General Discussion / Re: Season under threat
« on: January 19, 2021, 11:50:31 AM »
One key reason why I believe clubs are signing players right now (especially down at the bottom), is the desperation to get points on the board quick. Said it at start of season in relation to King's Lynn needing to start season quick, PPG could be used to decide the final table because it's an elite level league, and for promotion/relegation to happen, it can't be null & void.

So if say 7 more games gets played, then clubs across all three leagues say enough is enough, PPG will be used because same squabbles as last season will happen.

From a quick look at unweighted PPG (https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/national-league/league-table/ppm), King's Lynn right now just about stay up in 20th. Have to start winning more games quickly.

General Discussion / Re: Power on the move?
« on: January 13, 2021, 06:24:50 PM »
Letís remember that Power is not a Lynn player.  So we have little say on where he goes and when, seemingly.  Though Iím surprised that Power wasnít on a season long deal with us.   Is Mair on the same kind of arrangement where he could be recalled or be moved elsewhere and a moments notice ?

Assume Mair will be like all loans where a fee hasn't been paid, that recall can be activated during a transfer window. So unless Norwich feel there's a better loan out there should a club come in, or they want to cash in, then he'd be called back. I doubt either will happen, as he's only 19 and playing regularly at Step 1. Solid experience before he's loaned to a football league next season for the next step in development. Be surprised if Lynn are able to get him on loan for another season.

Sadly, I can see everything grinding to a halt for a couple of months before very long.

Lose say Jan/Feb to no games through some strong lockdown, March - end of June can be squeezed the season, with all games being played twice a week. Some maybe 3 towards end. Don't want to be chasing points then, so important to get as many points before New Year where possible.

Surprised a friendly for example hasn't been arranged against someone like Wisbech, or another local team. Maximise the gate revenue whilst fans are allowed, and keep players match sharp.

General Discussion / Re: Saturdayís Trophy game now on at Alfreton
« on: December 17, 2020, 09:24:14 AM »
Pick the team that's best to win the game, simple. Quite a few good sides below already gone out, suspect more this weekend, and with Lynn showing against best in the league last weekend they can go toe to toe on a one off game, there's no reason to not think winning this trophy isn't viable if you get some luck along the way.

Quite a few, because there'll be a number that are asymptomatic, like I suspect has happened at Bedford.

Lynn could have a number, but until one player shows symptoms, then gets tested, won't really know about any others because they won't be tested till then.

Highest scorers, against most conceded. One team on back of 9 wins/1 draw in last 10 league games, against another that lost last 2 poorly, and conceded 12 in last 3 in all competitions. Fans hopefully can push the team to a positive result, because this game could get messy if the team are not strong and on it from kick off.

General Discussion / Re: home vs Bromley (1st December)
« on: December 03, 2020, 10:27:46 AM »
Just so bad from crosses. The 3rd goal had Smith AND Brown going for the ball, neither marking the actual man that headed it (not sure if one was suppose to be marking him), and it dropping to the Bromley player unmarked to score, which I can only assume one of them was suppose to be marking too. Just the basics all so wrong.

Probably a different game if Mitchell takes his earlier 2 chances and be clinical like Bromley, but in truth probably would have just lost 4-3 instead because defence just so bad again from crosses. The space down the flanks for the counter were criminal too. Going to get constantly punished against the better teams leaving space like that.

General Discussion / Re: Next 4 League games.
« on: December 02, 2020, 05:02:53 PM »
Have to 100% be beating Altrincham, but we struggled against them last season. They've shown the step can be done. 28 goals conceded after 11 games is embarrassing, Altrincham only conceded 13 after 13 games. Defences were similar last season, so something has gone wrong.

On a side note, what do people think of Alex Brown? Had a great debut against Yeovil, but I've not been convinced by him since. Seems weak defensively, and lacking the threat going other way to make up for it. Teams seem to know they can exploit those areas, same on the right, as they're a soft spot without the danger to damage other way.

General Discussion / Re: More bail out money
« on: November 24, 2020, 08:46:35 AM »

And you wonder how strictly social distancing will be enforced? Will enforcement be proactive or retroactive? If thereís scenes of mass congregating after the first week of fixtures, will this change be one and done?

Giving how people congregated for certain FA Cup games behind goals, I don't think anything would change. There'll be images where it looks like people are packed on top of each other, but as long as some distance (even like 1/2 m) between people/groups then it'll be all fair game.

Bit of dilemma for King's Lynn morally this too. They can take the route of spacing things right out and only having say 1000 - 1200 fans in the ground, or have it a bit less space, and take advantage of Norwich not having full house all season, go for the 2000 mark (or more depending on Tier) and try and tap into potential new fans ready for the following season.

Interesting. If West Norfolk is Tier 2 at most (which I think will be likely), that would mean up to 2000 fans can attend the home game against Torquay on 12th December. If that's the case, would the grant money need to be returned? Because I doubt other clubs would be happy if they still have no fans, but other clubs get fan money AND grant money.

Mair: Barrows, McAuley, Lupano, Brown: Loza, Richards, Kings, Power: Marriott, Mitchell

Get as much pace in the side as possible. Ensure the 2 lines of 4 are closer then normal, slightly deeper and look to counter fast. With the ball, have the wide players pushing on for the outlet.

The amount conceded is the real worry. 24 in 8 games is very poor. Not conceded less than 2 in a league game yet. It really needs sorting out, because teams are playing Lynn knowing there's goals to be had. The main positive still in our favour, are the goals we can score. It's a very good return. So whilst that can be maintained, survival is still viable because other teams would love to have goals from multiple players that Lynn have.

Next 4 league games are big though. Against sides who realistically could be in and around come end of the season. Minimum 7 points from them please.

Shambles. Seriously need to change things up in the league. 23 goals conceded in league and counting. Hopefully that new CB who might be coming can organise things better.

General Discussion / Re: FA Cup 2nd Round draw

Strong chance it could be on TV. Sure itís something like £25k (might be more) when on TV in the early rounds. Guaranteed £8k even if you lose, so could be another nice windfall.

Right mixture of teams in 2nd round. Always a dilemma now at this stage if you could pick a side. One that's a lesser side on paper, and potential to really get into 3rd round and draw one of the heavyweights. Or take whoever, and if it's a League 1 side away, another chance to cause an upset.

P'Boro away for me ideal. Pompey home/away for the bigger side. Chorley/Marine/Canvey at home for the lesser tie.
