but of course that does not mean always winning - it is the way you win, lose or draw that is important.....?

Hear Hear! on!

Listening to Gary's interview and his comments to Nick Bowler. Where he quotes " He has no idea why they seem to be up for it in one game and not in the next game and so on!"......Well that's for the manager to sort this out URGENTLY! Rod says above they have to be motivated for every game not have the mindset that just because it's lower opposition one week they don't seem to as motivated.

If this is the case GET RID of those that are creating this kind of lacklustre approach. We as supporters of KLTFC want 100% effort every game!!....

General Discussion / Re: CHAIRMANS NOTES PART TWO
« on: September 06, 2016, 05:49:52 PM »
With regards the lines, surely the referee and/or his assistants check them before the game? They've obviously been happy with them so far this season so personally I don't see it as an issue?

Fair point, but I have to say, they do look very poor.
Would it hurt to get the issue sorted before it does become a problem for the Officials?

Well IMO I can see it being a problem with the officials if the line markings get any less visible!...They are almost non-existent!!...How embarrassing would it be for the club and supporters if a game were called off for this reason? I really do hope this issue can be rectified quickly before it does become one

General Discussion / Re: Brigg Town today
« on: September 04, 2016, 08:07:53 AM »
Sorry Zebra. Just a little bit tetchy with Lynn "supporters" who have gone on a bit too much about price of drinks etc.
Thought the Brigg players worked hard and never gave up even when 5-0 down which added to the value of the game. Hope you had a safe journey back and good luck for the rest of the season

A good solid win. Of particular note was Hilliards perfect cross for the first goal, and Clunan's piledriver of a first goal. After that, it all started to become a bit academic. Shame they weren't able to keep a clean sheet because they switched off at a corner.

I was just about to start a "New Thread" on the issue of white lines until someone mentioned it on this thread. I and others have noticed the lack of visibility for a few games recently! (almost completely invisible on Saturday)!

I can see the referee calling a game off before it starts one day!!!....GET IT SORTED QUICKLY PLEASE!!

And Coastal 'chairman' linnet, any chance of the lines getting re-painted, they were almost indecipherable today.

General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn Town 1 Cambridge City 1 Interviews
« on: August 17, 2016, 07:41:30 AM »
Good interview again, in my opinion I don't think so many were disappointed with the first half performance, but more the inept decisions by the officials, I myself feel that the lads gave 100%. Another night with lady luck on our side as officials who know the rules we would have strolled it. My main concern is the state of the pitch, looked rough, and could barely see the white lines, which would not have helped an inept ref.

IMO and many around me WERE disappointed with that first half performance!...For a start it was clear to see Zielonka was completely out of his depth in that right back position. He is no way a defender!.Cambridge goal was a defensive shambles!....Don't even get me started with the same old HOOF ball game we witnessed TOO many times last evening.

Now the second half in the last 25 minutes we seem to wake up and start playing football and pressure Cambridge and I agree we could and should have won. The new lad from Northampton was very good.

Hopefully we will continue this second half commitment on Saturday. I do agree however (I have said before!..Pitch not looking good especially the pitch markings!....PLEASE SORT!)
